5 TES At least two qualified supervisors, one to be designated as the Principal Supervisor, must be nominated for each candidate. If this is not possible, a statement must be attached explaining why co-supervision is regarded as impractical. For external candidates, a suitable on-site supervisor, who has agreed to act, must be nominated as the co-supervisor. If this is not possible, a statement must be attached explaining why on-site supervision is regarded as impractical. Recommendation 1.1: An applicant may be admitted direct to the PhD on their qualifications i.e. a Masters degree that contains a minimum 25% research component or a Bachelors degree with a Hons 2, I grade or better. If the student s qualifications do not meet these criteria, and the School wishes to recommend direct entry to the PhD on the basis of the student s qualifications and evidence of acceptable research experience, an explanation of this decision must be provided. This explanation must articulate precisely the evidence relied on in making this recommendation. In addition to the above: (A) An applicant may be admitted direct to the EdD on their qualifications and relevant professional experience. The experience criteria is satisfied by four years experience in an educational institution or education services delivery. Where a probationary period is required, any special conditions that the student must complete should be noted. Recommendation 1.2 Upgrade from Masters The following documents must be appended to this Report and Recommendation form: a report on the applicant s work from each of the two assessors a summary report by the applicant s Masters supervisor and a recommendation for the upgrade 5
