3 3 Introduction Theinitiativebeganin2001whentheLocalEarlyEducationPlanningCouncil(LPC) createdacommitteeforinclusion.in2002,capassedabillforone timefundsto increasethecapacityofchildcareproviderstoservechildrenwithdisabilities.in2003,a planwasdevelopedforhowtoaccomplishinclusioninchild careprogramsthroughthe auspicesoffirst5,westedandthelpc.in ,First5supportedtheLPCto begininclusioncollaborativeplanning.thelpccreatedarequestforproposalto supportcollaborativeleadershipfortheinitiativeandajointawardwasgiventowest EdandtheSCCOE.In ,theinclusioncollaborativeinitiatedaconsultationand assessmentworkgroup.in KidConnectionswasbornand700educatorsand parentsweretrainedwithmatchedfundingfromcharmainewarmenhoven,first5 SantaClaraCountyandSCCOE.Fundingwasguaranteedfor3years.Lastyearthework continuedwiththedevelopmentofresourcematerialstosupportthetrainingevents. TheSpecialHopeFoundationgrantprovidedstartupmoniesforanon sitecoaching modelthroughthewarmline. TheSCCOEisapartneringagencywiththeSiliconValleyEducationFoundation,a501c3 organization.thenonprofitstatusallowsthecollaborativetoapplyforamultitudeof grantopportunitiesthatsupportthegrowthanddevelopmentoftheeffort.the InclusionCollaborativeprovidesadvocacy,consultationandcommunityawarenessfor inclusion.awarmlineconnectionofferstelephoneserviceande packetsabout inclusionandcoachestoassistlocalimplementationofthevariousinclusivemodels.the collaborativehasanongoingtrainingprogramoninclusionthatisrecommendedfor everydistrictstafforotherprogramsconsideringinclusiveopportunities.thefulltime staffconsistsofaninclusionprogrammanagerandacoordinatorofinclusiontraining. Parttimestaffinclude:clericalstaff,InclusionWarmLinespecialists,inclusioncoachand inclusionspecialist.inadditiontothetrainingevents,thecollaborativehascreatedan interactivewebsitewhereover8,000peoplehavevisitedannually.thisyearthe averagehits per monthwasaround1,000.abilitysupportkits(ask)areavailablefor checkoutandkitsforinclusionteamsuccess(kits)areavailableonline.inadditionto theinclusiontrainingandresourcesupport,thecollaborativesponsorsascreeningand assessmentcoordinationincludingkidconnections,afirstfivecollaborativeof professionalsandcommunityagencies. OneofthemanyhighlightsoftheInclusionCollaborativeistheavailabilityofawebsite providinginformationaboutcollaboratingagencies,resources,upcomingmeetingand trainingevents,andacomprehensivelistofannotatedlinksfocusedonvariousaspects ofinclusivepractice.mostrecentlythewebsiteobtainedadirecturltoincreasethe easeatwhichthewebsitecanbeaccessed.
