7 About CAI CAI Training Philosophy CAI can help your organization grow and succeed by developing your most important asset your people. We offer an abundance of training options to meet the needs of your business. We specialize in management and leadership development, HR and professional development. From the Classroom to the Workplace The core objective of CAI training is to help leaders and employees improve performance by successfully transfer the new skills, knowledge and behaviors back to the job. To do this, we design and develop programs that are based on modern, proving learning principles and practices. CAI s training philosophy includes these elements: Enhanced content based on research from top leadership/industry experts Clearly articulated course learning objectives and expectations A learning model that focuses on: 1. Awareness: Each course/module begins with the introduction of a concept related to the unit s objectives. The concepts are examined through discussions, lecturettes and experiential activities. 2. Practice: The participants engage in exercises that allow them to practice the skills and behaviors they ve learned. 3. Application: The participants determine how to apply what they have learned to their individual issues and job situations. Adult learning theory - Use of role-plays and real life case studies to engage learners in a doing activity. Through that active process the learner is drawing on training content to act out a realistic scenario. Those scenarios prepare learners with simulated job experience, which aids in the transfer of learning. - Assignments and group activities that facilitate collaborative learning from peers. Action planning, which accelerates the transfer of learning back to the job and holds participants accountable for applying new skills and adopting new behaviors Rich, detailed participant guides that enable participants to leave with materials that they can use as reference materials back on the job 5

29 The Management Advantage Fundamentals of Supervision Certificate Program When possessing the proper skills and knowledge, your organization s supervisors will be key drivers of business results and your best defense against employee lawsuits. A supervisor who does not have the proper training and learning transfer will fail to inspire employees to sustainable, high-level performance, and puts the company at risk of a lawsuit through poor managerial practices and the inability to create a positive work environment. This two-day program will help first time supervisors and managers establish a strong foundation for success. It starts with a self assessment to identify strengths and important areas for growth to ensure a smooth and effective transition. The focus will then turn to basic supervisory skill building, and strategies for building trust, communicating effectively, motivating and recognizing employees, delegating, and managing conflict. Each attendee will also develop action plans to transfer lessons and skills learned directly back to their job. 30 The Management Advantage Managing for Results Certificate Program (Replaces the Principles of Management Certificate Program) Today all organizations are facing an increasingly turbulent environment resulting in drastic changes to the role and responsibilities of managers. No longer relevant is the manager who is a task master, custodian and controller. Instead, people look to their managers, not just to assign them a task, but to define for them a purpose. Today, managers must manage workers, not just to maximize efficiency, but to nurture skills, develop talent and inspire results. While the role of the manager is drastically changing, the function of management remains essential and continues to be the core driver of organizational performance. For your organization to consistently achieve your desired business results, managers must understand how their role has changed and what employees expect of them today vs. the traditional one-sided, controlling role of the past. This two-day interactive program will help your managers understand their changing role and begin to develop the skills they need to excel in this new world of work. Through relevant activities, peer learning and self-reflection, managers will have an opportunity to learn how to positively influence their employees to optimal performance and productivity. New and experienced managers and supervisors with more than two years of experience NEW! Learning Objectives At the end of this program, participants will be able to: List characteristics of an effective manager Assess your strengths and areas of development as a manager Identify what you will do to adapt to the changes in the role of a manager Demonstrate four active listening techniques: attending, inquiry, paraphrasing and empathy Demonstrate how to give feedback for reinforcement and feedback for improvement Use active listening skills to manage employee responses to feedback Describe the four leadership styles in the Situational Leadership Model Apply the principles of Situational Leadership to case studies provided Develop a plan to match your Situational Topics Covered Managing in Todays Workplace Effective Communication Feedback for Reinforcement and Improvement Leadership style to your team members needs Describe the benefits of coaching in the workplace List characteristics of an effective coach Apply the GROW model to scenarios provided Demonstrate how to coach an employee using the GROW Model Define employee engagement List characteristics of an engaged employee Describe the impact of an engaged workforce on business success List the Gallup 12 critical indicators of employee engagement Identify strategies to build and sustain the engagement and motivation of disengaged employees Situational Leadership Coaching for Success Building and Sustaining Employee Engagement...
