3 Malachy Bishop, Ph.D., CRC Conference Speakers Dr. Bishop has worked as a rehabilitation Counselor and Educator for over 16 years. He completed his doctoral study in Rehabilitation Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, minored in Educational Psychology, and completed clinical internships in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. He joined the faculty of the University of Kentucky in 2000, and is currently an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Graduate Rehabilitation Counseling Program. Dr. Bishop conducts research primarily in the areas of quality of life, adaptations to disability, and the psychosocial aspects of living with neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis, brain injury, and epilepsy. Abigail Bruce, PHR, CPC, ACC Abigail is certified as a Whole Life Design Coach through the Barake Institute, and has coached people from many different walks of life. She received her degree in Intercultural Communications through Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon. She has a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages (TESOL). She has additional experience tutoring math to high school students and teaching English as a second language to diverse immigrant groups and study abroad students. Bobby Clark, MS, CRC Bobby Clark is a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. He opened the Vancouver, Washington Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Outstation for the VA Regional Office in Portland, January Over the years he has expanded the case load from the initial 45 veterans to 275 veterans by greatly improving access to veteran benefits. Bobby holds a Bachelor of Business administration degree from the University of Texas, and an MBA from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. He completed his MS degree in Education: Counseling (Rehabilitation Track) at Portland State University in He is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association. Colleen Cormack, CBIS Colleen Cormack is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), Oregon State Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Oregon Worker s Compensation Return to Work Specialist and a Nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and has over 20 years of experience working in the Brain Injury field. She has extensive working experiences with all types of traumatic injuries.
4 Jenipher S. Gaffney Conference Speakers Jenipher S. Gaffney is a counselor in private practice in Vancouver, Washington. She is a certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC), licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), nationally certified counselor (NCC), and registered as a vocational rehabilitation counselor (VRC) in Washington, Alaska and with Department of Veterans Affairs. She is a board certified vocational expert (Diplomat, American Board of Vocational Experts), and is called as an expert witness in cases involving permanent disability, personal injury, wrongful termination, medical malpractice, veterans issues, marital dissolution and worker s compensation. She has provided expert witness testimony for Social Security (ODAR) since 1992, as well as for the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB). Wendy Hodsdon, ND Wendy Hodsdon is a Naturopathic physician whose primary practice is in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland. As a general practitioner, Dr. Hodsdon uses alternative medicine to cover a wide range of holistic health care needs including disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and education. Rae Howe Rae is the assistant Section Manager of the Benefits Services Section. Her responsibilities are Appellate Review, Medical Arbiter, EAIP, PWP and Voc. Assistance. Rae has also worked as the Information Resource Manager and Manager of the Claims Unit for WCD. Christy Johnson Christy is a re-employment specialist with the Employment Service Team WCD in Salem. She provides technical direction to Oregon s injured workers and their employers. She spends her day answering questions on the phone and determining worker eligibility for program and process contracts. Christy holds a Bachelor of Science in liberal studies from Eastern Oregon State University. Christy has an extensive knowledge of the Worker s Compensation Division. She started her career in WDC in the mailroom and was quickly promoted to the support unit of the Appellate Review Unit. After a short time, she was promoted and became a Benefit Consultant, where she became a Certified Claims Examiner. After a year and a half she was promoted into the Preferred Worker Program, where she plans to remain.
