By taking on this challenge, you are providing your pupils with a unique opportunity to set their own goals and achieve their aspirations. You can use one of our ideas, or create your own unique challenge to suit your school and your pupils. You will be raising money for Whizz-Kidz so that we can continue to help disabled young people to aspire to achieve their true potential. Here are some ideas Start by asking the children to name a skill or an activity that they would like to improve, or learn, either individually, as a small group or with their whole class. Aspire to follow a healthy living regime, including a morning workout and healthy eating Learn to play a song with musical instruments and perform it Aspire fancy dress day - Each pupil to dress up as their role model Fashion show to showcase handmade clothes or printed t shirts Learn some new delicious cake recipes and run a bake sale Organise a sports match such as a 5-a-side football tournament Get into pairs and learn to cook a new meal Spell-a-thon Karaoke competition Plan an obstacle course Reading or memory challenge Talent show

2 Why Whizz-Kidz needs Needs your Your help Help There are an estimated 70,000 disabled children waiting for their childhoods to start, as they struggle to get a wheelchair that meets all their needs. We believe that every young disabled person has the right to a fun and active childhood, and the chance to develop their full potential in life. Your fundraising will provide disabled children and young people with vital mobility equipment, and life journey services, giving them opportunities to build friendships and have fun, and training to help them gain skills and look forward to a bright future. Top 10 tips to make your school s fundraising a success! Set a target and tell everyone how much you are aiming to raise. Get everyone involved! The more help you have, the easier your challenge will be. Make sure every child has a sponsorship form. Send a letter to parents to tell them more about the Aspire Schools Challenge and Whizz- Kidz. Tell everyone about your event. Use your newsletters, notice boards, Facebook page or Twitter account to tell people about your Aspire Challenge. Create a school display, visible for parents and pupils, to showcase what each class is aspiring to achieve. Use your press release template to let the local paper know about your fundraising. Remember to tell people what your target is and how to donate. Collect in money promptly after the challenge. You may want to choose a specific date to have children return their sponsorship form and money by. Give out the certificates to the children. Thank everyone in your school newsletter and use the thank you side of your double-sided poster to show everyone how much money you raised!

3 The How difference Your Money your Helps school could make 100 enables our team to support a young person s health and personal care needs for one day whilst undertaking work experience, fully facilitating the young person s independence while they acquire vital employability skills. 171 covers the costs of maintaining and repairing a disabled child s powered chair for six months, lifting the financial burden of keeping the wheelchair in good order from a low income family. 249 could enable a disabled child to attend their local Youth Ambassador Club, helping them feel less isolated and learn skills which boost their confidence and self-esteem. 319 could pay for a nurse to attend one day of a Whizz-Kidz residential Camp, catering for the complex medical needs of up to ten disabled young people giving them the chance to learn independent-living skills and socialise with friends. 1,000 covers the cost of providing a disabled child with their first adapted trike. 5,000 could cover the cost of providing a disabled child s powered chair the ultimate gift to transforming their life, and future, overnight.

4 Dominic s Story Eight-year-old Dominic has an undiagnosed genetic disorder and is a full-time wheelchair user. Before receiving a powered wheelchair from Whizz-Kidz, Dominic relied on his mum so much that he was scared to do anything without help. Since receiving his powered wheelchair with a riser, Dominic's family have noticed a massive difference and he has grown up to be a very happy and independent little boy. Dominic's mum, Renata says: 'When Dominic was two, he was considered too young to qualify for a powered wheelchair from our local NHS so we turned to Whizz-Kidz for support and they made sure that he received a powered wheelchair by the time he was three. But even when we got his new wheelchair, it wasn t an easy ride for us at first, because Dominic had become so reliant on me that he was too scared to do anything for himself. Fortunately, Whizz-Kidz have supported us ever since our first contact. Dominic becoming more independent 'Five years on, Dominic's confidence has grown, and in his wheelchair he is able to explore the world around him and experience an independent childhood. Simple things such as coming on a walk with our dog, chasing his siblings, or rushing off if he s bored of my conversations were impossible before. Now he has his freedom! Without his powered wheelchair, Dominic would not have been able to have taken part in his school Sports Day Attending a Whizz-Kidz Ambassador Club

5 How to pay in your donation Online Post Visit Select I would like to pay in money raised from a collection or fundraiser then choose Aspire Schools Challenge from the drop down menu. Alternatively, send a cheque, made payable to Whizz-Kidz, to our head office address along with your donation form (download a form from our website). We re here to help!
