3 Cloud 101 So, what is the cloud exactly? Cloud computing is the method a service provider uses to deliver software applications to the end user s desktop over the internet. It eliminates the need to purchase hardware, software and the staff it takes to support it. Currently all Microsoft Dynamics products (including GP & NAV) are only hosted through a hosting partner. Microsoft CRM Online is the only Dynamics product that is 100% hosted by Microsoft. The other Dynamics products will eventually get there but there are no exact dates on when that will be released. If you are in a hosted environment, they access the application through Citrix. Does the cloud work for my market? Cloud implementations can be effective for all market verticals. The hosting environment is reliable and can deliver consistent response times. We have many third party solution integrated with our ERP; can we use the cloud products? Our hosting partners have an office seal of approval for ISV s certified products. This certification is a software product test for ISV solutions that integrate with Microsoft Dynamics, CRM, Exchange and SharePoint products. The goal of the certification is to provide assurance that the ISV application functions properly in the cloud/hosted environment. Current testing is nearing 30 ISVs and the expected number for early 2012 is 60 ISVs. We have quite a few customizations in our ERP systems; can we use the cloud products?
