2 About us Jonathan Mayglothling, Managing Director Mayglothling Waste Limited is a family firm which has grown over the past 30 years into a nationwide operation, with a large fleet of tankers, employing more than 40 staff. Our head office is in Herefordshire and we have depots in Abergavenny, Carmarthen, Newport, Newtown (2), and Llanidloes. 5 Drains Drains can get blocked for many reasons: roots, fat, structural problems, flooding and we are able to clean from the smallest to the largest. 8 Septic Tanks There are several different types of septic tank systems, and they all work on the same basic principle: to separate the solids from the liquids and allow the liquid to flow out into a soakaway. The soakaway allows the bulk of the waste, which is mainly water, to soak away into the surrounding ground, through an arrangement of pipe work and drainage stone. Due to site constraints, it may not be possible to have a septic tank or a sewage treatment plant. In this case it may be necessary to have a cesspool. Just like everything else, septic tanks and cesspools need to be serviced from time to time to prevent expensive damage. This involves regular de-sludging in order to remove the buildup of solids. 9 Sewage Treatment Plants There are many different types of sewage treatment plant and they work using the same basic principle: settlement, biological treatment then further settlement. The aim of the sewage treatment plant is to produce a final effluent of sufficient clarity to meet the standards set by the Environment Agency via a Consent to Discharge to enable the final effluent to discharge into a water course or soakaway. All sewage treatment plants require a service engineer's visit. The frequency will depend on the type of sewage treatment plant and the number of dwellings connected to it. Our service engineers will service both the electronic and mechanical aspects at the same time as monitoring final effluent standards by collecting and analysing the final effluent sample where required. They will also be able to check the condition of the biomass upon the media surface.
