1 2013 Annual Report Proposed Budget hhhlibrary.org
2 A Letter to the Community The mission of the Half Hollow Hills Community Library is to be a communityfocused organization which offers a welcoming space, both digital and physical, with professional staff, services, programs and materials that provides learning, cultural enrichment and entertainment. For the fiscal year, the Library Trustees are presenting a proposed budget with a 1.46% increase or an additional $105,950. The increase will not exceed the New York State Tax Levy limit. This is the seventh fiscal year in a row that the library budget is below 2%. This past year no one program or service was more popular than any other. Depending on your interests, you might be the person who attends our programs (such as music, lectures, games or tax help to name a few) or is a traditional reader or is a digital user (downloading/streaming books, music and movies or doing research with the Library s databases.) Or you might borrow a pass to a New York City or Long Island museum to enjoy its treasures. Our goal is to provide access to what you need, when you need it. With that in mind, the Library is open 70 hours per week most of the year and our web page is available 24/7. However you use the Library, we hope you agree that it is one of the best values for your tax dollar. Thank you for being part of the Half Hollow Hills Library community. We look forward to seeing you. Michele Lauer-Bader, Library Director mlauerba@suffolk.lib.ny.us (631) If you have not heard it already thank you for your collaborative efforts and consistent open communication with the Mother s Club of Wheatley Heights and the Concerned Fathers Association. - Member of Black History Committee
