1 CAREERLINE TECH CENTER PROGRAM SYLLABUS Program: Instructor(s): Paraprofessional(s): Information Technologies A Nancy Kuzma Michelle Hofman Program Description: Information Technologies A is a 2 year program that focuses on Internet tools and technologies, Web design and development, and Web administration. During the first year, students will learn the fundamental concepts in each of these areas. During the student s second year, he/she will pursue the Jr. Web Developer track or the Server Administrator I track. During their second year, students will take concepts learned during year one and advance their skills to the next level by focusing on the application of these concepts. Throughout the program, students will also study Help Desk Concepts, Help Desk Tools and Techniques, and Career/Employability skills. Foundations Track Year One Course Description: Students will move sequentially through the following CIW curriculum modules: Internet Business, Site Development, and Networking Fundamentals. Each module will consist of exercises, labs, concept quizzes, and performance quizzes. Students will demonstrate mastery of these concepts through online assessments which simulate the CIW Associate Certification exam. Upon qualification, students will have one opportunity to obtain the CIW Associate Certification free of charge. In addition, students will focus on Help Desk concepts and Career/Employability concepts during first semester. Students will demonstrate mastery of these concepts through various projects in the following semester.
