3 ORGANIZATIONAL NEED 1. Describe the social and emotional needs of children and families within your organization and in your community. 2. 7 FIDELITY COMPLIANCE Please complete the following grids for the IY components you wish to implement in the program year. IY Parent Program Model Components of Fidelity Select 2 qualified parent group leaders (please review attached Parent Group Leader Profile) Allow release time for 2 staff to attend 3-day workshop for training in the BASIC Early Childhood Parent Program Offer the BASIC Early Childhood Parent Program for 14 consecutive weeks, 2½ hours weekly Allow for parent group leaders to have adequate prep & planning time (approx. 2½ hours weekly) Create plan for parent recruitment and strategies for parent retention Identify and compensate a point person for family engagement and recruitment Provide confidential space for groups to run and a separate space for child care Identify and compensate a coordinator that will be responsible for the logistical coordination of the group (ex: securing space, making copies, coordinating meals, etc.) Ability to Comply (Yes, No, or Don t Know) Anticipated successes and/or challenges 7

8 Secure quality childcare providers for parent group, weekly Provide meals for group, weekly Provide access to AV equipment to run DVDs, as needed to implement the curriculum (video vignettes) Pay 2 trained parent group leaders (that fit the group leader profile) an appropriate stipend for time spent running groups, as well as time spent in prep & planning Budget for ongoing materials costs associated with the parent groups, including books, magnets and parent incentives Allow for parent group leaders to have adequate time to complete evaluation information at the end of each session, as well as support participants in completing the pre- and post-test evaluations. All data is submitted on time. Provide parent group leaders with dedicated time to engage in coaching and consultation from IIK staff and/or peer coaches in support of fidelity. Maintain consistent communication with IIK staff regarding parent group logistics in advance of program start date, as well as throughout the series. 8

9 Goal for total # of Dinosaur School Classrooms: Proposed Location(s) for Implementation: Will you collaborate with other organizations to implement parent groups? Dinosaur School Model Components of Fidelity Allow release time for teachers and classroom staff (2 per classroom) to attend Dinosaur School training for 3 full day trainings spread over the course of the school year. Implement 2 large group circle times (10-15 minutes each) and 2 small group activities (10-15 minutes each) weekly Use video vignettes as indicated in the curriculum (requires access to AV equipment in the classroom to show video vignettes on DVD in support of the large group lesson) Use role play and practice to promote skill building in children Sends home parent letters and bi-weekly home activities (incurs copy costs) Participate in evaluation and submit data by deadlines. All classrooms implementing Dinosaur School complete a pre-test (October) and a post-test (April) on each child in the classroom, as well as teacher profile forms. All data is submitted by deadlines. Allow for Dinosaur School teachers to have planning time to prepare for each lesson (approximately minutes per week in the first year of implementation) Promote opportunities to integrate IY philosophy into other curriculum and throughout the day Commitment to having IIK staff and/or peer coaches visit your site for the purposes of coaching and consultation in support of fidelity Ability to Comply (Yes, No, or Don t Know) Anticipated successes and/or challenges 9

IY Teacher Classroom Management Model Components of Fidelity Allow release time for teachers and classroom staff (2 per classroom) to attend Teacher Classroom Management training for 5 full days spread over the course of the school year. Participate in monthly (total of 6) coaching visits, based upon skills learned in training (includes coaching meeting) Develop and implement behavior plans in the classroom Participate in evaluation and submit data by deadlines. All classrooms implementing Teacher Classroom Management complete a pre-test (October) and a post-test (April) on each child in the classroom, as well as teacher profile forms. All data is submitted by deadlines. 11 FUNDING AND SUSTAINABILITY This grant will not support full funding for program implementation. There is an expectation that sites will provide some level of community match to fund a portion of the work. Research shows that local investment is essential to successful, sustainable implementation of IY in a community. 1. Please list the funding sources available, or that you will seek, to help support your implementation of IY in Please note if the funding is pending or already secured. Please also note any additional funding, which is considered a community match, that is allocated to general program implementation, money earmarked for a specific piece of the implementation (i.e. materials), in-kind support of the program, etc. 2. Does your organization have experience finding collaborative funding and resources to sustain programs? Are you currently using, or do you plan to use, any collaborative resources in support of IY? 3. What is your long-term vision for implementation of this program in your community? 4. How do you plan to support the sustainability of IY within your organization and your community? 11

12 BUDGET REQUEST Please outline the expenses for which you are requesting funding. Provide as much narrative as possible to help clarify your organization s specific funding needs, based on the guidelines listed below. In the amount requested column, indicate how much money your organization requests for the particular items that have varying rates. For example, if it costs your organization $125/week to provide child care for one parent group, and you are requesting child care for 2 groups, note the following: $125/week X 14 weeks = $1750 X 2 groups = $3500. If you are unclear about exact amounts to request, simply write out your organization s needs, and we will be in communication about an appropriate budget. *Only complete budgets for the components of the IY program for which you are requesting funding in the program year. PARENT GROUP EXPENSES *Please note: All IY Parent Groups Leaders must attend the 3-day certified IY Parent Group training. Additionally, each group will need a curriculum set and parent books and magnets for each family in attendance. The additional leader manual and the audio books are optional but recommended. Additionally, all IY Parent Groups must offer weekly child care and meals as part of the fidelity to the model of the program, as well as coaching support (where appropriate). ***All IY Parent Group reimbursement funding is contingent upon submission of evaluation data. 15 DINOSAUR SCHOOL EXPENSES Please note: All implementing Dinosaur School staff must participate in the 3-day certified Dinosaur School training, including classroom support staff. Training fees vary based on the number of participants attending the training and will be determined in collaboration with Invest in Kids. It is recommended that 2 classrooms share Dinosaur School materials. If 2 classrooms share materials, it is recommended that one additional classroom curriculum binder set and one additional Detective Kit be purchased. Additionally, all first and second year implementing Dinosaur School classrooms must receive coaching support.
