I am training on how to perform Botox injections for migraine treatment, sub-achromial bursa and knee steroid injections, as well as trigger finger injections. I manage chronic pain patients by prescribing appropriate pain medications or schedule them for appropriate procedures that may include cervical, thoracic or lumbar medial branch blocks with radiofrequency ablation, trigger point injections, epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections,and SI joint injections, abdominal cutaneous nerve blocks, and shoulder, knee or hip injections. I also make referrals to physical therapy, pain psychology or psychiatry and any other specialty when deemed necessary. Experience as a General Surgery Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Surgical RN First Assistant. I assessed patients over the phone and in the office post-operatively. I also helped with direct admits from the office when necessary, prescribed medications, and first assisted during general surgery with open and laparoscopic procedures, tying and skin closure. My additional past APN experience includes practicing at the STAR (surgery testing and registration) clinic at. I would oversee patients who would have surgery to make sure their labs, chest x-ray and EKG were normal before surgery, made assessments, and educated patients about their medications, procedure they would have and the overall preoperative process. This service helped prevent surgery cancellations on the day of surgery. I referred patients to cardiologists and pulmonologists when necessary.
