4 Intellipak Rooftops TRG-014 This one day class includes the construc on of the en re unit along with the internals of the member components. Cooling cycle along with troubleshoo ng is discussed. A look at the Intellipak controls including the STATITRAC, VFD, GBAS and VOM controls. A descrip on and setup of the Human Interface panel is covered. Finally a look at the unit wiring diagram rounds out the class. Class focuses on cooling only, cooling w/ gas heat, CV units and VAV units. Topics discussed will be installa on, opera on including controls, electric heat and gas heat. DATE: Tuesday March 25th HVAC 3.0 Trade Pipefitter 3.0 Core Sheet Metal 3.0 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.0 Core VariTrac & VAV Systems TRG-013 This one day class is designed to promote understanding of VAV and the concept of air movement. It discusses the different concepts in equipment and design. Program introduces the systems, valves, control and the zone control. Early pneuma c styles up to the electronic boards are covered. VARITRAC covers the newer style of boxes along with the electronic controls used with them. Varitrac is used to turn small constant volume commercial systems into VAV. Varitrane and Varitrac boxes are used in both configura ons. Class is designed to instruct the owner or contractor s personnel in the opera on and service of the equipment. 5 Variable Frequency Drives TRG-021 This one day class consists of drive hardware and theory of opera on, A/C drive characteris cs, wiring and installa on, startup and troubleshoo ng along with preventa ve maintenance. The course will cover general VFD theory of opera on that is not vendor specific. Also discussed will be service and troubleshoo ng of the Trane Danfoss and Square D Al var 58 and 66 drives. Class is for owners, contractors and maintenance personnel. DATE: Thursday March 27th HVAC 3.5 Trade Pipefitter 3.5 Core Sheet Metal 3.5 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.5 Core Cooling Tower Operation & Maintenance TRG-024 This day class is intended to show the basic concepts of cooling towers and their general opera on and maintenance. A endees will learn of the different types of towers, designs, placement, PM, service and controls. This type of class gives the owner, operator and maintenance person a good background on how to and why it s necessary to maintain large A/C system condensers. DATE: Friday March 28th HVAC 3.0 Trade Pipefitter 3.0 Trade Sheet Metal 3.0 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.0 Core Air Conditioning Clinic (2 days) - TRG-043 The course is a comprehensive ba ery of 15 sessions designed to give an overview of air condi oning fundamentals and associated systems. Each session deals with a specific area of the many disciplines required to successfully design and install air condi oning equipment. Upon comple on the a endee will have a be er understanding of the various equipment and systems used in providing comfort cooling today and be able to iden fy the individual components and their opera on. Booklets on the topics are provided for the a endee to do further study. Topics include: Air handler systems, psychrometry, heat load es ma on, refrigera on system components, refrigerant piping, absorp on chillers, centrifugal chillers, helical-rotary chillers, fans, VAV systems, HVAC controls, chilled water systems, water source heat pumps and ice storage systems. Each student receives a manual having the clinic presenta ons ($200 value). 6 Electrical Troubleshooting TRG-041 A er an overview of electric terminology, the a endee will learn the opera on of various electrical devices used in HVAC systems and the procedures for troubleshoo ng them. It incorporates principles of relays and other switching mechanisms and covers the basic principles of reading schema c wiring diagrams. The a endee will become familiar with HVAC electrical devices and circuits and will be able to use this knowledge to troubleshoot electrical controls and electrical systems in order to repair them. This course has one lab exercise and several in which the instructor demonstrates troubles on commercial air condi oner/furnace system components and the students work in groups of 2 or 3 using a schema c to iden fy faulty electrical components. DATE: Wednesday April 2nd HVAC 3.5 Trade Pipefitter 3.5 Core Sheet Metal 3.5 Core Sprinklerfitter 3.5 Core EPA Refrigeration Certification Section 608 Review & Test TRG-914 This course has 3 parts: book home study, class PowerPoint-lecture overview and exam. It is designed to prepare the a endee for the exam. It covers procedures and government regula ons associated with servicing refrigera on equipment and the recovery and recycling of refrigerants. It also familiarizes the a endee with the ozone deple on and refrigerants. A cer fica on exam is given at the comple on of the course. It covers how to discover if a facility has poten al IAQ problems, how to prevent poten al IAQ problems and how to remedy problems when they do exist. A endees are taught how to deal with problems and the concerns of employees and the public with effec ve communica ons. It provides guidance on how to set up an IAQ program using the EPA s manual. A endees are provided the official 229 page guide from the US EPA that offers the latest informa on about IAQ problems and the forms for se ng up a program. 7 Boilers and Safety Controls Operation and Maintenance The opera on and components of boilers, burners, combus on safety devices and low-pressure steam and hot water hea ng boiler fi ngs are described. With a focus on troubleshoo ng techniques and the concept of internal isola on, a endees par cipate in the recogni on of components and circuits including diodes, capacitors, transformers, relays and more. The latest in ANSI diagrams is discussed, which includes understanding ladders, logic, keys and legends. Circuit board technology in troubleshoo ng the system will also be discussed.
