5 I am honoured and delighted to be the president of Advances in Sport Rehabilitation Conference in Turin I would first like to congratulate the Scientific and Organization Committees on all their hard work to put this conference together and the final scientific program is excellent. I would also like to thank GISPT for all their efforts made in these working towards the Italian process for a professional development pathway in SPT, with the aim of joining the current eight Nations who have had their pathways approved by IFSPT. Congratulations to all of you because I see that in Italy the level of the sports physiotherapist is growing more and more and this is good also for the International Federation in Sport Physical Therapy. Following this conference in Turin, 25 presidents of member countries of IFSPT will meet in a few days in Bern in conjunction with the first World Congress of Sport Physiotherapists. It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible there as well! In the General Meeting IFSPT in Bern, strategies to grow our network and give more value to SPT will be discussed. I m sure that IFSPT and GISPT will have your support for future challenges facing the world of sports physiotherapy. See you in Bern! 7 Dear Friends, Colleagues, and any participant come here with us, Welcome to this Scientific Event on behalf on myself - as the Chair of GISPT- the GISPT Management Board as well as the National Physiotherapists Association (AIFI) Executive Committee. The 1st GISPT Conference takes pride by the Presidency of Nicola Phillips - IFSPT Chair; moreover the GISPT Executive Committee is delighted to see here in Turin so many Speakers from many countries in the world continents, and the involvement of the National Federation Staff Members of Volleyball, Fencing, Winter Sports and Tennis. I would like to thank them and to congratulate with GISPT Management Board, the Staff Members and all the Associates, for their help in making the GISPT growing up so fast. The ASR Conference Organizational Committee Project, leading to the 1st GISPT Conference, our Partners in Scientific and Publishing Projects and (last but not least) the path towards the Italian application to IFSPT for the activation of the Registering Process for Italian Sport Physiotherapists, are the most recent milestones we ve reached. Finally, I thank all the attendees at our 1st International ASR Conference. I hope you ll enjoy your Conference, spending two days among Top Level Sport Rehabilitation Professionists with whom you could have the pleasure to discuss and debate. After the success of the Italian edition in 2014, this year Advances in Sport Rehabilitation become an international event focused on physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation. The goal is to make this event, one of the main scientific events promoted with closer collaboration of the International Federation IFSPT, with most important national scientific networks as well as with the support of the national sport federation and, first of all, of the Italian Olimpic National Commettee (CONI). More than 30 speakers, including 10 international guests, will be the protagonists of the two days that will also include the presentation of important results of TURIN POSITION STATEMENT: LCA POST SURGERY REHABILITATION that will see the conclusion of its work the day before the conference. The event will be enriched by parallel sessions promoted by some partners of the event. ASR2015 has been included in the events of Torino2015 European Capital of Sports. Next edition will be in 2017 with the aim to link to our conference also the Symposium and the GM IFSPT. The scientific GISPT week will include by two courses and a free university conference held by some international guests attending the ASR2015. We also set up a link with the FIRST WORLD SPORTS PHYSICAL THERAPY CONGRESS to be held in Bern on November. GIS Sport will organize a transfer to attend this important conference, that will be linked to the Symposium and the GM IFSPT INTRODUCTION 9

14 LATERAL EVENTS Sport Rehabilitation: Critical Thinking & Dynamic Pratice October 17th - 18th November 16th - 17th The aim of this postgraduate certificate is to provide those who work in Sport and Exercise Medicine (e.g. doctors, physiotherapists, podiatrists) and related areas of practice, with advanced training in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports related injuries and associated conditions. Academic: Philip Glasgow Emergency Medical Response for Sports Physical Therapists November 11th -12th The course has been designed to fulfill the IFSPT Competency 2 on Acute Intervention for Sports Physiotherapists. This course assumes a basic level of training and current competence in first aid and CPR however these will be reviewed during the course. Academics: Mark Brown, Maria Constantinou 14

15 Turin Position Statement: LCA post surgery rehabilitation November 13th This important meeting is built to produce an international document focused on literature review regarding LCA post reconstruction sport rehabilitation. 27 Italian Sport Physical Therapist certification pathway It is finally started officially, after a long preparatory work, the certification path of the Italian title of SPT. The purpose of this certificate is to define objectively, on the basis of certified skills, the level of specialization in the field of sports rehabilitation for those who request it. The definition of three levels, defined by the amount of skills possessed by the standards defined by IFSPT, allow to distinguish between the title of the first, second and third level. The process of recognition can be requested by all ordinary members of the GIS Sport and it involves to provide, in the requested manner, proof of possession, in whole or in part, of the skills that define the figure of the international sports physiotherapist.
