A Centurion s Servant is healed (Matt 8:5-13; Luke 7:1-10) 1. The Centurion was a Gentile, and a contrast to the Jews 2. Note the Centurion s excellence (that which Israel was lacking) a. He knew the Lord s ability (Luke 7:3) b. He knew the Lord s worth (Luke 7:4,7) c. He knew the Lord s authority (Luke 7:8) B. A Son is raised from the dead (Luke 7:11-17) C. John the Baptist in Prison 1. His disciples visit Jesus, asking for confirmation (Matt 11:2-6, Lu 7:18-23) 2. The Lord s discourse concerning John (Mt 11:7-19; Lu 7:24-35) 3. Jesus was in the ship for this storm 2. They asked, What manner of man is this? (Mt 8:27, Mk 4:41, Lu 8:25) B. Jesus heals two men possessed with devils (Mt 8:28-34, Mk 5:1-20, Lu 8:26-39) C. Jesus heals the woman with an issue of blood, and raises the daughter of one of the rulers of the synagogue - Jairus (Mt 9:18-26, Mark 5:21-43, Lu 8:40-56) D. Jesus heals two blind men (Matt 9:27-31) E. Jesus heals another demoniac (Matt 9:32-34) F. Jesus visits Nazareth a second time, and is rejected (Matt 13:54-58, Mark 6:1-6) V. THE FOURTH GALILEAN TOUR A. Overview of the ministry (Matt 9:35-38) 1. The Lord moved with compassion 2. The command to pray for laborers B. Jesus sends out the twelve, in pairs, with power (Mt 10, Mark 6:7-11, Luke 9:1-5) C. John the Baptist is martyred (Matt 14:1-12, Mark 6:14-29, Luke 9:7-9) D. The Lord retires with his Apostles after John s death (Mt 14:13, Mark 6:30-32, Lu 9:10) VI. THE FINAL SIX MONTHS OF THE MINISTRY IN THE GALILEE A. Five thousand are miraculously fed (Mt 14:13-21, Mk 6:33-44, Lu 9:11-17, Jn 6:2-13) 1. This is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels 2. It leads up to the discourse on the bread in John 6:22-59) B. The disciples encounter another storm 1. Jesus prays for them beforehand (Matt 14:23, Mark 6:46) 2. He goes to them in the storm (Matt 14:24-33, Mark 6:47-52, John 6:16-21) 3. Peter walks on the water and is delivered when his faith is shaken C. The Lord withdraws to the region of Tyre and Sidon (Mt 15:21, Mk 7:24 G. The woman of Syrophenicia is healed (Matt 15:22-28, Mark 7:25-30) H. Jesus returns thru Galilee via Decapolis (Mt 15:29-31, Mark 7:31-37) I. Feeding of the Four Thousand (Matt 15:32-38, Mark 8:1-9)
