4 Aikido Seminar October Introduction From October 2008 the third aikido seminar with Satoshi Takeda Sensei took place at the Aikidojo. It s more than 20 years ago when S. Takeda Sensei came first to to teach Aikido. At that time he met Detlef Radüntz Sensei and a friendship started we managed it to invite him for his first Aikido Seminar at the Aikidojo. It was a great event that impressed a lot our students, who asked us to invite him again. So we did and he kindly accepted this invitation. For three days 17 German aikidokas followed the instructions of S. Takeda Sensei and D. Radüntz Sensei (2. instructor) and trained together with the goal to improve their aikido. After the seminar every participant was asked to write a few sentences about his experiences during the last three days similar to the report of last year s seminar. This time the report consists of only four articles. The paper contains the impressions and experiences of the true aikido students during the seminar and a small expression of thanks to Satoshi Takeda Sensei for his support of our dojo. At the end of this report paper you will find a group picture and an attendance list of the seminar s participants. Aikidojo Kienitzer Str

5 Aikido Seminar October Students Reports In this chapter four aikido seminar participants are listed in respect to the chronological order they send us their answers. After a small overview about their aikido biography each of them describes his experience and impressions during the aikido seminar at October Detlef Radüntz First Name: Detlef Family Name: Radüntz Age: 59 years old Aikido Experience: since 1978; Professional instructor in Aikido, Taijiquan, Qigong, Meditation Therapist Graduation: 4. Dan Aikikai Tokyo Dojo: Aikidojo Report: Takeda Satoshi sensei again gave me deep inspiration for teaching Aikido in the future. He reminded us with considerable amount of patience to be carefully attended to the deep matter of spiritual development in aikido practice. Martial arts develop the physical body. This is necessary and very important to keep the body in healthiness. For this we are using the (Aikido-) form. Therefore we have to train the form in martial arts in-depth and to exercise in an ambitiously manner. This is elementary. On the base of the abovementioned practice of the form, we have to develop our spirit in the way of our life. If mind does not change nothing will change. How to realise this great matter in Aikido? Takeda Satoshi sensei gave us several advices to become successful: Aikidojo Kienitzer Str

6 Aikido Seminar October Ki is including breathing, consciousness and body activity together, to connect own Ki with Universal Ki. That synthesis is basic Aikido skill. To make harmony instead of to fight or to step in competition is the message we got. All in all, it is important to combine both aspects to one: body - and mind - synthesis. Body and mind together is one universe... Thanks to Takeda Satoshi sensei for his harmonic movements and his words of instruction. Thea Spiridonidou First Name: Thea Family Name: Spiridonidou Age: 30 years old Aikido Experience: since 2000 daily training; since 2005 on av.: teaching ones a week adults and twice a week kids classes Graduation: 2. Dan Dojo: Aikidojo Report: It's our task in life to develop a good KI. It's our duty in life to help people who want to be helped to develop a good KI. Satoshi Takeda sensei reminded us to forget the fact that we are practising a martial art, to change our minds, not to fight but to work together with our aikido partners. In daily aikido practice there shouldn't be any kind of competition. Much more there should be harmony, sympathy or love for the other. "Spread good feelings and you will get good feelings back" he told us. That's a task everybody has to work on inside of his/her own. It's a task for our heart. The task for our mind it's to become calm and silent, to become crystal clear. Detlef Raduentz sensei helped us to come closer to this mind condition by instructing us zen meditation on every morning of the seminar. Aikidojo Kienitzer Str

7 Aikido Seminar October The task for our body was to become flexible and quick. To move together with our breathing, to move harmonious are actually simple tasks that have to be solved first. Then we can concentrate on keeping always the right direction and to work with the centre point and the centre line, in other words to adjust our centre point and centre line to the centre point and centre line of the other, to become one with him. Aikido it's much more than a martial art, it's a way of be. It's a way to develop ourselves, a way to harmonize ourselves with the universe. Thanks a lot!!! Olaf Böttcher First Name: Olaf Family Name: Böttcher Age: 37 years old Aikido Experience: since 2003, on av.: once a week Graduation: 4. Kyu Dojo: Aikidojo Report: I have started Aikido 5 years ago. Today I try to visit the Aikidojo once a week. I have enjoined the aikido lecture of Takeda Satoshi sensei. I learned a lot about KI feeling and the right position to the ukemi. Most difficult is the Don t thinking. Sometimes it works, especially when I am exhausted. Then it can be that I do very effective techniques and after that I don t know what I have done. I hope Takeda Satoshi sensei will visit us the next years to improve our inspirations. Aikidojo Kienitzer Str

8 Aikido Seminar October Dorothea Diga First Name: Dorothea Family Name: Diga Age: 28 years old Aikido Experience: since 2006, on av.: 4-5 times a week Graduation: 4. Kyu Dojo: Aikidojo Report: It was a very energetic seminar with a nice focus on harmony. I learned that to enable a harmonious contact of different energies what I can do in my responsibility, as nage is to develop the harmony of my own movements. As uke I can use this special unique chance to reach the other. I ll follow, open up and at the moment of dissolution I ll be given back to myself, touching the ground. Satoshi Takeda sensei gave a lot of demonstrations about how to take, hold and send back, down or away different energies from different ukemi. This happened in different modes of time, duration and speed. Doing this, he was moving very clear and straight around his centreline. In the directions back and forward he underlined the importance to move the hara as source for the synchronicity of the movement of arm and leg. That allowed to send energy very far but very soft. In the directions up and down he showed that with flexible knees it is possible to stay in the own centreline whilst never loosing the alignment to the other centreline. I appreciated Satoshi Takeda sensei s humorous presence, looseness and openness that took over to the participants and created a joyful learning atmosphere. Aikidojo Kienitzer Str
