(ScanFishFlight + Fish) The Surface SV is logged to the SVL file and sent to the Seabat echosounder via a COM port. If used, the scanfish SV profile is logged as a multiple profile SVX file, and as a single, most recent, profile SVA file, and NS is updated with the most recent Scanfish profile for online SV profile usage. SVMon makes new SVL and SVX files with names corresponding to NS SBD files, that is, whenever NS changes SBD files, SVMon does also, and places them in the same directory. SVMon gets info about file changes from NS.

3 SVMon sends info about every new profile update to naviscan, if naviscan is setup to use online SV profiles. (setup this in the NsSetup program) SVMon uses its SVA file solely for transfer of the most recent Scanfish profile to NS Getting started. 3.1.Starting the program. Simply run the program from the start menu. Remember to set up the correct Surface SV COM In Port and eventual Surface SV COM Out Port before starting logging. You can check the port input in the COM Port dialog. Setup the UDP port for the scanfish input if used. Scanfish SVMon to NaviScan connection is setup in the NsSetup program. Check your Logging settings in Edit\Logging Settings: Start/stop Logging: If auto mode: NaviScan controls the logging start file, change file and stop file If manual mode: Start logging by pressing the icon with the green bar in the tool bar change file and stop file on yellow and red icon. 4. 4 4 Figure 1: Main window. The main window surface sample area displays information about the two most recently recorded sample periods: current and previous surface SV sample. In case of surface sound velocity out of filter range an alarm is shown with the latest bad value and the time of receive, it can be dismissed by pressing the Alarm button which also becomes visual at alarms. The number of surface sound velocity updates is shown, and incremented when updates are received. The number of received scanfish profiles since the latest start of logging and shift of logging is displayed, when scanfish is active. Surface SV Graph at bottom shows surface SV recordings as a function of time. Scanfish online SV profile Graph to the right shows most recent SV profile File. The name and position of the current SVL log file. Measurements. The number of measurement obtained in the current sample period. Average. Contains the average sound velocity calculated from (Measurements 2) values. Because the minimum and maximum values are disregarded. Min. The lowest value in the sample set. This value has not been used in the calculation. Max. The highest value in the sample set. This value has not been used in the calculation. Std. dev. The standard deviation of the sample set. Time. The time when the last value of the sample set was obtained.

Exits the program, saving the current logfile. 5.2.Edit - Port Setup When the program is not logging, you are able to change the settings for the COM/UDP port from this menu item. You will be presented with the dialog shown in Figure 2: Port settings.. Here you will be able to change the settings to match those of your data source. Figure 2: Port settings. ScanFish use UDP connection and surface sound velocity uses COM port. NEW: For the scanfish UDP port, enter the IP address of the SVMlon-PC netcard (not the address of the sender) 5.3.Edit Logging Settings. Shows the setting dialog for the program, shown in Figure 3: Settings.

6 The settings cannot be changed while logging. 6 Figure 3: Settings. Log update frequency. Determines how often the log should be updated. You can choose to update with a certain time interval or by a certain amount of samples valid values are: Log control. Manual: The user starts and stops the logging manually. This mode is not recommended if using Scanfish. NaviScan: Logging is started from NaviScan File naming. Only active when Manual log control is active, else controlled by naviscan. Automatic: SVL and SVX are named as the NS SBD files. The SVA file is always named onlinesvprofile.sva.they are all placed in the current NS logging directory. Manual: The user chooses the location and name of the SVL log file, each time logging starts. The SVX and SVA are still treated as under Automatic. Filtering If the incoming surface sound velocity telegram has values outside the user definable min / max acceptance window, those values will be rejected with an alarm message, and not logged and shown. If the min show/log update difference is set to 0, all received valid values will be shown and logged, if a min difference is entered, and values received are less than the diff window from the last accepted value, the value is rejected. This reduces the update rate to a minimum, only showing and logging those values that really are changing.

NsSetup For setting up the UDP at which SVMon tells Naviscan about the fileupdate with the latest Scanfish profile, and making Naviscan use online SV profiles from the Scanfish, check the Use SVMon Online SV Profile in the NsSetup program, and eventually change the UDP port (Setup Port) (allways use local address ). This is the place for controlling these common settings for SVMlon and Naviscan. 8. File Formats 8.1.SVL example: , 18:17:01, , 18:17:12, The SVL file is logged with the frequency setup, and whenever changes in SV at 0.1 m/s or more happens. Furthermore the latest measurement is logged when file starts, stops or changes.
