6 Meeting Information Medical Student Activities The Chapter will once again be sponsoring our award winning Medical Students Program on Saturday, March 4. This program received a John Tooker Evergreen Award in 2015 for the Caroline Osborne lecture series. An Evergreen Award is a national award for successful, innovative programs developed by individual chapters. If you plan to attend, when you register, please indicate if you will be attending both days of the meeting (Friday and Saturday) or just the Student meeting on Saturday. Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to: Apply updated knowledge of internal medicine to clinical practice. Apply updated knowledge of diabetes, coronary artery disease in women, anticoagulants, dementia, and chronic pain management to clinical practice. Improve clinical practice by incorporating major new developments in subspecialty medicine. Improve clinical practice by incorporating major new developments in breast/colon/lung cancer screening, pulmonary medicine, GERD, diarrhea, and abnormal LFTs. Understand recent advances in internal medicine. Understand recent advances in vaccines, dermatology, chronic pain management, and osteoporosis. Chapter Awards Please join us for our ACP award reception at 5:15 p.m. on Friday at the conclusion of our meeting. It is with distinct pleasure that the Virginia Chapter presents the following awards to deserving members this year: Laureate Award, the Paul Florentino Volunteerism Award, Community Teaching Award, and the Young Internist Award. The awards will be presented during the reception on Friday evening. Our academic teaching awards will be presented the evening before at the residents dinner. We are also pleased to announce that our Chapter is the recipient of a 2015 Chapter Excellence Award. The Chapter Excellence Award recognizes those chapters that excel in reaching the standards for managing a chapter, such as communicating to members, instituting Medical Students and Resident activities, and advancing and recruiting members.
