1 HANGER RESIDENCY PROGRAM Primary Training Center Biography Charlotte NC WE ARE COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMICALLY BASED PROFESSIONAL STATE OF THE ART INDUSTRY LEADERS HANGER RESIDENTS
2 Hanger Residency Program In 1996, Hanger Clinic established a national residency program that is responsible for the organization, recruitment, management, and oversight of all Hanger/NCOPE accredited residency sites across the United States. Since that time, we have trained over 800 Orthotic and Prosthetic residents at our 150+ NCOPE accredited residency sites. We offer a comprehensive, state of the art, patient care oriented training environment that focuses on the development of new practitioners in the most efficient, effective manner possible. In addition, we have established Primary Training Centers that are especially focused on resident training within a structured medical residency model. Our resident graduates perform much better than the national average on the certificate and licensure board exams and the vast majority remains with Hanger to become industry leaders in education, clinical practice, business, and management. With several business units serving different segments of the O&P industry, Hanger Clinic continues to find new ways to empower human potential for those with physical challenges, while remaining true to our rich history of superior clinical outcomes and customer service. We count on our residents to continue this tradition. Learn more about Hanger s deep-rooted tradition and commitment to education and innovation at our historical website. Our Mission Our mission is to prepare the new graduate for competent, autonomous clinical practice in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. We utilize a comprehensive, gradual experiential model within a broad-based professional and academic environment conducive to the education and training of tomorrow s corporate and industry leaders. Primary Training Centers Hanger Clinic has strategically placed Primary Training Centers throughout the continental United States. These premium residency locations have the benefits of: Scope of Practice: The clinic has a patient base that is diverse relative to age, etiology, and diagnostic sub groups. Volume: The clinic has sufficient patient interactions to give the residents enough repetitions to improve their skills. Oversight/Teaching Environment: The clinic has a commitment from its clinicians to dedicate the time and energy to train residents on a daily basis. Experience: Preceptors must be ABC certified with a minimum of 3 years post certification experience. Contact Us Hanger National Residency Program Phone: Hanger Fax: CBertram@Hanger.com
3 Primary Training Center Information 411 Billingsley Road, Suite 104 Charlotte, NC NCOPE Accredited Program Type 12 month Orthotic Residency 12 month Prosthetic Residency 18 month O&P Clinical Specialty Areas Pediatric Orthotics and Prosthetics Lower and Upper Extremity Prosthetics Advanced Technology Insignia WalkAide Microprocessor Knees and Feet Scoliosis Cranial Remolding Orthoses Resident Opportunities The Charlotte Residency program exposes residents to a diversified patient population of age and diagnoses in multiple care settings. With a large pediatric orthotic and amputee patient population, Charlotte residents are introduced to a broad range of pathologies and medical conditions. Our Charlotte area has recently grown after acquiring a local practice and we have established two separate locations for our Orthotic center and Prosthetic center. This allows us to specialize our patient care. These branches are surrounded by a network of medical facilities, multiple hospitals and 10 Hanger satellite offices. Residents will attend Grand Rounds at the hospital and will be encouraged to attend routine office visits and therapy appointments with their patients. Residents will take part in all aspects of patient care and spend valuable time at our in-house fabrication facility to gain strong technical fabrication skills. We promote the introduction to, and use of, the best cutting edge technology of our field e.g., the Insignia scanner and software, Walk Aide, microprocessor knees and feet, myoelectric upper extremity prostheses, etc.
