Teaching methods Teaching methods will include group and self paced individual activities, workbooks, research activities, case studies, practical demonstrations, video presentations, guest speakers, practical tasks, role playing and on the job training. Assessment methods Assessment methods will include individual and group presentations, repeated practical exercises, practical demonstration of skills to assess competencies in a simulated workplace, written assessments, oral and/or written questioning to assess the acquisition and maintenance of competencies, analysis of case studies, written folio, role playing, written reports, skills portfolio and workbooks. Facilities and Services The Hospitality Training Centre is set in the picturesque Swipers Gully Vineyard opposite the main ELTHAM campus. The Centre includes: An expansive training kitchen for 20 trainees, considered to be one of the best professional cooking facilities in Melbourne A Restaurant and Bar that can provide a full function facility for 120 people or three smaller functions. Two training rooms one fully computer equipped Dedicated lockers, change/shower rooms for students Teaching and Learning Facilities include: Access to 200 publicly available computers Large and well resourced library Laboratories, including a laboratory that can service food laboratory work Teaching space Student services include: Full careers service Counselling service First-aid medical officer Canteen and Café Hospitality Programs for International Students

The College will not change its fees for However, if a student is enrolled for more than one year, a fee increase of approximately 10% per annum should be budgeted for inflation. COSTS ADDITIONAL TO TUITION FEES Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC) All international students are required, as a condition of their student visa, to maintain private health insurance for the duration of their visa. The current rate is $324 per year and as part of your acceptance of a place, you will be required to take out OSHC through Medibank Private unless you already have a current membership. If you would prefer to arrange OSHC for yourself, you may delete this cost from the acceptance documentation. For further information on OSHC, please refer to the following website: Stationery, Text Books, Uniforms and equipment required for specific courses Estimated at approximately $400, but dependent on specific course requirements. It is expected that students will dress in neat casual clothes appropriate to the industry for which they are training. However additional costs will be incurred for uniforms that must be worn in specialist classes, eg kitchens and restaurants, as well as the equipment required for these courses. Living Expenses It is recommended that students allow for living costs of approximately $A 12,000 to $A 15,000 per year above their tuition fees to cover costs of: Accommodation (bond, furniture, weekly rental costs vary depending if single or shared accommodation). The College does not provide on-campus accommodation for students nor does it offer an accommodation service in the form of homestay. All students are expected to make their own accommodation arrangements. Meals Transport Gas, electricity, water Personal items (clothes, entertainment, incidental expenses)
4 PAYMENT OF FEES The first semester fees or the total course fees if duration of course is less than 6 months, is payable upon acceptance of a place together with a non-refundable administrative fee of $A 100. Tuition and other fees may be paid by the following methods: Cash Credit Card (Visa or Master Card) Bank Draft payable to Eltham College in A$ to an Australian bank Electronic Transfer Payee Eltham College Bank National Australia Bank Branch Number (BSB) Account Number When using Bank Drafts or Electronic Transfers: The student must pay for any bank charges relating to these methods of payment As soon as your bank processes the transaction, a copy of the bank confirmation must be forwarded by fax or mail so the College can identify the payment. Students continuing their enrolment, must pay semester fees in advance as follows: Students who started in February must pay the next semester s fees by the second week in June Students who started in July must pay the next semester s fees by second week in December Invoices for these payments will be mailed to the student s residential address recorded by the College. It is essential that you notify us of any change of address, as non-receipt of the invoice will not be accepted as a reason for non payment by the due date. Penalties for Late Payment of Fees If fees are unpaid fourteen days after the due date, an Administrative Fee of $A50 will be charged to your account. Interest will then be charged at that day and every month thereafter until the account is brought up to date. The Administrative Fee will apply to each term and the interest rate will be that specified by the National Australia Bank as their nominated overdraft interest rate at that date. An international student will not be permitted to continue studying at the College if fees are not paid on time and DIMIA will be notified accordingly. REFUND POLICY The Application Fee is non-refundable and will be deducted from any refunds specified below. If an accepted place is cancelled prior to the course starting date, the following will apply: If a student cancels a confirmed enrolment because of exceptional and compassionate reasons such as the death or severe illness of the immediate family, a full refund of monies paid will be made. If written notice is received more than 28 days before the starting date of the course, a cancellation fee of A$500 will be deducted from fees paid in advance. If a student withdraws within 28 days of the course starting date, no refund of any monies paid will be made If a student is refused a student visa, all monies paid in advance will be refunded. Evidence of student visa refusal must be provided. In cases where the College defaults and in unable to provide a course after formal acceptance and payment by the student, a refund of all monies paid in advance will be made in accordance with the provisions of the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations If a student withdraws after a course has started, the following will apply: No refund will be made. Students must apply directly to Medibank Private for any possible refund of Overseas Student Health Cover. This agreement does not remove the right of a student to take further action under Australia s consumer protection law. All claims for a refund must be made in writing clearly identifying the reason for the refund and must include supporting evidence where appropriate. The date of notification of the request for refund is the date the request is received by the College. All refunds will be made payable to the applicant in Australian dollars. 8 CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT 1. Enrolments Appplication for admission must be made on the appropriate application form and forwarded with certified academic recorsds, evidence of English proficiency and payment of the application fee (where appropriate). 2. Admission Requirements Australian Year 12 (or recognized equivalent conducted in the medium of English) Or at least 18 years of age with one year of relevant work experience and satisfactory completion of Australian Year 10 (or recognized Australian equivalent). Plus English Language Proficiency demonstrated by ONE of the following: Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 with no band below 5.0 (or recognized equivalent) Advanced English language certificate from recognized English language centre. English is the first language. 3. Offer of Place Students who meet the admission requirements for their requested course will be provided with an offer of a confirmed place which specifies the name of course, date of entry, completion date of course, enrolment fees payable upon acceptance and estimated course costs. 4. Acceptance Acceptance of the offer and payment of enrolment fees is due within three weeks from the date of offer, with the exception of applicants from AL3 and AL4 rated countries, who should pay the enrolment fees withing three weeks of receiving their Pre Visa Assessment (PVA). When payment and the signed Acceptance document are received by the College, an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (ecoe) will be issued for the student to apply for a visa. 5. Enrolment and Course Fees Course fees and other charges must be paid in accordance with the International Schedule of Fees produced by the College each year. The first semester tuition fees are prepaid as part of enrolment fees. However, once a student commences at ELTHAM, fees are payable by the due date set out in the payment policy on the International Schedule of Fees. A fee invoice will be sent and must be paid by the due date. 6. Attendance International students are reminded that they are required to attend at least 80% of the scheduled contact hours of the course each semester (Visa condition 8202). For a prolonged absence of two days or more, a doctor s certificate should be provided. 7. Refund Agreement The Application Fee is non-refundable and will be deducted from any refunds specified below.
