2 Our mobile apps are used approx. 1.5m times per month by sales persons globally 2
3 We apply 5 core concepts when modeling and developing our mobile apps Mobility - Work on the move Is this a mobile or only a portable scenario?. Clarification if the effort for an app is justified. Atomized apps Apps designed for one single purpose (instead of several usage scenarios). Context switch Transfer the current context into another app (see next slide). Rapid prototyping Think in circles. The first version of an app will be implemented only with the absolute essential scope. Further enhancements can follow if the planned benefit was reached. End-user focused Design apps FOR end-users WITH end-users 3
4 Our newest concept is the Context Switch paradigm A feature that allows the user to quickly access and jump between different applications like a shortcut. Find what you re looking for with fewer steps and without re-doing work. Still atomized by using the publish-subscriber pattern. 4

6 Our mobile apps are productivity drivers (I/II) My Calendar Quick and easy access to all activities Pricing Right price at the right time Contacts The Hilti address book My Calendar gives an overview of the planned activities and relevant information about your appointments. The Pricing app gives the sales person accurate information on customer specific product prices. Contacts app provides all relevant Hilti contacts on the phone for further use. 6
7 Our mobile apps are productivity drivers (II/II) Stock Locator A direct answer of the available stock Customer Finances Clear financial status instantly Data Update Improves data quality The Stock Locator is the app to be used when an overview of the available stock in Hilti centres and warehouses is needed. The Customer Finances app gives an overview of a customers financial status as well as any open invoices. The Data Update app helps to maintain the data quality of the customers information. 7

12 In 2013 we have kicked off a student exchange with Faculty of Informatics at the University of Vienna for working on a modeling method for mobile apps Defining the initial metamodels, semantics and graphical representations Initial implementation of the Data model, Interaction model and Infrastructure model into ADOxx Test modeling of some Hilti internal application 12
