4 Professor James Hayton Professor of HRM and Entrepreneurship Began my career at NatWest Bank PhD in Human Resource Management (Georgia State University, US) 15 years in US, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, San Jose State, Utah 5 years in Italy at SDA Bocconi in Milan Co-lead on the Enterprise Research Centre work programme on management capabilities and growth in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Funded by BIS to study leadership and management skills and their relationship with management practices and growth in UK SMEs Editor in Chief at Human Resource Management the only HRM journal included in the Financial Times list of influential management journals

11 MSc Human Resource Management & Employment Relations: Programme structure Year 1: Term 1 - TWO core modules (January to March 2015) Introduction to Human Resource Management (Exam) Organisational Behaviour (Essay) Year 1: Term 2 - TWO core modules (April to June 2015) Managing Human Resources (Essay) Employment Relations in Global Context (Exam) Year 1: Term 3 - TWO core modules (September to December 2015) Researching Human Resource Management & Employment Relations (Dissertation Proposal, 2,500 words (90%); Group presentation (10%)) Human Resource Management Professional Practice (Combination of in-class tests, reports and presentations) Year 2: Term 1 - ONE elective module plus continuation of HRM Professional Practice (January to March 2016) New cohort lecture times: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 18:00 21:00 starting the third week in January. Elective 1 Year 2: Term 2 - TWO elective modules (April to June 2016) Elective 2 Elective 3 Year 2: Term 3 Dissertation (April 2016 to December 2016) 10k words. Submitted December 2016, (plus 1.5k words management report for CIPD purposes)

13 The CIPD route through the MSc No extra fee from Warwick, but you will need to pay CIPD membership fees and join the CIPD formally There are no additional workload requirements to qualify for CIPD membership over and above the workload requirements of the MSc All requirements for practical skills training are contained within the HRM Professional Practice module

14 Successful students will graduate with the MSc and also the Advanced Level standard of the CIPD (equivalent to the CIPD s Advanced Diploma in HRM) After graduation, you then upgrade to full professional membership

15 Entry criteria Applicants with no work experience a 2:1 or better (in any subject area) Applicants with 1 year experience in HRM-related role (e.g. work in job centres, unions) a 2.2 or better (in any subject area) Applicants with 2 years senior-level experience in HRM/employment no prior degree required - review of CV Personal statement

16 Fees and bursaries Year 1 fee: 12,500 Year 2 fee: 13,000 bursaries are available covering 50 per cent of fees in both years (hence students winning a bursary will ultimately pay 12,750) all applications will automatically be considered for a 50% scholarship - there are no extra scholarship application forms required. a large scholarship pot is available exclusively for this programme
