1 2015 Financial Awards for Culinary Students These awards are all applicable to the Culinary Arts Department students. All you need to do is apply. Some of these awards are identified as being decided by program faculty but the criteria is varied. Many are driven by financial need.

2 Aramark Bursary Bursary Selected by a committee convened by the TRU Awards Office. Application Method: General TRU Online Application Three awards of $500 each awarded to students demonstrating financial need. 4 Kamloops Rotary Culinary Arts Award Selection Process: Application Method: Selection Criteria: Accept Applications: Requires Documentation Applications Accepted: Award Selected based on recommendations from the appropriate Faculty, School or TRU Department (Athletics, TRU World, etc.). Application Not Required No Formal Appl (consult award criteria) Two or more bursaries totaling $5000 for Culinary Arts students who show great culinary potential. Preference to Level 2 students entering Level 3 and students with demonstrated financial need. No No

5 SIDIT Post-Secondary Award Selection Process: Application Method: Selection Criteria: Accept Applications: Bursary Selected by a committee convened by the TRU Awards Office. General TRU Online Application $50,000 per year is available in the Fall and Winter terms in bursaries of varying size to full-time students on the Kamloops campus in all Trades and Technology Foundation programs as well as ARET, Culinary Arts, CSOM, DAD, Engineering Transfer, Horticulture, and Retail Meat Processing. Students must normally demonstrate financial need. No Applications

6 Aug 10, Sept16,2016 Award Detail Information Canoe Creek Award Award Selected by a committee or body external to TRU. Application Method: Application To External Awards Group External Organization An entrance award is available for a student from the Canoe Creek Band attending full-time studies at TRU with preference going to students entering the Aboriginal Culinary Arts program. This award is intended to cover housing costs, food costs, tuition fees and books. Accept Applications: No Additional No Documentation:

7 Ken Lepin Prize of Excellence in Culinary Arts Prize Selected based on recommendations from the appropriate Faculty, School or TRU Department (Athletics, TRU World, etc.). Application Method: Application Not Required No Formal Application (consult award criteria) One award provided annually to a top student enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. Additional criteria for faculty selection provided by the donor include consideration of attendance, attitude, practical ability and aptitude for the industry, creativity, professionalism, tidiness of uniform and appearance. 12 Gail and Jim Martin Bursary Bursary Selected by a committee convened by the TRU Awards Office. Application Method: General TRU Online Application Provides two annual bursaries to students who demonstrate financial need and are performing satisfactorily in their program. Preference is that one award go to a student in a Food Training program and a second award is open to a student in any Trades & Technology program. Application Method: General TRU Online Application Awarded annually to students who are sons/daughters of present or past members of the Williams Lake K-40 or Kinsmen Clubs. Secondly to students who are residents of Williams Lake. Accept Applications: Yes Additional Documentation: No

17 CUPE Local 3500 Award Award Selected by a committee convened by the TRU Awards Office. Application Method: General TRU Online Application Two awards of $1500 awarded annually to any dependent of a CUPE Local 3500 member (or deceased member) who has held membership for at least two years. The award is for a student attending a minimum of 8 months, full time. Awarded on the basis of satisfactory academic standing with preference given to a student demonstrating financial need.
