Conclusions 1. Since last year the number of courses has increased. 2. Cybersecurity education is being developed within existing studies. 3. Almost all programs that have been developed have their roots in Bèta science. 4. Cybersecurity education includes two sorts of tracks: - ICT / Security Management (system oriented from a technological point of view) - Digital Forensics (crime oriented from a technological point of view) - Cybersafety / Law Enforcement (crime oriented from a criminological p.o.v.)
NHL University of Applied Sciences Study: Safety & Security Management (BSc) Track: Cyber Safety & Law Enforcement
The Track Cyber Safety Started In 2010 Study Year Content : Minor Cyber Safety (30EC) 2011: Thesis in the field of Cyber Safety (30EC)
This Years Track Cyber Safety Study Year Content 1. Course: Cyber Security (general introduction, 5EC) 2. Course: Cyber Safety (portfolio, 5EC) 3. Internship in the field of Cyber Safety and Security (30EC) 4. Minor Law Enforcement in Digital Society (30EC) Thesis in the field of Cyber Safety (30EC)
Next Years Track Cyber Safety Study Year Content 1. Course: Cyber Security (general introduction, 5EC) 2. Course: Cyber Safety (portfolio, 5EC) 3. Minor Cyber Safety (30EC) Internship in the field of Cyber Safety and Security (30EC) 4. Minor Law Enforcement in Digital Society (30EC) Thesis in the field of Cyber Safety (30EC)
Character of the Track The focus is on the criminological, legal, human and managerial facets, not on technology as such. The track provides global knowledge of technological aspects, (to be able to communicate with the experts). The track provides in depth knowledge of crime and safety and security problems and how to deal with them. Consequently, the track provides advanced understanding of: cybercrime, victimization, law enforcement, public-private partnerships, the role of end users, security measures, ethics.
Education cannot flourish without research. Cybersecurity needs a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore a multidisciplinary collaboration is being developed between NHL University of Applied Sciences Open University Police Academy
This collaboration includes among others: - computer science - criminology - law - psychology More about this during the next months.
