3 More reliability HiPath 5000 Real Time IP Systems offer especially high reliability and outage protection. All components are perfectly matched to each other. By using independent gateways, it has been possible to achieve a solution with exceptionally high levels of protection against outage. This means that communication is always guaranteed, even in the event of an interruption in the company IP network. More flexibility The HiPath 5000 Real Time IP System offers you the highest levels of flexibility and performance. This means that existing communications solutions can be integrated cost-effectively on a step-bystep basis be they workstations equipped with IP or standard phones, notebooks with softclients, or mobile solutions such as PDAs using WLAN. Similarly, HiPath 5000 can also be seamlessly integrated into existing HiPath Real Time IP Systems, such as HiPath 3000 and HiPath 4000, via IP or TDM. Even existing, previously non-ip compatible analog equipment, such as conventional analog fax machines or phones can be easily connected into the LAN environment using the AP 1120 access point. More security for your communication HiPath 5000 uses security encryption to protect your communications against unauthorized access to confidential conversations. Based on international standards, both call details and signaling paths are encrypted. And without any additional software or hardware, because the encryption is done directly in the existing end devices and in the gateways used. But reduced costs The HiPath 5000 Real Time IP System is a fully integral part of the IT environment. This means that, with IP telephony, you have only one network to manage, leading to a significant reduction in administrative effort. Operational and connection costs can be reduced through centrally managed and distributed applications and functions, such as IP Trunking and IP Payload Switching. 4 Everything you expect from an IP infrastructure VoIP (Voice over IP): Voice transmission based on internet protocol in real time via the IP infrastructure. IP (Internet Protocol): Voice is digitalized and divided into tiny data packages (packet transmission). These are then converted back into voice at the receiving end. LDAP: Interface for access to company internal directories, with direct dial enabled via the phone. LAN (Local Area Network): local network for connecting IP phones, WLAN access points and PCs to a central server. VPN (Virtual Private Networking): secure access to company networks, e.g. by teleworkers via the internet. IP Trunking: Networking of several Real Time IP Systems via IP. QoS (Quality of Service): The priority afforded to VoIP data packages ensures voice transmission with undetectable delay and to the highest levels of voice quality. H.323 Protocol: standard protocol for the transmission of Voice over IP for all network components and devices. Router: active network connection nodes, responsible for transmitting and reassembling data packages correctly. Codec: converts analog speech into digital data packages and then extracts the voice information from the data packages so that they can be heard on the terminal device. Gateway: interface between IP and the Public Service Telephone Network (PSTN) or telecommunications system to TDM standard (Time Division Multiplexing) for conversion of differing data formats, i.e. digital ISDN data into IP packages and vice versa. Multi-gateway system: Local dialing into public networks via IP connection between Real Time IP Systems at different locations. Gatekeeper. By replicating the functions of a conventional phone system within the IP network, user authorization levels can be checked, data package IP addresses allocated to the phone numbers of the desired user, available communication bandwidths administered, and routing managed. The perfect software solution Payload switching: voice/data packages are passed directly from one user to another within a company network. In a Real Time IP System only the call management takes place and not the switching of the data packages. This enables the management of significantly greater call traffic and relieves the load on the data infrastructure. One Number Service: Make and receive calls on any phone using the same number. Structured cabling: all devices are connected via a CAT6 cable system. The HiPath 5000 Real Time IP System is an innovative enterprise softswitch that fits into your company s server structure. The gatekeeper function replicates the functions of a conventional phone system within an IP network.
