2 The benefits of working at The Portland Hospital Children s services The Portland Hospital has an international reputation for excellence, at the forefront of private healthcare. We offer a wide range of specialities from ENT and neurosurgery to gastroenterology and complex craniofacial cases. We work with the country s leading consultants, from London s top teaching hospitals, using the latest technologies. We deal with around 1,500 inpatient admissions and over 3,500 day cases per annum The average length of inpatient stay is five days We see patients who are insured, self pay, embassy and charity-sponsored We receive over 50,000 children s outpatient visits per annum We work with over 120 top specialist paediatric consultants from leading hospitals such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina London Children s Hospital and University College Hospital Our facilities 60 dedicated paediatric beds, including ten PICU beds, an 11-bed day case unit and a nine-bed acute rehabilitation unit Full range of imaging services, ultrasound, X-ray, interventional radiology, MRI and CT (including CT and MRI under GA) Neurophysiology (EMG and EEG) Audiology services Neonatal care One-stop-shop therapy services Playrooms and play specialist team

4 Company-paid benefits Annual leave A basic annual leave allowance of hours per annum You will receive an increase to a total of 270 hours basic annual leave on completion of five complete calendar years of service, increasing to a total of 285 hours basic annual leave on completion of ten complete years of service The Healthcare Trust Scheme You are entitled to private health cover once you have passed your probationary period You will be sent an telling you to log onto Beneflex and select a lifestyle event, to indicate that you have passed probation Until you have completed one year s service, you have 3,000 worth of cover; after one year you will automatically receive full cover, which covers you in all HCA hospitals You can add partners and children to your cover after one year of service Life assurance If you die whilst employed by HCA, we will provide a lump-sum payment to the people you have nominated The policy pays out double your annual basic salary This cover is provided to all staff from their first day of employment Beneficiaries are nominated through an Expression of wish form Critical illness cover After you complete one year s service, you will receive 10,000 worth of critical illness cover Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) EAP provides you with FREE access to a confidential support service, staffed with qualified professionals who are always on hand to offer support and practical advice on a variety of issues EAP can be utilised both by the telephone (freephone number) and on their website Both the telephone line and the website are available for you to use free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week Portland maternity benefit This benefit is available to you or your partner (irrespective of which of you works for HCA) The discounted cost has to be met by you and settled directly with the hospital
5 Voluntary employee-paid benefits Childcare vouchers This offers you a tax-efficient way of paying for registered childcare You will not pay income tax or national insurance on a specified portion of the voucher value Vouchers can be used for children up to 16 years of age Voucher entitlements can be changed to meet your childcare needs This benefit can be taken up at any time The company offers vouchers at a discount rate of ten per cent (for example, to receive 243 in vouchers, you will only pay 225) Season ticket loan After you successfully complete your probation, you are entitled to take a season ticket loan that enables you to buy an annual ticket for the tube or national rail service You can borrow up to 4,999, which will be deducted from your pay on a monthly basis over a maximum period of 12 months Pension scheme All employees are automatically opted-in to the pension scheme Contributions are based on a sliding scale, increasing with length of service: Years 1-4: employee pays up to 3%, employer pays up to 3% Years 5-9: employee pays up to 4%, employer pays up to 4% Years 10-14: employee pays up to 6%, employer pays up to 6% Years 15-19: employee pays up to 7%, employer pays up to 7% Years 20-24: employee pays up to 8%, employer pays up to 8% Years 25+: employee pays up to 9%, employer pays up to 9%
6 Flexible benefits All employees contracted under HCA terms and conditions will have access to flexible benefits through the online benefits website. Dental insurance You can choose to take up dental insurance at a heavily reduced rate to manage dental costs Three plans are available to choose from, depending on the level of cover required There is an option to add your partner and children to the insurance Personal accident insurance You can choose to take up insurance to cover you in the event of becoming disabled, either catastrophically or non-catastrophically The level of cover purchased can be tailored to suit your individual needs Costs and full policies are available on the website Cover is applied anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year
7 Tastecard Tastecard is a discount dining card that you can use to receive special discounts, including 50 per cent off or two-for-one offers on food at various restaurants across the UK You can choose to purchase this card for a discounted rate of 35 instead of the recommended retail price of 50 Life assurance You can choose to increase or decrease your life assurance cover Cover can be increased to a maximum of four times your annual salary, at an additional cost to yourself Cover can also be decreased to match your annual salary, which would result in additional monies being paid back to you Costs and full policies are available on the website Cyclescheme You can choose to hire a bicycle from HCA for a period of 12 months Voucher values are between 100 and 1,000 At the end of the hire period, you can take the option to buy the bike at the Fair Market Value, and you will be told what the Fair Market Value is when you take out the agreement Full scheme information is available on the benefits website Once this option is selected, you will be provided with an voucher that can be redeemed at various stores across the UK Employee discount services Substantial discounts are available from numerous high street retailers Receive savings at supermarkets including Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda Savings are available in clothes stores (such as Debenhams) and home improvement stores
8 Gymflex We offer discounts on gym memberships at a number of health and fitness clubs across the UK Participating gyms include large chains as well as smaller independent gyms Lifestyle screening You can opt for a screening that provides in-depth, one-to-one discussion with a GP at occupational health You will complete a pre-assessment questionnaire, then a one-toone appointment is made Following the appointment, a confidential report and recommendations are provided Costs and details are available on the website (cost at March 2013 was 175) Flexible annual leave You are able to buy two days of annual leave for the upcoming leave year each November. The cost of purchasing this leave is deducted from your pay Alternatively, you can choose to sell up to five days annual leave, which in turn gets paid back to you via payroll The value of the annual leave is based on your basic annual salary
