An exclusive offer for a teen driving presentation which is dynamic, interactive, and a must for teens or college students commuting to and from universities. Driving Safety Solutions Inc. P R ES E N TS Teen TRAFFIC CRASHES DRIVING COURSE are the leading cause of teen fatalities, accounting for 44% of teen deaths in the U.S. 1. Introduction to a parent teen driving contract. 2. Video designed to address the teens feeling of invincibility. 3. PowerPoint presentation Tactical Driving for Teens. 4. Train the Trainer: teaching parents how to develop space relationship with the vehicle the teen driver will be using. 5. Questions and answer session.

TACTICAL TEEN DEFENSIVE DRIVING: I have investigated car crashes involving teen drivers for over thirty four years and have personally seen the destructive effects they can have on our lives. I have developed this teen driving presentation to address the root causes of teen car crashes. This information was developed based on my experiences investigating crashes involving teen drivers. I have listened well to all the reasons teen drivers have given when they have crashed their vehicles. I have addressed all the root causes and developed a course of action the driver can easily apply to prevent being involved in a vehicle crash. The teen driver will see through my eyes a very graphic explanation of what happens during a car crash. I will discuss the effects of speed, alcohol, distracted driving and peer pressure have leading up to a car crash. This course will also familiarize the driver with a mechanism to increase overall alertness and vehicle space relationship which is used in conjunction with surrounding highway and environmental conditions. I guarantee you will leave the class forever changed as a defensive driver and never think about driving the same way! Call for more information

This course will also familiarize the driver with a mechanism to increase overall alertness and vehicle space relationship which is used in conjunction with surrounding highway and environmental conditions. I guarantee you will leave the class forever changed as a defensive driver and never think about driving the same way. Take a tour with a thirty four year law enforcement officer and discover what a difference it will make in your driving attitude and skill set. The presentation class time is 4 hours. Course Outline for Teen Defensive Driving Video: Car vs. Gasoline Tanker 10 min This segment covers the anatomy of a crash involving a car and gasoline tanker in 2006 killing four people. How did situational awareness play a role in the non fault vehicle? A correlation will be made on how much time is spent on concentrating on our driving and how we put our vehicles in poor tactical positions. 1

Occupant Restraint 15 min Two thirds of teens killed in crashes were not wearing seat belts. 1 Teens have the lowest seat belt use of any age group. 2 This segment covers the importance of seatbelt usage and discusses the three phases of a traffic crash. Each phase is a dynamic event causing the release and absorption of energy. This energy release has a direct relationship to occupant injury and your survival in a traffic crash. Dynamic videos shown. 1. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Traffic Safety Facts DOT HS Table 68, pg Available at: SBTeens.pdf. Accessed April 7, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Teen Drivers: Fact Sheet. Video: The Diana Factor 15 min Accident Causation 15 min The Diana Factor video is a compelling video detailing the anatomy of the crash that killed Princess Diana. Seatbelts and speed are the focus of this dramatic recreation of the crash. The forces applied to Princesses Diana body are discussed in detail by the attending physician. This segment covers accident causation as it relates to everyday driving patterns. In order to avoid traffic crashes, we must understand their root causes and factors which lead to those crashes. Some of the factors discussed are: Driver input errors, driving violations such as careless driving, improper turns, and speeding or speed too fast for conditions, violation of right of way, improper backing, improper lane change, following too close Other contributory factors Road features, curves overpass, upside overpass, downside overpass, on ramps off ramps, weather, sun glare, occupant distraction, interior distraction, and cell phones usage. Driver distraction is the leading cause of motor vehicle collisions. Collision Avoidance 1 Hour 30 min This segment provides the driver with the necessary information to incorporate instinctive driving techniques by understanding vehicle dynamics through both theoretical and practical 2

Lane Changes 10 min interpretation. The instruction covers Tactical Defensive Driving (TDD) which is used in collision avoidance. This is accomplished by incorporating vehicle control techniques while incorporating early hazard recognition. The driver will be able to develop a method of commentary driving through a process of thought into speech exercises and muscle memory techniques. This instruction is extremely helpful in avoiding being involved in a rear end collision or loss of control crashes. Situational awareness will give the driver an insight into driving patterns which lead to being alerted to changing conditions versus situational shock. This section also covers vehicle space relationship which is used in conjunction with surrounding highway and environmental conditions. Proper braking techniques will be covered to reduce the effects of radical weight transfer which is a leading cause of loss of vehicle control. This segment covers proper adjustment of mirrors, avoiding blind spots, and the proper way to facilitate a safe lane change. Avoiding Intersection Accidents 15 min Backing 15 min This segment covers how to tactically drive through an intersection and reduce your exposure to a collision. Discussed are covering the brake, situational awareness, and evasive maneuvers. This segment covers proper backing techniques. We drive forward 99% of the time, however backing accidents account for approximately 32 to 40% of fleet accidents. Discussed in this section will be: i. Environmental surroundings which lead to backing accidents. ii. Parking lot backing procedures iii. Proper vehicle position prior to backing iv. Proper body position while backing v. Minimizing you need to back by incorporating proper parking techniques. Drug and Alcohol Abuse 15 Minutes This segment discussed the effects of alcohol and or drugs as it relates to the drivers psycho motor skills. The dangers and consequences associated with impairment. Fatal Vision is an evidenced based training tool used to vividly demonstrate the concept of impairment and the dangers of alcohol and other drug misuse and abuse. The Fatal Vision goggles distort vision and cause reactions that mimic behaviors exhibited by someone under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. The student can slip on the glasses and gain a better understanding of what physical functions are lost when you are impaired 3

Traffic Laws 10 Minutes These segment discuss the Florida State Traffic Statutes as it relating to: I. Driver s License II. Most cited violations by law enforcement officers III. Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Video: Red Asphalt V 30 min Parent Teen Contract: This latest video is hosted by a teenager and is primarily intended to influence teen attitudes toward safe driving. 42,000 people are killed each year in the U.S. as a result of car crashes. That's equivalent to the loss of two jumbo jets every week. The video points out that the number one cause of death for teens is car crashes. It is probably the most graphic of all the Red Asphalt videos and promises to be the most effective. There are several interviews with the families and friends of the victims displaying the devastating effect that the death of their loved one has had on their lives. This video is sure to catch the attention of the viewer and will hopefully lead to less injuries and fatalities on the road. An outline your teen s key driving responsibilities. Decide on the consequences associated when those responsibilities aren t met. Define your role in helping your teen succeed. Question and Answer Period 15 Minutes 4
