3 How Realtime Distance Learning Works The teleconferencing system for this program, provided by the University of Wisconsin, is called WisLine Web, and combines the ease of an audio conference call with the power of visually interactive web based materials. You can participate in the program from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone. You simply dial in to the phone conference and point your browser to the pre assigned URL to enter the WisLine Web conference center. The application is easy to learn and works with your browser, so there is no need to download or install software. Comprehensive in scope and content, this online seminar will be delivered in six two hour teleconferencing sessions, supplemented with readings and discussion hosted on our course web site. You ll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in realtime during live teleconferencing sessions and the time between sessions. 5 About Your Instructors JOHN FETTERS, C.E.M., C.L.E.P., is a lighting consultant and president of Effective Lighting Solutions, Inc. Columbus, OH. Mr. Fetters is a senior member of the Association of Energy Engineers and chairs AEE s Certified Lighting Efficiency Board. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IESNA), for which he serves on the IES VELSD Committee and is an advisory member of the Industrial Lighting Committee. He has lectured and is widely published in the lighting field. He was inducted into the AEE Hall of Fame in T. KENNETH SPAIN, P.E., C.E.M., C.L.E.P., is an energy analyst with three decades of experience in applied energy management and engineering. He is an on call research scientist at the University of Alabama, Huntsville following 25 years of service managing energy efficiency programs and conducting training programs to help government, institutional, industrial and commercial clients identify cost effective energy strategies for their facilities. Mr. Spain was inducted into the AEE Hall of Fame in Continuing Education Credit and Course Certificate After completing all six two hour modules of the Fundamentals of Lighting Efficiency Online Seminar, you will be awarded 1.2 CEU of continuing education credit. 6 After Your Online Training, Consider Becoming Certified: AEE s Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional Program The Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP) Program administered by the Association of Energy Engineers gives lighting efficiency involved professionals the opportunity to receive recognition for their specialized knowledge and experience, and to demonstrate their high level of lighting efficiency expertise to clients, employers and colleagues. Widely recognized throughout industry and government, this certification has the dual purpose of both recognizing the most qualified lighting efficiency professionals, and raising the overall professional standards within the field. APPLYING FOR CERTIFICATION: THE CLEP EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT In addition to meeting specific educational and experience requirements detailed below, candidates for CLEP certification must successfully complete AEE's CLEP preparatory training seminar, as well as the required four hour open book CLEP exam. Fundamentals of Lighting Efficiency Online Seminar is an approved preparatory vehicle for those wishing to sit for the CLEP exam. The exam cannot be administered online. In order to take the exam following completion of your online training seminar, you must first apply for certification. The cost for applying for CLEP certification, including taking the exam at an ACT certified remote testing center is $400 (not included in seminar registration fee).
