6 Updating deployed hubs home remotely: Home Hubs check an online repository for updates Then, download new binaries and configuration files when appropriate. You can remotely update these things on a hub: Configurations (xml files) Binaries for the modules and scouts Platform binaries LoT Update Manager tool provides a GUI to update deployed home hu bs remotely 6

7 HomeOS hub will compress its configuration files as a zip file Then the hub periodically upload the zip file to the Azure blob storage upload compress actualconfig.zip 7

8 The Azure storage account is configured in Settings.xml. 8

9 To remotely update the configs on a hub: Place the desired config files (zip format) into blob storage Run the hub to download the zip file The hub will extract and run setting files from the blob storage The frequency of config synchronization is defined by ConfigLookupFr equency element in the settings.xml file. 9

11 To update platform, the HomeOS Watchdog service should be run on the hub If the checkforupdates flag is enabled, Watchdog will find the newer version of the binaries and update the Platform from the repository. the repository URI is defined in RepositoryURIs in the settings.xml file. 11

25 Setup a secure FTP site Step 5: Accessing the FTP server In ftp directory, create an sample Test.txt file In a browser, open your ftp site (don't support SSL/TLS without special plug ins) Using your PC IP address to access the configured ftp site Connect locally using the address: ftp:// (admin) 25

27 Configure settings on the hub This part explains how to configure watchdog service to check update for the system Add watchdog into the solution Set the repository URI Use the configured ftp 27

35 Upload binaries and update hubs Under Installed packages tab, add Windows Azure Storage and Wind owsazure.storageclient libraries to the new installed projects 35

36 Upload binaries and update hubs On Set Up tab, setting up working folder, ftp and Azure Storage Account Working folder: the build output folder for HomeOS solution Note: - If the FTP account information is incorr ect, the Modules/Scouts and Platform t abs will not appear. - Similarly, incorrect Azure storage accou nt information will cause the Configs tab not to appear. 36

37 Upload binaries and update hubs Repository Account: To host binaries (modules/scouts and platform) ftp format: ftp://yourserver.com Azure Storage Account Enter the same as the values for DataStoreAccountName and DataStoreAccountKey entries in Settings.xml. 37

38 Upload binaries and update hubs Hubs can be filtered by selecting an Org ID and a Study ID from the dropdowns. The latest actual config files are uploaded to the blob storage by the hub A copy of these config files are also stored in a local desired folder if this folder is empty 38

39 Upload binaries and update hubs Click on Actual button File Explorer to the latest actual config files retrieved from Azure storage by the Update Manager tool Desired button: Point to the desired local folder Modify the files in this folder to change hub settings Press Refresh button to download Actualconfig.zip from Azure storage 39

40 Upload binaries and update hubs Update: If config files in the desired local directory are modified Click Refresh button, Update Manager will list what has changed for each hub. Click Update to upload desiredconfig.zip to blob storage 40

41 Upload binaries and update hubs Modules/Scouts tab manages the binaries for modules and scouts If a module or scout exists under your working directory (\output\binaries\), but it does not yet exist in the repository, it will show version as in On FT P column. 41

43 Upload binaries and update hubs Platform tab displays the FTP and Local versions of the platform binaries. Click Update button to upload local platform to the repository 43

44 Choose Update button -> Yes -> wait for a while so that the tool can upload platform s files to the FTP server -> Choose Refresh Platform is uploaded to the FTP server 44

45 To change version of Platform, modify the HomeOSUpdateVersion key in app.config in Platform project. When adding a new version of the Platform binaries, ALL hubs pointin g to the repository will be updated to use the new binaries. This is different from configuration updates, which only affects hubs t hat are selected for update. 45
