Working with stakeholders and collaborators to create user-centered solutions for problem areas for the library and the medical center. Working to improve processes and Information Science tools to elevate services and improve the user experience. Investigating and researching cutting edge approaches to Information Science. Building unique software solutions using a wide variety of coding languages, libraries, and paradigms. HEAD OF LIBRARY COMPUTING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS, UNIVER- SITY OF OKLAHOMA ROBERT M BIRD HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY OK- LAHOMA CITY, OK 2013-PRESENT Primary responsibilities included: Management and oversight of the Computing Department, including the Non-Print Media subdivision (currently two direct reports), acting as primary on-site web developer and web coder (using HTML, CSS, Javascript, jquery, XML, XSLT, PHP, ColdFusion, MySQL and other technologies as needed), interfacing with vendors of the library s digital systems, oversight of the local network and digital security efforts, oversight of the library s developing digital data management and digitization efforts, overall project manager and data wrangler for the library's migration from Sirsi Symphony to Ex Libris Alma, investigation of technology solutions both upon my own initiative and at the behest of the library Director, and oversight of the maintenance of the library s technology infrastructure. EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES LIBRARIAN, UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY AND INFORMATICS CENTER ALBU- QUERQUE, NM Primary responsibilities included: investigating emerging technologies and novel technological approaches for use in accomplishing the mission of the library;

2 authoring and maintenance of the library s mobile site; changes to and maintenance of the library side of the conventional website; development of web based applications using HTML, CSS, Javascript, jquery, XML and other technologies as needed; development of training materials in the areas of technology and general reference; conducting literature searches, one-on-one consultations, and teaching classes as required; serving as primary Envoy to two Health Science Center departments and secondary Envoy to an additional three departments; lead libguides facilitator, with associated responsibilities which include teaching libguides classes for both library employees and nonlibrary University employees, designing custom libguides solutions, and customizing all aspects of the desktop and mobile libguides interface as needed; general reference and desk duties; tutoring Evidence Based Medicine blocks as needed; partial responsibilities for outreach programs; service on a variety of Medical Library Association, University, and library committees as needed; and supervision of the library and associated facilities on Saturdays. INFORMATION SERVICES LIBRARIAN, UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY AND INFORMATICS CENTER ALBU- QUERQUE, NM Primary responsibilities included: direct supervision of three staff members and indirect supervision of a fourth; scheduling of events in Domenici Center as the backup to the library s normal scheduler; oversight of all aspects of the reference desk, including the setting of procedures and the designing and facilitation of a multi-part training program; assisting in issues of physical security; conducting literature searches, one-on-one consultations, and teaching classes as required; general reference and desk duties; service on a variety of library committees as required; and supervision of the library and associated facilities on Saturdays. DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES, KAPLAN UNIVERSITY CEDAR RAPIDS, IA Primary responsibilities included: managing all aspects of the library of a small, proprietary education school; managing one part-time employee and a rotating staff of work-study students; production of training materials on library resources and information literacy; creation of information literacy curriculum; presentations to classes on library skills and information literacy issues; cataloging; collection development under unpredictable budgetary conditions; advocating for library issues to the local administration and larger corporation; conducting admissions tests; overseeing the transition from the Athena ILS to the Library World ILS including personally conducting the associated record migration; oversight of the library s InterLibrary Loan program; interfacing with local li- Page 2

I am experienced in applying semantic markup to web pages. I am comfortable in the Windows, OSX, ios, Android, and Linux environments. I have significant experience with the Cascade Server, MODX, WordPress and Libguides content management tools, along with some limited Drupal experience. I have some limited experience with Python and Java. I have a proven track record of quickly developing additional knowledge for technology projects as needed. Selected Web Apps Created Native Health Database Search Upgrade- An overhaul of the Native Health Database search code to provide complex boolean searching, improved search logic between discrete search fields, wildcard search, and fuzzy logic search enabled via the Solr search engine. La Puerta Search Tool- This client-side tool functions as an easy to use, "front end" search mechanism for free databases of interest to health care practitioners. The app remembers searches and has a built in, first time, instructional function. Built as part of an initial study, this tool has been rolled out for related projects. Graphical Search Interface- An interactive Venn diagram that acts as the front end for a database search. HSLIC Digital Scavenger Hunt- An interactive scavenger hunt featuring short instructional movies and other animations. Page 3

4 HSLIC Mobile Site Redesign- A complete, user-centered redesign of the HSLIC mobile site. RMB Library Student Employee Who s Who?- A database driven app which allows authorized Robert M Bird employees to add and edit student employee records in a MySQL database. The records contain photos (added via drag and drop and autosized within the app) which can be viewed by all employees as a cover flow gallery. Mobile friendly. Zombie Emergency!- An educational game built entirely from client-side web code, Zombie Emergency! is designed to teach visitors at outreach venues better source authority judgement. A sophisticated app that offers gameplay that "is never the same twice" due to extensive pseudo-random number generation. The app features a smooth, intuitive user interface.
