Dr. Wassil NOWICKY Maragratenstrasse, 7/ Vienna CHARGE: M any articles have appeared in the magazine «Universum» (Lviv, UKRAINE) telling the complicated story of the anti-cancer drug UKRAIN, which is produced on the basis of celandine alkaloids, and about its inventor Dr Wassil Nowicky, an Austrian citizen of Ukrainian origin. In the issues 3-4, March-April 2014 and 5-6, May-June 2014 the article entitled» Anti- Cancer Drug UKRAIN: Who and What?» detailed the events and vicissitudes that have recently happened to Dr. Nowicky, his family and his company «Nowicky Pharma» as well as to his anti-cancer medical preparation UKRAIN. Since then a lot has changed but nevertheless some incredible and mysterious things are still continuing to happen to this medical preparation in Austria and in Ukraine. On 14 November, 2013 in the newspaper «Express» (Lviv, Ukraine) (issue 126) there was an interview with a famous professor, MD, PhD, director of the Institute of Clinical Immunology and Allergology of the National Medical University of Olexandr Bohomolets at * Оригінал статті українською мовою опубліковано в журналі «Універсум», ч Що до Ва шої за яви, ске ро ва ної до Вер - хов ної про ку ра ту ри Відня, отри ма ної Центральною прокуратурою Відня з питань пе рес лі ду вання за вчи нення еко но - міч них зло чи нів та ко руп ції, ми по ві дом - ляє мо Вас про те, що у Цен тральній про - куратурі з питань переслідування за вчинення економічних злочинів та корупції про ти Вас на роз гляді не має жод но го по - переднього розслідування. Kazmirchuk. In the printed text of the above-mentioned interview Professor Kazmirchuk strongly denies the efficacy of UKRAIN, stating that, «People have been killed with UKRAIN», that «It is worthless», that «There was not one trial conducted with it and it was out of the question! Drug testing is not easy and especially on children! This is ridiculous!» And further: «And I personally did not believe in UKRAIN at all.» The more the merrier. On page 9 of the same issue of the «Express» newspaper Prof. Vira Y. AGAINST: In reply to your statement, received by the Supreme public prosecutor s office of Vien - na, received by Central Public Prosecutor s Office for Combatting Economic Crime and Corruption (Zentrale Staatsanwaltschaft zur Verfolgung von Wirtschaftsstrafsachen und Korruption) (WKStA) on 18 th September 2014, we would like to inform you that at the Central Public Prosecutor s Office for Combatting Economic Crime and Corrup - tion there is no preliminary investigation against you. With reference to the Charge numbered 15 Hv 6/ 13d at the Court of first instance. Central Public Prosecutor s Office for Combatting Economic Crime and Corruption (Zentrale Staatsanwaltschaft zur Verfolgung von Wirtschaftsstraf - sachen und Korruption) (WKStA) Department 19 Vienna, 18 th September 2014 Dr. Andrea Martini, Prosecutor Kazmirchuk allegedly says, «UKRAIN does not help to kill cancer, quite the contrary. (...) I have never lied in my life and I have never complimented UKRAIN.» The published statements might be perceived as a true witness account: a famous scientist, professor, Ph.D., author of many books, monographs and numerous research papers gave a professional interview and perhaps the readers can trust the words of a specialist. A few days after publication of this interview Professor Vira Y. Kazmirchuk 9-10, 2014 УНІВЕРСУМ 63

2 appealed against it and officially declared that she did not hold such a conversation with the correspondent of the newspaper «Express» Svitlana Martynets. «On Wednesday (author s note: 13 November 2013), Svitlana Martynets sent me the text of the interview and after I re-read it I was horrified the words were just taken out of context and the whole information was completely distorted. I immediately sent her a letter of response (text attached) in which I explained that this article vilified my name and the journalist had no moral or legal right to write in that way. Moreover, I would like to note that the article published in the newspaper «Express» as an interview with me is not true and I ll sue for posting false information.» And further: «After consulting with my department colleagues at the university I started to research this drug in vitro. We determined the effect of UKRAIN on blood elements in various dilutions first on blood elements of institute staff and then we investigated the effect of the drug in vitro on children s blood, exploring the immune status of children. From experience I can say that every drug works on people differently. During the research it was found that UKRAIN also works differently in the human body. But the most important fact is that in no case was a toxic effect on the organism found. It was confirmed that using this medication does not cause any sideeffects on blood cells. No complications were observed in any of the clinical cases. (...) Having developed the scheme of treatment with UKRAIN for the ill children we monitored its action every week. Having obtained only positive results, assistants used the remaining portion of the UKRAIN ampoule to treat their own ailments and watched the real effect of this drug. Since this false article was published in the newspaper «Express» on 14 November, I now want to raise all the case reports of those children and people whom this drug really helped. And I really have many facts that confirm that everything written there is an outright lie and a manipulation of information. I would like to mention that we were too picky about UKRAIN but I have also to say, vouching for this with my conscience and honour, that this drug, which was given to Ukraine free of charge by Dr. Wassil Nowicky, is absolutely worthy of the name UKRAIN, is really produced of celandine and during its use did not cause any side-effects.» (The full text of the interview with Professor Vira Y. Kazmirchuk conducted by the journalist Angelina Palamar can be found online at: ( kazmirchuk_moie_intervyu_ekspresu t se_falshyvka_ html) We publish 64 some excerpts from the conclusions of the article of Prof. Vira Kazmirchuk written in collaboration with N. Gumeniuk entitled «Clinical effects of the drug UKRAIN in children with recurrent respiratory diseases» (medical journal «Medical Preparations of the XXI Century», 4, 2003): «(...) Clinical observations to the best advantage demonstrate the normalizing effect on the immune system as well as the health-improving effect of UKRAIN in children with recurrent inflammatory processes in the bronchopulmonary system. (...) The medical preparation UKRAIN has an anti-inflammatory effect, causing positive changes in children with recurrent bronchopulmonary diseases with purulent bronhoreya as well as with bronchoobstructive syndrome. The cough decreased, pyorrhea from the bronchial tubes and asthma disappeared. (...) The results of immunological studies of patients (...) confirmed the immuno modulationg effect of UKRAIN.» Here are some results and conclusions from the other article (during this study 40 children with immunodeficiency diseases were consulted and examined) by Prof. Vira Y. Kaz - mirchuk devoted to UKRAIN and written in collaboration with N. Humeniuk, M. Miroshnikova, D. Pla khotna, entitled «Clinical and immunological efficacy of UKRAIN in cases of children with recurrent bronchopulmonary diseases» («Liky Ukrainy» («Medical Preparations of Ukraine»), 10, p ): «Use of the preparation UKRAIN for the immunorehabilitation of children with recurrent bronchopulmonary diseases led to an apparent positive clinical effect. (...) A significant improvement of the function of external respiration by increasing the forced vital capacity of lungs as well as by increasing the volume of the forced expiration was observed. (...) On the basis of (...) reliable studies data was obtained on the normalising effect of UKRAIN on the function of respiratory and immune systems in children.» A rhetorical question arises: who wants then to destroy the medical preparation UKRAIN? In our opinion, speaking about the treatment of children with cancer as well as about the incredibly positive impact of UKRAIN on their treatment, the results of the study conducted by Dr. Burkhard Ashhoff from Germany should be mentioned and detailed here. ( docs/aschoff_2000.pdf) The point is that for 2.5 years at the Villa Medica Clinic in Edenkoben (Germany), from August 1997 to December 1999, 203 cancer patients suffering from different types of cancer were treated who had already exhausted all kinds of conventional therapy and for whom, due to regression and/or progress of the disease, no further forms of treatment were available. Therapy was started with the alkaloid derivatives from Chelidonium Majus L. (UKRAIN). This treatment was conducted in accordance with 73 Abs. 3 AMG of Germany. The 203 patients had an average age of 46.3 years (22 months to 74 years). Results of UKRAIN treatment of those patients were as follows: 41 (20.2%) achieved full remission, 122 (60.1%) partial remission and only 40 (19.7%) did not respond to treatment. Full remission was achieved in three out of four patients with seminoma and in 14 out of 20 patients with prostate cancer. Exceptio - nally high percentages of full remission were also achieved with neuroblastoma (60%), Ewing s sarcoma (57.1%) and astrocytoma (33.3%). (It should be noted here that neuroblastoma occurs only in children and is among the extremely dangerous malignant tumours and Ewing s sarcoma is second in the occurrence rate of malignant bone tumours in young cancer patients and grows progressively worse very quickly). Among those 203 patients there were 14 children below the age of 16 (8 girls and 6 boys). Comparing the results of achievement of full remission, partial remission as well as the cases when the patients did not respond to UKRAIN treatment in percentage ratio it is evident that the best reaction to UKRAIN treatment was precisely among the cases of young patients: among adults there was a complete remission in 20.2% of cases, it was possible to achieve a partial remission in 60.1% of cases and for 19.7% of patients there was no influence. At the same time the results with children were as follows: complete remission 62.5%, partial remission 31.25% and no influence 6.25%. The general conclusion and resumé to the treatment were as follows: «The greatest changes occurred in patients whose immune systems were most damaged. As immune levels returned within the normal range the influence of UKRAIN was reduced, leading to the conclusion that the drug is an immunocorrector. ( ) Patients who responded to UKRAIN therapy showed an improvement in their general condition, with reduced pain, increased appetite, increased vitality, a more positive attitude and normalisation of sleep patterns. In cases of bone metastases ( ) in combination with hyperthermia UKRA IN exerted a strong influence.» (Read more about the potential and impact of UKRAIN on children with various cancer types together with medical histories of these young patients in previous issues of «Universum» 3-4, March-April 2014 and 5-6, May- June 2014 in the article «Anti-Cancer УНІВЕРСУМ 9-10, 2014

In answer to this gift Dr. Nowicky was even accused of trying to «conduct experiments on children». What «experiments» can we talk about if UKRAIN was successfully registered in Ukraine in 1998 for the first time? It seems that someone really does not want to disseminate information on positive treatment with UKRAIN. Per - haps especially because of the extremely successful treatment with UKRAIN of children with cancer diseases some people are trying to «discredit» this medical preparation both in Ukraine and in Austria as well as to prevent the use of this medicine? In 2011 the registration of UKRAIN in Ukraine was illegally suspended. But after numerous inspections and lawsuits by Dr. Nowicky the registration of his medical preparation in Ukraine was reinstated. It happened according to Order 2a-6275/12/2670 of the Circuit Admi - nistrative Court of Kiev from 2 April 2014, quote: 1. To satisfy the administrative claim of the company Nowicky Pharma. 2. After all, as a result, patients did not receive the necessary and desired treatment that could save their lives or at least improve their health. Not less interesting events continue occurring in Austria too. With the Decision from 20 September 2013 (number /1-II/BK/ ) the Public Prosecutor s Office has partially terminated investigative proceedings against the Dr. Wassil Nowicky. Proceedings have thus been partially terminated but all the charges with UKRAIN ampoules confiscated both on 11 Novem - ber 2011 and 04 September 2012 (a total of more than 205,000 (!) UKRAIN am pou les) have not so far been returned to the owner. Meanwhile, except the «overestimated price» of 77 per UKRAIN ampoule Dr. Nowicky and his company Nowicky Pharma are now accused of committing a new «crime» tax evasion although from 1993 to 2013 Dr. Nowicky paid the Republic of Austria tax to the amount of 513, The estimated price of 77 per ampoule is made up of expenditure for the patent s prolongation, for the payment of wages, for the filling of ampoules according to Good Medical Practice and for conducting analysis of the product according to Good Laboratory Practice. It also includes the costs of participation in scientific congresses and conferences and numerous costs for long-term research studies, experiments etc. However, these facts were and still are not taken into account. The witness testimonies of patients about the cost of the drug are also not taken into account for some unaccountable reason. To plan how to proceed especially whether with the beginning of the tax audit further anticipated witness statements should be awaited please get in touch by telephone. If you have any questions the official dealing with the case would be pleased to help. For the board: Mag. Ungerböck (signature) means, that in many cases patients received UKRAIN either for free or bought it at a bedrock price at cost price (and sometimes even cheaper), although as owner of the patent and like every drug manufacturer Dr. Nowicky has the right to make a profit. Moreover, Dr. Nowicky is accused of tax evasion. It is quiet strange because since UKRAIN is still not registered in Austria according to Austrian law the production of UKRAIN is considered to be a «hobby» («Liebhaberei» in German), and therefore is not subject to tax. Then a logical question arises: why do those responsible for the registration of drugs not have any questions for the manufacturers of chemotherapy drugs (cytostatica) intended to fight against various types of cancer diseases although the costs for such medical preparations are astronomical and their effectiveness is disputable and questionable? For example, one course of cancer treatment with УНІВЕРСУМ 9-10, 2014

5 the drug Avastin costs 70,000 and with its help the average prolongation of life is 2 months; one course of treatment with the drug Erbitux intended for fighting colon cancer costs 50,000 with the possibility to prolong the average life time for 1.2 months. (Profil, magazine, issue 6-8, February 2010) For a year of treatment with Yondelis (Spain) for the treatment of ovarian cancer patients should spend 88,000 and the treatment of follicular lymphoma with the Swiss drug MabThera would cost almost 135,000 (magazine Der Spiegel, issue 20/2010) It seems that there are no complaints to the giant pharmaceutical corporations, although 77 per UKRAIN ampoule is too expensive! And it is despite the fact that, depending on the type and stage of cancer, treatment with UKRAIN will need from 40 to 100 ampoules (the arithmetic is simple 7,700 even for 100 vials is not 135,000!). Besides, numerous studies and successful cases of treatment of patients have proved that with UKRAIN life can be prolonged not only for one year but for a much longer time. (More details about the medical histories of cancer patients successfully treated with UKRAIN can be found in the following issues of the magazine «Uni - versum»: 5-6, 2012; 7-8, 2012; 3-4, 2013; 3-4, 2014 and 5-6, 2014). The story of UKRAIN is very similar to the histories of other alternative methods of cancer treatment. For example, someone is trying to prevent further experiments on the anticancer drug Dichloroacetate (DCA). Information about this substance was first reported in However, it seems that the pharmaceutical industry is not interested in conducting research studies and experiments on this drug. In January 2007 a group of researchers from the University of Alberta (Canada) under the guidance of Evangelis Mihelakis successfully tested DCA on isolated human tumour cells in vitro and in mice with cancer. It was confirmed that this medical preparation is able to slow down the growth of cancer cells in the lungs, brain and breast. In addition, it was also found that in rats, who received DCA in drinking water, tumours grew much more slowly than in those animals who drank water without it. The disadvantage of DCA is its sideeffects, which, however, occur infrequently. The worst of them are a feeling of numbness in the body and gait disorder. ( treatmentsandsideeffects/complementaryandalternativemedicine/pharmacologicalandbiologicaltreatment/dichloroac etate--dca-) According to the authors of the article of the German online magazine Kopp Online of 15 February 2012, with the help of DCA the pharmaceutical industry, which is trying to fight cancer, could obtain a new method of cancer treatment that is much cheaper and safer than other modern conventional cancer therapies. ( beweis-krebsindustrie-will-keineheilung-nicht-einmal-durchmedikamente.html ) It can be assumed that the medical and pharmaceutical mafia is intentionally creating the conditions and framework for a rapid absorption of millions and billions granted for research into anti-cancer drugs and for cancer treatment. No one is interested in the treatment of dying patients. The cancer industry only soils the reputations of alternative medical preparations for cancer treatment, calling them ineffective and harmful, and their inventors and manufacturers are portrayed as liars in the public s eye, willing to earn insane amounts from desperate patients who are looking for any chance to save their lives, clutching at anything that gives at least some hope. Meanwhile, the producers of chemotherapeutic medical preparations try to convince patients of the effectiveness of their wares and agitate strongly for their use in treatment. «Chance to Li - ve!» is the slogan of Taxotere. Or: «Taxol give your life the future.» Patients hear the same words from some oncologists, who support and defend the pharmaceutical concerns. Thus, the oncologist Frederik Overkamp says that in the past 20 years chemotherapy has become advanced and improved and a «significant prolongation of life» can be seen. However, such a «positive» opinion is not shared by all doctors and recent research results and figures prove the opposite: as of today, patients die as often as 25 years ago. Epidemiologist of the Grosshadern Clinic at the University of Munich (Germany) states: «I am afraid that the systematic expansion of the use of chemotherapeutic agents in breast cancer may be responsible for the decrease in percent survival of patients.» Gerhard Schaller, gynaecologist at the University Bochum (Germany) says almost the same: «For the survival of women with advanced breast cancer chemotherapy has not brought any benefit much ado about nothing.» Wolfram Jaeger, head of the gynaecology department of the City Clinic Dusseldorf (Germany) goes even further: «There was and there is no progress in treatment with chemotherapy. A lot of women are treated, but in fact it has not been possible to establish any benefit from such treatment. However, if you tell it to patients they will lose their last hope». (Magazine Der Spiegel, 41/2004) An early diagnosis of cancer is equally important for successful treatment. The above-mentioned gynaecologist Wolfram SCIENCE Jaeger calls for more money for early diagnosis of cancer rather than uselessly spending millions on expensive chemo - therapy. (Magazine Der Spiegel, 41/2004) In this context, in our opinion, it is worth mentioning the unique ability of UKRAIN to recognise cancerous tumours under ultraviolet light, as well as the fact that most patients who use UKRAIN subjectively feel some tingling and heat in the tumour area as well as in the area of metastases. It can also be observed the urine of cancer patients who use UKRAIN takes on a specific odour and its colour changes. This leads us to suggest that UKRAIN enters into a biochemical reaction with some elements of cancer cells and if it were possible to isolate this product or compound it could give us as a completely new method for early cancer diagnosis. However, the government does not seem to be interested in it and is not going to provide money for the necessary research studies in this branch of medicine. Unfortunately, nowadays the stories of too many inventors of alternative types of treatment can be compared with the «Semmelweis syndrome». The Hunga - rian physician, obstetrician and surgeon Professor Ignaz Philipp Semmel weis, who lived and worked in Vienna, was trying to understand the causes of postpartum fever (sepsis) in many parturient women as well as the causes of their mortality due to it. Then he advanced a hypothesis that infection could be brought by doctors from infectious and pathologicoanatomic hospital departments. It meant that after autopsy they often came to assist in childbirth, having wiped their hands only with handkerchiefs. Semmelweis ordered the hospital staff to disinfect hands their with a chloride solution before touching pregnant women. Thus, the mortality among women and children decreased from 18 to 2.5%. However, this hypothesis of Semmelweis did not meet with rapid recognition but encountered many barriers on its way and even caused a flurry of criticism from his colleagues. A director of the clinic, Dr. Klein, even prohibited Professor Semelweis from publishing his statistics on reduced mortality after sterilising the hands and kicked him out of the clinic. He then financed the training of other doctors himself to teach them his method and in 1861 published a separate work «Aetiology, nature and prevention of postpartum fever» (in German «Die Aetiologie, deer Begriff und die Pro - phylaxis des Kindbettfiebers»). Apropos, Semmelweis s idea met with such a huge wave of rejection that even the death of a German doctor Gustav Michaelis did not change the mind of the medical profession Doctor Michaelis made fun of Semmelweis but nevertheless decided to 9-10, 2014 УНІВЕРСУМ 67

6 test his hypothesis in practice. After mortality among his patients decreased the staggered Michaelis could not stand such humiliation and committed suicide. The story of Professor Semmelweis also ended very tragically: scared and intimidated he died in a mental hospital at the age of only 47. ( science/sciencediscussions/ effekt-zemmelveysa-ili-anatomiyaegoizma.html, t82-topic) That is the story of the appearance of the «Semmelweis syndrome» an automatic rejection of scientific information that contradicts the norm, belief or paradigm without checking or experiment. Holding on to the usual postulates scientists try to destroy any attempts at their review. Unfortunately, this «effect-syndrome» often happens nowadays too. ( Another story (of our times) is the case of an Italian scientist, Dr. Tulio Simonchini, who became a pioneer of cancer treatment with soda. He was not afraid to anger his colleagues and discovered an effective prescription for cancer treatment. For that he was jailed for three years on a false charge. Simonchini actively practiced cancer treatment with soda at advanced stages of cancer diseases and the results were stunning. He substantiated his theory as follows: in his view, cancer cells are nothing other than Candida fungus, that grows as a result of a weakened immune system. Chemo - therapy weakens the body even more, so that the immune system is at zero level after it. This explains the dying people who have been treated but not cured. A simple and effective remedy proved to be sodium bicarbonate (common baking soda). This is the active ingredient that kills the Candida fungus. Patients either drank solution or the doctor used a kind of device like an endoscope, invented by himself, for administering soda directly into the tumour. For this Tulio Simon - chini was deprived of his license to practice. He was accused of using unregistered drugs as well as of exposing the lives of patients to danger. He was then imprisoned for three years. ( Harassment, threats, attempted murder, arrest... Is that not the same as has been happening for almost 40 years with Dr. Wassil Nowicky and with his fantastically effective and safe drug from celandine called UKRAIN, which has no side-effects? Why is this happening? Alternative medical preparations look more and more like «orphans» who noone wants anything to do with and who are just left to the mercy of fate. Studies and experiments could be conducted with all of them, highlighting some of the billion means annually allocated for research of chemotherapeutic agents. Finally, I want to ask another question: if UKRAIN is such an «ineffective» and «bad» drug, as many staff of the Ministries of Health of Ukraine and Austria are still trying to convince us, why have they been struggling so zealously against it for so many years? The logical conclusion is: if the drug had not helped so many patients with cancer, it would have been forgotten many, many years ago. The reasons being unknown, but no one wants to carry on a struggle against the chemotherapeutic medical preparations and against their producers. In this case, nobody wants to speak of the terrible and dangerous side-effects they cause. After all, scientists have repeatedly stated that treatment with chemotherapeutic drugs «kills» the already weakened patients, and if they do not die from them now, in the future one way or another patients will suffer various associated illnesses induced by these dangerous drugs that sooner or later destroy them. Harassment, threats, attempted murder, the arrest of Dr. Nowicky etc. lead to the idea that the preparation UKRAIN is very effective, but someone is persistently trying to destroy it. Some people do not care that millions of cancer patients continue to die although their lives could be saved. Viktoria O. ROMANCHUK, Special for the magazine «UIVERSUM» (Lviv, UKRAINE) IN THE NAME OF THE REPUBLIC The article entitled «The Case of «Doctor Cancer»: The head of investigation does not believe a word of the «miracle healer», published on 12 September 2012, p. 10, as well as the statements that Dr. Wassil Nowicky is a fraud and liar, violated the presumption of innocence of complainant Dr. Wassil Nowicky. The opponent the publishing house Krone-Verlag GmbH & Co KG as a media owner was obliged to pay financial damages and publish the court decision. The court of first instance in criminal cases, Vienna, Abt. 95 Hv, 31 October 2013» (newspaper Kurier, 24 July 2014, p. 12). 68 УНІВЕРСУМ 9-10, 2014
