1 South Bethany Comprehensive Plan Community Questionnaire 2011 List of Property Owners Written Comments For: Mediacom TV In this survey, responders were asked to provide written comments if they marked 2 or 3 ("Very Unsatisfied" or "Unsatisfied"). Although quite often positive comments and suggestions were provided, most of the written comments tended to be negative. Comments Mediacom TV: TOTAL: 230 Comments/860 Returns (26.7%) After each completed survey was returned to the Town, each completed survey was given a number for record keeping purposes. The number before each comment represents that number Uneven picture quality, very expensive 338- Mediacom customer service is 2 nd rate. If you call to find out if they re carrying a specific sports event/game they say they don t know Mediacom is too expensive, no choices Mediacom cannot provide DC area stations 335- Service options should include reasonably priced part-time options for seasonal rentals; Present fee structure is prohibitive Because Mediacom has a monopoly in this area, they run things to suit themselves and not their patrons. They keep changing what is available and seem to continually drop or add stations they want, probably because it makes them more money. There is definitely an overabundance of sports programs on all of the mediums of reception The cost of MC vs. the cost of Comcast which has twice as many channels for less cost No competition, prices high Don t use it Terrible basic TV service Lousy How about competition? - 1 -

2 305- Very poor Internet. Too many phone interruptions; poor television quality; WAY Over- Priced; FIOS by Verizon is a much better option Expensive Mediacom is too expensive! 291- Expensive-little consideration for seasonal use-monopoly creates arrogance in service, billing, etc. Dishonest in honoring agreement of cost for service Too expensive for Internet TV Service is not good and consistent Mediacom is a rip off price wise Very difficult to communicate by telephone with the company. Requiring billing problemseven difficult to find location and hours-on the only one visit to this office-office understaffed, 2 lines of customers coming out the door-had to leave without being served Limited choices and technology from Mediacom Mediacom has poor channel selection and priced too high! 260- Mediacom service is horrible! They are very slow to respond and when they come it s not fixed. I am very dissatisfied with them. Their programming is lousy We have had trouble with Mediacom. We had to switch to satellite. Trouble includes pricing packages and the fact that they promised a package of TV & Internet and couldn t deliver the Internet. So we switched to satellite for TV and to through Verizon for Internet. 258A- My complaint is with the head office services. One gets a different story or price for service offer each time one calls. Contractors are used for service and often not well-trained. 256A- I got rid of Mediacom and went with Direct TV Mediacom uses substandard, older equipment which constantly needs repair and slow service and outages are common for the Internet. TV reception often not great either Do not like Mediacom. Can t we get Verizon Fios?? 243- Mediacom does not provide Philadelphia sports. Would greatly prefer Comcast Need choice Verizon?? 232- Mediacom is near last place in Consumer Reports. Not enough stations on standard service; outages are too frequent Mediacom is too expensive for services rendered and unreliable. 16- Poor service; high price. 17- Mediacom service is bad. 22- The cost of Mediacom basic service is outrageous for the product provided. There should be more options and a more basic plan. 24- Not enough Philadelphia channels. 25- Service is intermittent on a regular basis which is unacceptable. 26-Need more digital/high definition options. 30- Mediacom is expensive and does not carry channels of interest to us from DC (WETA)

3 36- Very difficult to get them out they will not enter house if we are not there. That is completely unsatisfactory for us as this is not our principal residence. 37- I find Mediacom technical quality average, channel selection tolerable and pricing continues to increase. 45- Mediacom is completely unreliable and this is unacceptable when there are other vendors who can and would welcome providing these services to our community. 53- Don t like choice of service. We should be able to choose Comcast or some other..monopoly. 54- Bad experience every year. DIFFICULT to contact. No summer program without penalties. Poor scheduling programs if you require maintenance. Some services don t work, i.e. phone. 56- Town needs alternative Mediacom monopoly. 57- Mediacom continues to be sporadic on their volume control (commercial s always louder) and PBS channels are always low in volume compared to others. 58- Mediacom service is spotty and signals need adjusting for sound and picture size. 59- Poor billing practices. 63- Channels have different volume levels Mediacom is the only option and I would prefer to have an optional provider Mediacom reception is poor but has improved. When you call you don t get the local office to schedule service. Internet service call is separate from TV Cable Service request Too many interruptions in service!!! 352- Need choice for cable TV AT&T, FIOS, etc Too many outages, not a very good selection of channels, service very poor when I call Mediacom stinks! Their customer service is terrible Should open market to others such as Comcast Sound levels too inconsistent. Also when calling in trouble reports, phone answering system is too cumbersome Switched to Direct TV a few months ago. Less expensive, more reliable and more channels. So far, I m very glad we switched Terrible programming options Basically good adding MASN 2 is good, would like to be able to see Redskins games in on CBS Poor channel selections too expensive for basic and poor response to service calls Mediacom is below average service. Goes out a lot, not a good choice compared to Comcast. 64- No menu or guide on TV unless you pay for premium service. 66- SAT dish. 68- I dropped Mediacom for poor service and cost. I now have Direct TV but would prefer Verizon FIOS. We need choices and service provider competition

4 69- They will continue to be mediocre as long as they re the only game in town!!! 70- Mediacom is expensive. 71- Goes off too often. Not reliable Internet and telephone and sometimes TV. 72- Mediacom is not very cooperative. They are too expensive. They do not provide seasonal service. 75- Over-priced and poor service. 78- Mediacom is horrible just switched to Direct TV with is tons better! 80- Mediacom service SUCKS! We should have freedom of choice! 81- Lousy service use Direct TV. 87- Need TV menu or guide for Basic. 90- Mediacom lineup of channels not clear with impact of change of services and fees. No local contact number. 91- Too expensive and service is erratic. 94- The reliability of service is poor unexpected interruptions. Difficult and confusing customer service. 99- Too expensive and poor service Very expensive Way too expensive for what you get and not very responsive Service is awful too many outages Monopoly Overpriced for service Cost of cable and type of service Service sucks too many outages no reason There are many breakdowns with our TV reception/incompetent service too often. 42- I have a BIG problem you have to call me on this one. Name Provided. 50- Poor phone communication for service when cable goes down and rates are too high for basic cable which offers very little We do not get Philadelphia sports Cost outrageous for service provided. Frequent outages Mediacom is a pure monopoly. Their costs are outrageous for season owners. They have no competition and no one exercising any control over their monopoly. Their service is poor and their technology is outdated Mediacom sometimes looses picture The cable network is too expensive Very rude and unreliable service from personnel Service is not very good! 162- Unhappy with lack of guide on TV; expensive; too few channels. 166-Mediacom needs to be terminated

Worst customer service Very overpriced especially off season and available channels Selection is lacking compared with Comcast. The only time you find out what their specials are if you visit the office in Dagsboro. You can no longer contact Mediacom locally. If you call you get someone in another part of the country. Wish we had a choice of other providers Expensive, unreliable and poor channel selections available Frequent outages and service is VERY poor I think Mediacom is charging way too much for services and not giving good services when needed Mediacom is vastly inferior compared to both Comcast and Verizon Would like to see Comcast if no more expensive Expensive and their customer service is terrible

Mediacom has always allowed service to be disconnected without charge and allowed for seasonal use. Technical service good though Does not provide channels from the area with which we are concerned, i.e. Philadelphia news and sports Service is unreliable especially Internet and phone. i.e. today is March 24 th 8:30 am and we ve had no dial tone since noon yesterday. HD service is limited stations and subject to tiling (loosing signal). There is not enough room here to write of all the problems. If the town has a contract with Mediacom, DO NOT RENEW Horrible! 463- Mediacom stinks! 464- Mediacom has monopoly. We need a competitor like Comcast Expensive, bad customer service lousy programming Outrageously expensive for the pathetic channels we receive Overpriced The worst and not many HD channels Get rid of Mediacom! Stone age operation: too long to respond to phone; terrible controls for TV; too many shutdowns of Internet; get rid of them We have little interest in Baltimore and DC news. We want Philadelphia programming! How about CSN-Phila. for Phillies games? Who wants to see the Orioles or Nationals? Why do surrounding beach towns have Comcast-Phila? While we are stuck with Mediacom. DE gets Phila. not Maryland we are in Delaware

For my usage, TV only-another telecommunications company should be servicing our area. Entirely out of reason cost wise What can I say it s the worst. Ever try watching a sporting or news event. You can t see the box scores or the crawlers at the bottom of the screen. Volume is all over the place and when you change the channels. Enough about them, you use them; you know how bad they are Service is unreliable Cost of service and difficulty of scheduling service for problems. I have been waiting for a replacement remote for the HDTV. They said they ran out. I had the same problem last year with the HD box. Typical service for a company who has the advantage of being the only game in town Goes on and off whenever- even in good weather Should be checked as to their prices as they seem to be going up Service is exceptional; costs ignore absentee owners who need only basic service for 8 months or less Prices are too high. 546-Just received a bill for 50% more, from after a special was over. I can see a 10 or 15% increase but not 50%!! 552- Forced to sign a 1 year contract Unreliable and provided poor support. We switched to Direct TV which has proved to be far superior. 555-Need more Philadelphia sports coverage Mediacom is good; seek further competition with Verizon Fios Quoted a price and then refused to honor it; so I went with Direct TV Not as many options as Comcast (programming poor). People in home office nice but equipment is not always available. Internet OK Explore what Verizon, Comcast have to offer Service is out 3-4 days per month some stations never work Much too expensive for the service received. Would some competition help lower cost? - 7 -

8 598- Problems with cable service Quick to turn off, slow to turn on. Not very responsive to questions/complaints. Programming not so good. Would prefer Direct TV but there are trees in the way in certain areas Cost is extremely high for amount of service. We need to bring in competition to keep pricing down i.e. FIOS Worst cable TV service we have ever encountered. The reception and picture are horrible. For service they are usually on time, that is why I did not circle Poor channel selection need COMCAST (sportsheet) 632- Not top quality in signal delivery Horrible and expensive you need a second cable TV option Too expensive! 647- We have had various disagreements with Mediacom over the years that take a long time for a call back or resolution to a problem Monopolies breed overcharging and indifferent service Need to replace Mediacom with another company Overpriced and service and quality poor Has very few choices on basic and they have no plan if you are there 6 months and away 6 months Service is so-so, office too far away, too few channels Overpriced for what you get HORRIBLE to deal with Frustrating Now requires a year sign up with no seasonal rates. Was and still is hard to talk to for help without a long wait We dislike monopolies and experience service interruptions on TV and Internet Don t think we should have to have cable if only want basic channels Numerous issues with Internet service (loss of signal) Mediacom is unresponsive and too expensive. Improving but too expensive based on service Too expensive!! 725- Too expensive We need Vios to drive down cost Competition needed Techs OK but administrative office in Dagsboro is terrible Too hard to reach. They do not provide reduced seasonal rentals until pushed and even then, only reduce as of the date of the push We switched from Mediacom one year ago because of poor reception and power outage

Would appreciate a 2 nd cable option Recommend you replace with Verizon Fios or allow competition rather than sole provider If possible, Mediacom needs to be replaced with Comcast. Mediacom has frequent outages (Internet), inferior cable TV channel selections, and poor public service. It also costs more than Comcast (which we have in Florida) I think the cost of the cable is high for the channels that are available Monopolistic and expensive Very expensive! Being from Wilmington, we can t get the Phillies baseball games. We have to watch the Nationals or Orioles A poor excuse for a choice. Compared to other companies the HD choices are pitiful. Numerous channels in a package are not even watched. People should have a choice in what channels they want to pay for Operating on technology that is 10 years old. No HDMI Bill almost impossible to decipher.
