2 What Impacts Sustainable Agriculture & Biodiversity? Climate change is a major threat to bio-diversity. Modern industrial agriculture can have extremely negative impacts on biodiversity. Often a crop is genetically engineered to withstand high-levels of herbicides or other poisons that are designed to kill weeds or animal pests. Unfortunately, the pesticides routinely applied to these crops also kill many other plants and animals, including many non-target species. Thus negatively impacting biodiversity & human health.
3 Sustaining Agriculture & Bio-diversity Worldwide, there is a resurgence of interest in more traditional forms of agriculture that incorporate the wealth of knowledge of sustainable, life-friendly, agricultural practices that have accumulated over the hundreds of years of human development. However, agricultural practice in Nigeria still relies on traditional methods which make use of a lot of human capital. While we as a nation are incorporating modernized agricultural methodologies, we need to ensure that the present human capital on the various farmlands of Nigeria are kept healthy.

8 PharmAccess Foundation Nigeria Was established in In partnership with the Kwara State Government established a Health Insurance Scheme for the Farmers in Shonga in This scheme has transformed to a state wide community based health insurance program for rural dwellers with over 60,000 lives having access to care.
9 SafeCare In Nigeria ü The SafeCare standards have been used to assess over 80 facilities. ü Presently a total of 53 facilities have adopted the SafeCare methodology as their QI strategy. ü SafeCare has signed an MoU with the NPHCDA to help achieve the objectives of the National Quality Initiative. ü We have concluded talks with the Ogun State government on institutionalizing Quality Standards state-wide.
