Your Mission:

2 Water, Sanitation and Environmental Health in the context of the Tat Lan programme is more than clean water and basic latrines for selected families. The programme is targeting to improve the village living environment by improving waste management, food safety, and indoor air quality (reducing smoke of cooking fires/eco-fuel stoves) by raising awareness on these factors and the potential solutions that address and reduce these threats. Because of the approach and scope of the activities, the WASH activities will link with the Nutrition component, Agriculture component and Infrastructure component of the Tat Lan programme. The position is based in Sittwe with monthly travel to Myebon and the project villages. Your Job Scope includes but not limited to: Reporting and supervision This position reports to the Project Director who is also based in Sittwe. The Senior WATSAN Manager will provide the Project Director with monthly updates on implementation progress against the Tat Lan Workplan. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The WASH manager is responsible for: Engineering and technical Providing technical support and quality management of all WATSAN activities within the IRC-Tat Lan programme area. Providing full oversight to the IRC WATSAN Manager in Myebon Make sure that all WATSAN activities under Tat Lan 2 are implemented according to the national & International standards. Training Support the provision of training and/or directly provide training to all WATSAN and Hygiene Promotion staff in Myebon (among others): Support the development of the design of low-cost household and school latrines with strong community participation; Construction low-cost household and school latrines The renovation and cleaning of wells, water ponds and possibly spring catchments; The construction of bio-sand filters introducing skills transfer participatory approach in communities with specific IECs (Environmental) hygiene promotion including community sanitation clubs and school sanitation clubs. Implementation of Community Health Club approach activities in target villages. Provide comprehensive technical training for WASH field staff to promote their professional development.

3 Project and component management Assist with the development of Annual and Monthly Work plans according to in-line with logframe. Report on monthly progress against the work plan and submit monthly progress report to the WASH Coordinator Report expenditures against procurement plan. Ensure all procurement and logistical support of the WASH programme is efficiently managed according to the agreed timetable. Support Performance Evaluation of staff at regular Intervals. Where necessary participate in the recruitment of new members of the project team. Contribute to the preparation of monthly reports where necessary. Budget Responsibilities Responsible for managing an annual budget of around USD 350 thousand. Tracking expenditures against the annual budget Developing a procurement plan and tracking all procurement against the plan and the project implementation plan. Coordination, information sharing, monitoring and report writing General Coordinate with relevant other WASH actors and sector field staff in state level, not only at organisation level but also in related other organization/ government departments. Monitor the progress of field activities in the sites, ensuring that project data is collected on time and according to standards. Through the project coordination meetings keeping the Project Director informed on the progress and constraints of the WATSAN activities. Support the coordination of all IRC-Tat Lan WATSAN activities in Myebon and Minbya with the Nutrition component, Agriculture component and Infrastructure component of the Tat Lan programme. Coordinate with Township and State government agencies as needed and/or requested by the Project Director. Provide appropriate and timely feedback regarding staff annual performance objectives and assist them in objective setting. Strengthen knowledge and skill of project staffs. Assist in the recruitment of staff. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Director as appropriate. Working Environment: Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites Education

4 Master s degree in civil engineering, or a Bachelor s degree with two additional years of experience; public health degree is a plus. Experiences At least three years of professional experience managing water and sanitation programs, some of which with International NGOs. Experience in implementing the CLTS,CHC,PHAST approach Experience in designing and maintaining data collection and monitoring systems. Ability and willingness to work and travel in remote areas. Competencies Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Good communication skills, in particular listening skills Proven staff management and team building skills Capable of training staff and motivating community support. Ability to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging, politically sensitive and fast-paced environment. Experience in English report writing. Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software and basic GPS mapping; internet, AutoCAD design a plus. Computer skills in Microsoft Office; Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing professional environment. Good understanding of humanitarian principles of humanity and neutrality. Demonstrating trustworthiness and upholding the highest ethical standards. Language. Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.
