4 ACADEMICS Dallas Baptist University offers 68 undergraduate majors as well as 22 master s programs, including over 40 dual master s degree programs, two doctoral degree programs, and 19 accelerated bachelor s and master s degree programs. All classes are taught in a close, intimate class setting. DBU also offers an Intensive English Program that prepares students for university level education in the U.S. DBU is a liberal arts university in which students complete a core set of courses designed to expose them to various disciplines in the arts, sciences, and humanities. INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM The Intensive English Program (IEP) is the ideal way to learn English and to prepare for university-level education in the U.S. The Intensive English Program offers full-time weekly instruction from professional, highly qualified teachers who are native English speakers. Your communication skills will greatly improve, and you will develop better study and research skills. A free

5 tutoring program is also offered, which will give you the individual help needed to succeed even faster! The Intensive English Program also includes frequent cultural field trips and visits to American homes, which will help you learn more about American culture. 8 A HOME AWAY FROM HOME DBU provides an exciting and unforgettable student life experience for our international students. DBU s student services are unique in that they meet the individual needs of every student, while enabling them to succeed in and out of the classroom. STUDENT SERVICES International Center and Services Offered The biggest difference between DBU and many other schools is that international students are a top priority. DBU has a large International Center, with a staff dedicated to meet the individual needs of every student! When you first arrive into Dallas, you will be welcomed by a friendly DBU staff member who will give you a ride to the campus. Once on campus, you will be taken to your dorm room or apartment, where you will find clean sheets, a sleeping bag, and a few gifts from the International Center to make you feel at home. Once settled, transportation will be provided for you to buy groceries at the store, set up an account at the bank, and buy any others items you need to get settled in. DBU also provides all students a welcome orientation to explain the things you need to know to have a successful experience at DBU and in the United States. You will find that the International

9 Center makes getting involved at DBU easy and transitioning into American life smooth. DBU offers a great number of student services including transportation, housing, tutoring, student clubs, retreats, and cultural trips. The International Center has a friendly staff from around the world that is here to meet your individual needs. You will find that DBU will quickly become your Home Away from Home. They provide free transportation, tutoring, and a lot of opportunities for students to learn English such as Conversation Partners and the Home Stay Program. Whenever it s my birthday, I always receive a birthday letter from the office wishing me a happy birthday. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful; I know DBU actually cares about me. DBU is like my home in the U.S. It has helped me become a better person than I could have asked for. PAULO BELLI BRAZIL Studying at Dallas Baptist University has been an amazing experience.
