3 Holidays 20 days in the first year, rising to 25 on completion of your first anniversary. Thereafter, every 2 years an extra day is added to a maximum of 30 days. The company allows for a maximum of 5 day s unpaid leave per annum, by prior consent. Holiday Buy-Back Scheme Once you have accrued holiday in excess of the statutory minimum (currently 20 days plus bank holidays, pro-rata for part-timers), some or all of those excess days can be sold back to the company in exchange for pay. Sick Leave The company operates a generous discretionary sick leave benefit and after 4 month s service the following amounts of salary will be payable: 4 12 months 4 weeks per annum at normal pay 1 year up to 5 years 6 weeks per annum at normal pay 5 or more years 10 weeks per annum at normal pay Employee Benefits 2
4 Group Personal Pension Scheme Within your first two months of joining, the company will pay for a meeting during working hours with an independent financial adviser (Jeremy Burgess, Face-to-Face Financial) to discuss your options regarding the Standard Life Group Personal Pension Scheme. The company will pay 6% of the employee s salary into the scheme and the employee can choose the amount they wish to contribute, the minimum being 3%. The employee has the option of making contributions through the government s Salary Sacrifice scheme, thus saving tax and NI. Healthcare Cash Plan Scheme Employees may enrol in the company cash plan scheme administered by Simply Health,* which is paid for by Ashgate. This scheme allows its members to claim back cash on the following medical services and no medical history is required: Dental: Dental Accident: Optical: Health Screening: Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chriopody, Podiatry, Chiropractic or Acupuncture: Consultation and Scans: 180 per annum 500 per annum 180 per annum 300 per annum 450 per annum 500 per annum 3
5 The scheme also offers discounted gym membership to over 200 gyms, provides an online health information portal, plus a free and confidential helpline and counselling service. As this qualifies as a taxable benefit by the HMRC, a small tax deduction in the region of 36 is made in April each year, as part of the P11D process. To find your nearest hospital, for health screening click on the link below: *Nuffield Health has an agreement which gives members of the Simply Health cash plan or anyone with BUPA cover, a cheaper membership rate. Life Assurance The employee will be covered by the company s life assurance scheme free of charge, which will pay 4 times annual salary to nominated beneficiaries in the event of death in service. 6 Childcare Vouchers The company operates a childcare voucher scheme where payments for childcare can be deducted under the Salary Sacrifice scheme, up to the value of 243 per month, payable to Ofsted-registered nurseries/ childminders, as well as holiday clubs and camps. Car Parking Reimbursement Ashgate has a small company car park, however, for staff who are not eligible for a car parking space, car parking reimbursements are made up to 5 per day, for specific car parks within Farnham. Please note, Ashgate does not pay for travel to and from work. Cycle to Work The company offers membership of the Cycle to Work scheme which allows for the purchase of a new cycle and ancillary equipment to the value of 1,000 under the Salary Sacrifice scheme. The payment is then deducted from your pay each month, over a period of 12 months. Rail Season Ticket Loans The company offers season ticket loans to assist with the purchase of rail season tickets. The loan amount is then deducted from your pay each month, over a period of 12 months. 5
7 Eye Voucher Scheme All employees are entitled to free eye examinations. This service is administered by using vouchers. If you require glasses for VDU work only, the company will issue a voucher valued at 55 towards the cost. Flexible Working Policy The company operates a flexible working policy which allows staff to choose their start and finish times around the core hours of 10:00 and 15:30 (for full-time staff). Staff may request to change their hours with the prior agreement of their line manager up to twice per year. Charity Initiatives Ashgate strives to be a socially responsible employer. As such, the company encourages participation in various volunteering events across the year, such as cleaning up Farnham Park. The company designates some of its annual profits to local charities determined by a staff committee. Through the work of its affiliated charity, The Estelle Trust, the company also sponsors a number of initiatives in Zambia. Employee Benefits 6
8 Training and Development Ashgate is committed to offering employees appropriate training to enhance their careers and contributions to the company. As part of the appraisal process, all requests for suitable training courses will be given serious consideration, provided the cost falls within reasonable budgetary limitations. Company Communications Ashgate encourages sharing of information from the management teams and pooling of knowledge among staff. For example, various events take place during the year to disseminate information about company goals and performance levels and there are also social events such as the annual Garden Party and Christmas lunch. The company also invests in technological advances such as the latest operating systems (Office 2010 and new hardware, a bespoke enterprise database and most recently a video conferencing system). Discounts on Books All staff are able to purchase books published by the company at a 50% discount. Discounted Leisure Centre Membership A 15% discounted membership is also offered to employees at Farnham Leisure Centre and Alton Sports Centre. Discount on Legal Fees Kidd Rapinet offer a 10% discount on their legal fees for Ashgate staff members. 7
