1 Active Directory Course Type Course Type # This entry-level course is designed for a LAN Administrator to understand the Active Directory structure specific to the Browardschools domain. Participants will learn how to use the Custom MMC for managing AD, manage User Accounts, Groups, Computer Accounts, and join Computers to the Domain. They will also learn the use of the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to transfer files and settings from an old computer to a new computer. Active Directory Deployment - MAC Sites Course Type # This course is designed for LAN Administrators to perform the duties of migrating from an NT 4.0 environment to the Browardschools Active Directory structure with the guidance of an ETS Staff member/team. Participants will migrate the User Accounts, Groups, and Computer Accounts at their site to the AD environment. Staff members will be taught how to logon to the new domain structure. Upon completion the site or Innovation Zone will be totally migrated to AD. Please contact ETS to determine if course is appropriate for your environment. Advanced Ghosting Techniques Course Type # This course is designed as an advanced course to learn ghosting troubleshooting and techniques. In addition you will learn what a Preboot execution Environment (PXE) is and how it is used in image deployment. Advanced School Website Solutions Course Type # Web designees will learn how to update their school website using BCPS standard templates. This course will include instruction on customizing the school website navigation menus, how to develop and post newsletters and changes made to the website template.
2 Apple Server 10.5 Module I Course Type # This is a one-day class where training will be hands-on with an actual server. Participants will learn how to create and manage user accounts, folders, groups, create and manage sharepoints and permissions utilized on the district servers. It is required that the site have an Apple 10.5 server prior to attending this session since follow-up requires working on an actual server. Total Inservice Apple Server 10.5 Module II Course Type # This class is established as a one-day class where training will be hands-on with an actual server. Participants will learn how backups are configured, how to restore from a Retrospect Backup, create client backups, as well as import users from TERMS. It is required that the site have an Apple 10.5 server prior to attending this session since follow-up requires working on an actual server. Follow-up will consist of a Pre and Post-Test. Apple Server 10.5 with AD Course Type # This is four-hour training where the focus will be on the technical differences between Apple Servers being integrated with Active Directory and Open Directory. Participants must have prior experience managing Apple Servers with the 10.4 Operating System. Experience can be demonstrated by: 1) Completion of Server OS X for Server Administrators or Apple Server for Server Administrators Course. Follow-up will consist of a Pre and Post -Test. Hours in Session 4 Total Inservice 5 Points Basic Terms Course Type # BASIC TERMS is for new TERMS users. Participants will learn to access and correctly enter and analyze data in the TERMS student database in accordance with the requirements of the School Board of Broward County and the Florida Department of Education Hours in Session 12 Total Inservice 14 Points
3 BCPS Web Designee Management Course Type # Web designees will learn how to customize their school s website using BCPS s standard templates. This course will include instruction on uploading and maintaining navigation menus, photo rotator, calendar of events, and school specific information. CAB Site Conference Controller Course Type # Training will be hands-on with the participants accounts. Training will occur in a group setting. Training will be an entry-level session for users new to the CAB (First Class) system or users who need a refresher session for the updated version. Canon Copier Management Course Type # The goal of this class is to provide participants with the tools to make data-driven decisions about Canon copier usage, placement, monitoring supplies, and management. Prerequisites include: Canon copiers must be connected to the network. Participants should bring with them: CAB user download requested from CAB Administrator in.csv format and model(s) of copiers to download the users into the address book. Computrace - Theft Recovery Software Course Type # PENDING This is a three-hour training where the focus will be to explain the process for deploying and monitoring the devices in the Computrace Customer Center. Participants will learn the best practices for monitoring devices, reporting thefts, obtaining support, and understand the functionality of the software.
4 DeepFreeze for Macintosh Computers Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to install and configure DeepFreeze for Macintosh computers. You will also learn how to establish a maintenance window according to the district standard and install the LANDesk plugin. DeepFreeze for Windows Computers Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to install and configure DeepFreeze for Windows computers. You will also learn how to establish a maintenance window according to the district standard and install the LANDesk plugin. Deploy Studio for Apple Server 10.5 Course Type # Training will be hands-on on a 10.5 Apple Server. Participants will learn how to enable the NetBoot services on your Apple XServer. They will be able to create install and boot images. They will also learn troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite: Site Apple server must be upgraded to v10.5, participant must be approved by site administrator as server admin and must have taken either Apple Server 10.5 Module 1 or Apple Server 10.5 Differences. Follow-up will consist of a Pre and Post-Test. Hours in Session 4 Total Inservice 5 Points Depot Works Course Type # Depot Works gives you the ability to report Apple hardware repairs online, track repair status, get a history of repairs, and track warranty information.
5 Digital Classroom Support Course Type # Learn about the equipment in a Digital Classroom and how to support the various components. These include, but are not limited to, the interactive white board, document camera, LCD projector, sound system, and DVD players. Find out the web site resources for both technical and teacher support. FileMaker 10 Remote Administration Course Type # Participants will learn how to manipulate FileMaker data to obtain desired results. The learner will gain knowledge of how to manage their networked databases through remote administration. Further they will learn how to backup server housed databases and trouble shooting techniques. Follow-up will consist of submitting a product demonstrated by managing the site FileMaker databases. Prerequisite: Site server must be updated to FileMaker Pro Server v10.x. Hours in Session 4 Total Inservice 5 Points FTE & Terms for Administrators Course Type # Participants will learn to access, become familiar with and analyze data in the TERMS student database. They will become familiar with the State of Florida Department of Education FTE (Full Time Equivalency) Process of funding students. Ghosting for Windows Computers Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to create and deploy images in the Windows environment. You will also learn how to install LANdesk on images and troubleshoot imaging issues.
6 Ghosting v2.5 for Win 7 Course Type # This course is designed as a course to learn ghosting troubleshooting and techniques for v2.5 that is compatible with Windows 7. You will also examine the benefits of the System Preparation Tool (Sysprep) and how it is used to deploy operating systems throughout your environment. Go Green Team Course Type # ETS presents strategies for successfully developing and implementing the Go Green Program. Green Team Members will learn to discuss, compare, and evaluate techniques that can be used in the development of their site Go Green Plan for Output Reduction. Green Team Learning Community Course Type # ETS presents a Learning Community for Innovation Zones to successfully develop and implement the Go Green Program. Green Team Members will learn to discuss, compare, and evaluate techniques that can be used in the development of their site s Go Green Plans for Output Reduction. Face-to-face meetings will be offered at the beginning and ending of the course. Additionally, there will be monthly Elluminate Sessions that allow the teams to Total Inservice interact with the Trainer and other schools within their zones. Hours in Session 18 Follow up Hours 6 Total Inservice 24 Points Imaging for Macintosh Computers Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to create and deploy images in the Macintosh environment. You will also learn how to install LANDesk on images and troubleshoot imaging issues.
7 Introduction to Windows 7 Course Type # Training will be hands-on and will occur in a group setting. Participants will learn the basic components of Windows 7 and how it differs from Windows XP. They will learn how to navigate through their hard drive, save documents to various locations, print a document, burn a CD, and where to locate help resources. Additionally they will become familiar with new Windows 7-compatible applications that are available. LANDesk Desktop Management Tools v9 Course Type # This training is entry-level and will use the LANDesk Console v9. Participants will learn how to logon to the LANDesk 32-bit and web consoles, pull reports and inventories, create groups for software distribution, distribute software through the management console, and remotely manage site-based computers for troubleshooting purposes. Hours in Session 4 Total Inservice 5 Points Macintosh Admin Basics Course Type # Training will be hands-on. Training will occur in a group setting. Participants will learn how to configure and manage their OS X environment. This is a mid-level course for TLCs and Microcomputer Technology Specialists. Hours in Session 12 Follow up Hours 4 Total Inservice 16 Points Maintain & Troubleshoot Mac Environments Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to manage and maintain the Mac within the SBBC environment. It will include, but is not limited to, installing district supported software as well as provide basic troubleshooting techniques.
8 Maintain & Troubleshoot the PC Environment Course Type # This course is designed for a user to understand how to manage and maintain the PC within the SBBC environment. It will include, but is not limited to, installing district supported software as well as provide basic troubleshooting techniques. MarkVision Output Management Course Type # Lexmark MarkVision Professional is a utility program that can be used for making data-driven decisions about printer/copier usage, placement, and monitoring supplies. The goal of the session will be to provide participants with the utility and instructions on using the tool to manage your site. MarkVision Output Organization Course Type # Lexmark MarkVision Professional is a utility program that can be used for making data-driven decisions about printer/copier usage, placement, and monitoring supplies. The goal of the session is to provide participants who cannot leave their campus with an on-line source to learn how to use the utility as a tool for managing their site output devices. The content covered is identical to the MarkVision Output Management course and participants will not be allowed to register for both courses. New TLC Orientation Course Type # Training will assist the new TLC on the resources available to support their site technology. They will be informed where to get assistance from ETS as well as the vendors. In addition they will understand what hardware and software is available and supported, technology bids in place to purchase hardware and software, technology policies, what electronic forms are available and where to find them, and the hardware repair process. Follow up Hours -6 Total Inservice 0 Points INFORMATIONAL ONLY
9 New TLC TSCP Learning Community Course Type # This learning community will meet on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00-9:00 PM for a total of 18 weeks. Topics will include site-based technology management, server management, managing enduser applications, and tools for managing the technology at your site. This is offered to new TLCs only and will include conversations regarding updated and emerging technologies. Hours in Session 50 6 Total Inservice Points 66 Operating Systems 10.5 Differences Course Type # This is a three-hour training where the focus will be on the technical differences in Apple Operating System Training will occur in a group setting. Participants will learn how to configure settings for network connectivity and setup a printer in System Preferences. A demonstration will be presented on creating a LANDesk query to determine which computers at a site able to be upgraded to the new Operating System. Participants will be shown that MAC_OSX5_Ready queries have been created in the Public folder of each Core server to determine which computers at their site are upgradable. Pinnacle Gradebook Elementary Course Type # This 3-hour course is designed as a train-the-trainer model for Grade-book Managers from each school to provide support and training to school faculty in the use of the Pinnacle Gradebook. Activities include demonstration and hands-on practice to guide participants through the functions of the digital grade-book. Participants should bring an Internet capable laptop. Total Inservice Points 4 Site Management for TLCs Course Type # Training will assist the new TLC on the in s and out s of managing the technology at their site in an efficient manner. They will be informed of ETS and vendor resources to assist in their day-to-day activities.
10 Supporting Windows 7 Course Type # This is a three-hour training where the focus will be on the technical differences between the Windows XP and Windows 7 Operating Systems. The targeted audience is TLCs. Participants will learn how to configure settings for network connectivity and setup a printer in Devices and Printers. Additionally they will learn how they can utilize Compatibility and XP mode to help older applications run properly. Teacher School Website Solutions Course Type # Teachers will learn how to create a website using BCPS s standard templates. This course will include instruction on creating their own website on the school s website, how to develop and post newsletters, club information, homework assignments, class agendas, etc. By the end of the class the teacher should have a working website. Telephone Systems Administrator Course Type # Training will include the management of the standard telephone systems deployed to district sites. Participants will leave the session understanding how to add, move, replace, and change phones at their sites. They will also learn how to program the buttons on the administrative phone sets and do basic troubleshooting and repairs. Toshiba Copier Management Course Type # The goal of this class is to provide participants with the tools to make data-driven decisions about Toshiba copier usage, placement, monitoring supplies, and management. Prerequisites include: Toshiba copiers must be connected to the network. Participants should bring with them: CAB user download requested from CAB Administrator in.csv format and model(s) of copiers to download the users into the address book.
11 TSCP Professional Learning Community Course Type # This program will meet Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00-9:00 PM for a total of nine weeks. Topics will include technology management, server management, managing end-user applications, and tools for managing the technology at your site. This is offered to former TSCP participants only and will include conversations regarding updated and emerging technologies. Hours in Session 45 5 Total Inservice 60 Points Windows Server Management Module I Course Type # Participants will learn why and how the school district utilizes the windows server environment for Windows 2003 operating systems. They will learn how to create and manage user accounts and folders utilized on the district servers. Participants will be required to attend part 2 of this module. Windows Server Management Module II Course Type # Participants will learn why and how the school district utilizes the windows server environment for Windows 2003 operating systems. They will learn how to create and manage global groups utilized on the district servers as well as learn about sharing volumes to multiple platforms and understand backing up their server. Windows Server Management Module III Course Type # Participants will learn why and how the school district utilizes the windows server environment for Windows 2003 operating systems. Users will also have hands on for server monitoring techniques, troubleshooting, managing services, restoring from backups, terminal services, and LANDesk.
