I have been reading and studying this system for about a month now. I have read your book (Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos) many times, purchased a craps simulator for my computer and have been watching them play at my local casino. Last night, I actually played for the first time. I thought you would like to know what happened to me. Every time they rotated a new dealer to my side of the table that dealer would ask me if I was making a mistake in my wager by placing come/don t come bets. One dealer actually returned my don t-come bet because she thought it rolled over there by accident. Even my fellow players were asking me what I was doing and that I had a screw loose. The shooter on my left said it looked like no fun to him as he proceeded to drop $500 on a $5 minimum table, 10-times odds table in 45 minutes. I, on the other hand, turned my $200 bankroll into $285 and the table had yet to have a hot roller (I did that after a very long 5-Count, maybe 15 rolls of the dice). After enduring funny looks from each new dealer I noticed the boxman talking with the pit boss occasionally while taking more notice of my play. This table was crazy busy with everyone shoulder to shoulder at the rail. I only played three numbers as you suggested in Frankly Speaking By Frank Scoblete your book for first time players. It took all my concentration to follow my bets and confirm the payouts. Some dealers pay the Don t Come box instead of passing it to the winner, which is hard to follow with so many chips flying. After an hour I was getting familiar with the table and was positive on my bankroll having not seen a hot roll yet. The Crazy Crappers all around me where dropping like flies with bankrolls easily two or three times my $200. An hour and a half went by and I was starting to gain momentum again with five good rolls never having at risk more than $30 at one time. The casino shifted in a new stickman who suddenly slapped his stick on my Come/ Don t Come bet and said they weren t right. Myself, along with the dealers (both of them), looked puzzled and asked him what he meant. He said I could not wager matching Come and Don t Come bets and that one of them had to be greater than the other by at least the table minimum. Again, looking puzzled, the dealer and I said that was not correct. I told the stickman I had been through six dealers now who had mysteriously missed that rule, as well. One reason for this, besides his friendly personality, is that Barachina makes up gourmet pastries, cakes and treats in The Bakery, one of several eateries at the resort. Barachina is executive pastry chef, and The Bakery is where he shows off his delicious creations. My goal is to take The Bakery above and beyond, Barachina said, and create items guests haven t seen before. One example is his banana pudding, which Barachina has renamed caramel banana pudding. We take a good Southern dessert and give it a little twist, he said. That twist is that Barachina caramelizes the bananas he uses in the pudding. This adds an extra layer of flavor and taste to this traditional dessert. You don t mess around with tradition, the chef added, but there are some things you can do to take it a step further. That extra step is also found in such tasty temptations as the pink lemonade cupcake, pineapple upside-down cake, chocolate whiskey cake, lemon blueberry verrine, crème brulee and the New York-style cheesecake, which is made for two. 22 Benatar, Giraldo still making beautiful music Husband and wife perform at Beau BILOXI Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo are more than husband and wife they are amazing music-makers. The two will perform at Beau Rivage on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 8 p.m. Giraldo, who was brought in as the guitarist and musical conductor for Benatar, wrote We Live for Love, the first of Benatar s many top 40 hits. Invincible, Fire and Ice, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, We Belong, Love is a Battlefield, Hell is for Children, Promises In The Dark and Heartbreaker are just part of the list. Every one a Top 40 hit, and even more than that, an anthem that defines an era for anyone who grew up in the 1980s, when Benatar stood as the unparalleled queen of rock. Europe will perform The Final Countdown and other hits when they perform at Hard Rock Biloxi on Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. The band started in a small suburb outside of Stockholm, Sweden, when Joey Tempest and John Norum first met as teenagers. They won a rock band competition and the first prize was a recording contract. When Europe was released in 1983, kids in Sweden and Japan really identified with the music, and soon Epic Records in New York became interested in the band and signed them to a million dollar contract. BILOXI Lou Gramm, former frontman for the rock band Foreigner, will no doubt sing songs he made famous with the 80s band and hits from his solo career when he comes to Golden Nugget for one performance on Friday, Feb. 12. He takes the showroom stage at 8 p.m. In the 1970 s, Gramm caught the attention of several in the music world, including Mick Jones who tapped Gramm to front his new group, Foreigner. Together they began writing songs, co-authoring the smash Cold as Ice from Foreigner s best-selling 1977 eponymous debut LP. Gramm s powerfully distinctive vocals were hard to miss as Foreigner had a Europe series of radio hits, including Hot Blooded, Double Vision, Urgent and Waiting for a Girl Like You. The hits culminated in 1984 s chart-topping power ballad, I Want to Know What Love Is, which became a No. 1 hit in America, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and the U.K. Foreigner took a brief hiatus, and Gramm made his solo debut in 1987 with Ready or Not, scoring a hit with Midnight Blue. Foreigner reconvened and recorded another platinumselling album, Inside Information, but Gramm maintained his solo success with 1989 s Long Hard Look and soon left group to form his own band, Shadow King, which released its Their third album, The Final Countdown, featured the hit single by the same name that soon became No. 1 in more than 25 countries and is still a big anthem today. In 1990, the band relocated to Los Angeles to record their fifth album, and following an extensive tour, the members took a break. In 2004, the band got back together, producing four more albums in an eight-year period. With continued touring and an ever-growing fan base, Europe returned to Stockholm to record their 10th studio album, War of Kings, which was released in March That album has proven Europe still has what it takes to be a hitmaker. 23 Still releasing albums, Nelson performs at IP BILOXI Willie Nelson has not slowed down one bit since his early days of making music. The 82-year-old country outlaw and award winner returns to Biloxi for two performances at IP Casino on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6, at 8 p.m. Nelson continues to perform and record albums. His newest album, Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin, will be released at the end of February. On this album, Nelson sings hits by songwriters George and Ira Gershwin, including Embraceable You (a duet with Sheryl Crow), It Ain t Necessarily So, Someone to Watch Over Me and Let s Call the Whole Thing Off (a duet with Cyndi Lauper). Nelson s career started in the 60s, when he wrote Night Life (reputedly the most covered country song of all time) for Ray Price and joined Price s touring band as a bass player. While playing with Price and the Cherokee Cowboys, many of Nelson s songs became hits for some of country music s biggest stars of the time. These songs include Funny How Time Slips Away, Hello Walls, Pretty Paper and most famously, Crazy. Although Nelson signed a recording contract and released several singles, he was unable to get much play. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1965, but still had only minor success. After retiring for a time, Nelson decided to return to music playing his own brand of country with rock and roll, jazz, swing and folk influences. The next few years were a fine time for the singer, who along with friend Waylon Jennings, created a genre called outlaw country. Nelson released hit songs and platinum albums. He also took a chance and started acting in movies and TV shows, and in the 1986 TV movie Stagecoach, he worked with Kristofferson, Jennings and Johnny Willie Nelson Cash. The four would later form a band called The Highwaymen, which would prove to be highly successful. Nelson has had hit after hit, including Always on My Mind, On the Road Again and To All the Girls I ve Loved Before with Julio Iglesias.
