1 Report to the Industry Our vision:
2 Chairman s Message On behalf of the Collision Repair Education Foundation staff, Board of Trustees, and the high school and college collision school programs across the country that we support, I would like to congratulate the collision industry for making 2014 an incredible year. Not only did the organization break several fundraising records over the course of the year, but we made great strides in working to help connect collision school programs with local industry businesses ensuring that the graduating students are prepared for entry-level employment within our industry. MISSION To secure and distribute charitable donations to support endeavors that promote, qualify, and properly train employees entering the collision industry. With regards to the record breaking milestones in 2014, the organization is very thankful to its industry supporters that helped make the following possible: 2014 was the largest grossing fundraiser year for the Collision Repair Education Foundation approaching 14 million raised including monetary and in-kind donations. Our inaugural 2014 Cars, Careers & Celebrities event in Dallas this past August was the largest single fundraiser event for the organization. Over 300,000 was raised during the event and significantly raised the level of industry awareness to the greater Dallas area collision students. Our 2014 annual summer golf fundraiser raised a record 85,000. These funds assist in our abilities to offer student scholarships and school grants. I cannot thank the collision industry enough for their continued support of the Collision Repair Education Foundation. These high school and college collision students are the future professionals of the industry and your support is vital to ensure a quality technical education provided by the local collision school programs. The Collision Repair Education Foundation is a lean and responsible charitable organization returning at least 90 cents of every dollar donated to help the collision school programs. Together with our donors, we are making a significant impact on the future of the industry. Again, Thank you! Terry M. Fortner Chairman CollisionEducationFoundation.org 2

Grants of up to 50,000 were awarded, with over 100,000 in total prizes available. As part of the Makeover grant application, schools provide their own itemized wish list, which can include any tools, supplies, and equipment that are needed by the collision program. The organization s Board of Trustees Selection Committee selects the winners of the awards and determine what items off the wish lists each school received, with the winners announced during SEMA ULTIMATE COLLISION EDUCATION MAKEOVER 50,000 School Grant High School Winner Thomas A. Edison CTE High School (Jamaica, NY) 50,000 School Grant College Winner Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (Lancaster, PA) The goal of the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant is to honor a school that has been doing an outstanding job in educating students in collision repair, but needs some financial assistance to improve their program s teaching materials and equipment. With strained school budgets, the Education Foundation and industry supporters have the opportunity to bridge the program s financial gap and to make a difference in the lives of the students studying collision repair. 7 FUNDRAISING EVENT 85,000 RAISED DURING 13 TH ANNUAL INDUSTRY GOLF FUNDRAISER The thirteenth annual Collision Repair Education Foundation industry fundraiser, co-hosted by PPG Automotive Refinish, raised a record 85,000 through the support of attendees and sponsors. Sponsors and participants enjoyed a day of golf at Northville Hills Golf Club in Northville, Michigan on July 31, 2014 and the funds raised from this event go toward supporting scholarships and grants for collision schools and students. There were also several big winners during the event. Attendee Rick Johnson won 10,000 at the AirBagSolutions.com sponsored hole-in-one contest by sinking his shot. The second annual helicopter golf ball drop, sponsored by LORD Fusor, was part of the event. Golf balls, sponsored by individuals, were dropped from a helicopter above a green, and whomever s ball was closest to the pin won 23% of the total golf ball sales. The winning ball was sponsored by Marie Peevy, and she graciously donated half of her 1,700 winnings back to the Education Foundation. GEICO CollisionEducationFoundation.org 7
8 FUNDRAISING EVENT Over 300,000 IN SUPPORT RAISED, ORGANIZATION S LARGEST FUNDRAISER Collision Repair Education Foundation s Cars, Careers, & Celebrities Expo raised career awareness and funds for the industry s future professionals. The Van Tuyl Group was honored to work in partnership with our friends at the Collision Repair Education Foundation to host this industry event for collision repair students. Anything we can do to support, encourage, and facilitate the students involvement with other industry professionals is simply our way of giving back and ensuring longevity and sustainability for the industry we love. Thank you to everyone who participated. Darren Huggins, National Collision Director, Van Tuyl Group and Host, 2014 Cars, Careers & Celebrities Expo The collision industry came together on August 16 th in Dallas, Texas during the Collision Repair Education Foundation s inaugural Cars, Careers & Celebrities Expo to elevate awareness for local high school and college collision students. The event raised over 300,000 for this group and ended up being the largest fundraiser in the Education Foundation s history. These funds will be used to provide additional student scholarships, tool/equipment grants, and instructor support to help ensure graduating students are ready for employment within the industry. During 2009, our transition year, we raised 300,000 to support our new philanthropic focus of assisting high school and college collision school programs, instructors, and students nationwide and in 2014 we surpassed the 13 million mark, with over 35 million raised in total. As the Foundation s Executive Director, it has been my role, along with our superb staff, to make sure we are doing our very best to add value back to the industry through their generous donations. During the early years of the Foundation, we supported 1,400 schools through our work with I-CAR to develop and distribute curriculum. By late 2012, the number of schools with collision repair programs had fallen to 1,150. Today, we have taken a far more active role in supporting schools (a smaller number, with greater focus) that will ultimately help us to fill the industry s void of qualified entry-level employees. We collaborate with local and regional industry representatives to build sustainable partnerships with the schools they rely upon in their communities to train their future workforce. This results in more direct industry involvement and a better understanding on where to apply donor dollars that will help us fulfill our vision. We are working with state and local governments to raise the awareness around the challenges in repairing today s advanced vehicles. We are working with I-CAR and educators to build curriculum, not just technical training, but core classes that align with our industry s needs. Classroom models and college degree programs are being built today to handle tomorrow s needs. Bridges are being built that allow students, leaving high school with their I-CAR certificates, to receive college credit, and work towards a degree in Collision Repair Technology. Parents, administrators and students for the most part remain unaware of the great opportunities for a career within our industry. With our support, the industry is helping to spread the word about the unlimited access to greater paying careers inside the industry. By the end of 2015, we hope that our research will quantify that the funding we provide is moving the needle to provide the greater numbers of well-trained, job ready applicants with a far broader perspective of all the opportunities that await them at graduation and throughout their career in the collision industry. Sincerely, Clark Plucinski Executive Director CollisionEducationFoundation.org 10
