WebPublish Create an entire website in one program for easy and great results. WebPublish is a modern and powerful publishing tool that can be customized to suit the needs of every organization. With WebPublish anyone can edit and publish information. It s possible to create flexible and well-maintained websites by offering advanced functions for Webmasters together with simple editing options for others. Now everyone can work at their own pace, whether at a beginner or an advanced web-developer level, without the risk of changing elements they are not directly working on. As a web-based tool, it allows you to make changes to your website from any computer wherever you are. WebPublish is a customizable system and we are therefore able to tailor the functions or the program itself, to suit your organization s existing systems. The seven advantages of WebPublish Built-in Image and Document Archives. Large range of design templates, editable with a WYSIWYG editor. Compliant with Public Website Accessibility Guidelines. Unique support for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Flexible user-management with LDAP-connection and individual permission rights Create your own templates for your content and design needs. A web-based tool accessible wherever you find an Internet connection. No programs need to be installed on the computer.

Smart and Simple Your website has limitless possibilities to present your organization or business. However the site s contents should offer your visitor the information they are searching for, while also being simple for you to maintain. WebPublish is a tool for creating and updating well-built websites. Its core value is simplicity. This means that as a user, you will find it easy to create and manage your website. and the information will be published to the web with a straight-forward process. WebPublish is built according to the latest web standards and contains a range of advanced functionalities. As such, advanced users do not have to go without, for the sake of ease and simplicity for less experienced users. Advanced users have thus been considered and well taken care of. With WebPublish, your website can be maintained by those who already work in your organization. No additional I.T. resources or expensive consultants are required to use the tool. In this way you are able to save time and money through a simplified and more effective information process flow. WebPublish is also suited to the development of large websites where multiple stakeholders work together to bring the site to life. Every user has their own area of responsibility and thus permission settings allow for the delegation of control over individual pages. This prevents users from editing parts of the site they are not responsible for. Even though each user can only edit their permitted pages, all users retain a comprehensive view of the project and where their work sits within the site structure. The design and layout of the website is controlled by design templates that create a uniform look, even if many different people are involved and working on it. Today, we have over 100 customers that use our tool, including local authorities and medium sized enterprises. Even though the program contains an abundance of interactive and dynamic functions, many of our customers have chosen to create unique solutions and functions in order for the tool and the resulting website to be tailored to their needs. WebPublish allows for website version management. This means that it is possible to have previous versions of pages saved, have a newer version published online, all while creating a work-in-progress version yet to be published. This assists in simplifying the often difficult broad-reaching site updates and also assists in creating temporary page updates that later revert to a previous version. Testing something new, without permanently throwing out the old, is therefore simple. WebPublish is developed in ASP.NET 3.5, a modern platform that provides for simple management of users, data and content on websites. ASP.NET 3.5 also improves the website s stability and productivity while also increasing scalability, security and performance. A primary focus during development was to create a simple and user-friendly tool. Our own website was created with the help of Artologik WebPublish.

Public Website Accessibility Guidelines WebPublish makes it possible to create reader-friendly websites. We believe that information should be presented in a fashion that is clear and readable for all Internet users, independent of any computer-aids the visitors are using. The former Government Agency for Swedish Administrative Development developed management guidelines for website usability and accessibility that have set the standard for creating public websites. The guidelines are known as 24-timmarswebben (The 24 hour web) and within these guidelines are specific requirements for web publishing tools. WebPublish has been developed in line with these requirements. This means that WebPublish creates a code that follows specified web standards and that many different types of aided Internet users are able to access its contents. One such example is that tables are not used in the layout template, but rather are published automatically as hierarchical grids. This ensures that each page follows a uniformed grid, which assists users using page-reader aids. More information about Public Website Accessibility Guidelines can be found in our specific compliance documents or online at Search Engine Optimization The most important consideration with your website is to ensure that visitors find the information they are searching for. If they are not able to find the sought-after content, it will not matter how good your content really is. The easiest way to find information online, when you are not exactly sure where to look, is to use a Search Engine like Google. The Search Engine must be able to read what the website pages are about for it to show in search results, and preferably rank highly. Therefore, WebPublish has a unique support for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). WebPublish is developed so that the tool contains an SEO form to fill in for each page. It is therefore easy to fill in all the metadata, such as descriptions and keywords, while creating title-tags and individual filenames. The information in the form generates the HTML code for SEO, without the user needing any HTML knowledge. In addition to the SEO form, the design templates in WebPublish define elements with relevant HTML-tags, such as h1, h2 and h3, which structures information in an easy-to-understand format for Search Engines, thus contributing to SEO. Of course, this also assists visitors to browse through a well laid-out website. The exact methodology of Search Engines used to determine rankings is a mystery. What is known are the factors that contribute to a website being optimized for Search Engines to find and review its contents for relevance. With these factors in mind, our tool assists you in creating pages that are both user- and search-friendly by creating logical structures that present visitors with relevant information in logical ways.

Administration and Security Websites contain a vast amount of information that is publically accessible. It is therefore important to keep this information safe by securely controlling who is able to edit the website, its design and contents. Thanks to the Page Reader function it is possible to create a website where each user sees different content, dependent on who they are. Another important security feature is that since WebPublish is web based, all the information and files are saved on a web server. This means that the information is protected from hard-disk or system crashes. WebPublish creates a unique username and password for each individual user. User permissions are allocated individually, so it is possible to restrict access to pages or functions for each user, as needed. WebPublish also has the ability to restrict reader-access to the published pages. This means that it is possible to create websites that are wholly or partly hidden for visitors who do not have a username and a password. User Administration It is critical that a web publishing tool works together with the organization s processes. WebPublish has the flexibility to establish and clearly define user roles and permissions within the project. The tool works equally well where it is primarily a sole user working on the website, or where it is used by multiple users from various organizational departments. WebPublish can therefore simplify ongoing work on your website. When an authorized user logs into the tool, they arrive at the start page. Here the user gets an overview of which pages they have recently worked on, if there are any pages soon to be published, if there are any pages that need to be approved or if there are pages that are about to expire. The start page also contains a user forum where users can leave each other messages, for example, about how the work is progressing. You are able to manage several websites within the same WebPublish license. This makes it possible to administer both internal and external websites along with intranets, all within the same tool. User permissions can be set so that certain users are only able to access and work on a specific project or website while others are able to have total access, all of which is totally dependent on how the user administration is structured for your team. WebPublish can be connected up with a LDAP-connection so to import an existing user registry. A registry update then is automatically actioned across all systems that use the LDAP connection. Our tool has the additional functionality of using a single sign-on so that a Windows log-in can be combined with a WebPublish log-in.

User Profiles Administrator The Administrator has responsibility for managing the use of the web publishing tool and therefore the website. It is the Administrator who adds and deletes users, delegates and manages the user permissions and also builds the website s structure. It is recommended that the Administrator has full permission rights in the tool, which means that they are able to change and publish all pages and manage all user permissions, however, the settings can be adjusted for each user. The administrators also have access to use the template tool and create new templates that other users are then able to use when they create and publish pages. Editor and Local Editor The Editor and Local Editor are users who work on the contents of the website. The user permissions allocated to these users are individually determined by the Administrator. Permissions include use of the document and image archives, publishing pages, creating new pages, using the advanced freehand template and much more. The difference between the Editor and the Local Editor is that the former cannot be the Chief Editor for a page or editing group. A Local Editor who does not have permission to publish pages must also send pages for approval to the Editor who in turn can approve and publish pages. When a user is created, there are several recommended permission settings that can be allocated. This is where Editor or Local Editor permissions are selected, dependent on the role the user will take on in the project. Page Reader Often a website, in the most part, is open for all to read. However some pages or even a section of the website are often only accessible for those who are, for example, members or employees. WebPublish can administer this through the Page Reader function. Page Readers are added as users in the tool but do not have the permission to use any of its functions. They are given, however, the permission to read password protected pages. Public Users This user type is used for visitors that participate in discussions in forums or add to or comment on the link list. Public Users do not have access to any parts of the tool and can only take part in the specific discussions or link lists they are registered for. Editorial and Reader Groups It is possible to create user groups to make it easier to manage large numbers of users, even in sizeable organizations, where multiple people are engaged in the project. The Editorial Group is for users who will be working with the tool. It consists of one Chief Editor and many Local Editors who are tied to various pages. A user with Local Editor permission cannot be made a Chief Editor. If a user is removed or added to the system, only the Editorial Group needs to be updated for the change to apply to all pages tied to the group. It is therefore not necessary to manually enter each page and edit permissions to those pages. By using this user groups function, it is possible to create groups for various sections of the website, for example, creating groups based on language versions of your site. Reader Groups are the corresponding group type for Page Readers. Reader Groups can, for example, be created for a specific internal department or individual type of member, each of which is tied to different pages.

Artologik WebPublish Functionality WebPublish contains a large number of functions and tools that together help you create an impacting and dynamic website. All functions have been developed to be as easy to use as possible in order to publish information onto the web. All of the functions work together as a smart toolbox for website graphic design. We have only described a selection of the many functions and tools that are included in WebPublish within this product information sheet. More information can be found in the function description section below and on our website. We have also worked with special customized solutions and we have experience in developing new solutions, tools and functions, beyond those described here. Many of the existing functions can even be tailored to suit your specific needs. Contact us for a demonstration or trial today! +46 (0) Page Templates Page templates dictate how the site s contents will be presented and what can be created and edited as content on individual pages. When a new page is created, a page template is chosen to apply to that page. It is also possible in WebPublish for the Administrator to build their own content templates. In this way the structure of pages can be controlled and remains uniform, even where there are many users editing pages. The Administrator chooses in the template tool where various page elements, such as headings, body text and images etc, will sit and then Editors are able to fill in those placeholders with the final information. designs without expert code knowledge. In this template, it is entirely up to the user where text, images, links and other content will be placed. The edit-mode window has the same appearance as that of a word processing program where text is simply edited, link management can be used and where the image and document archives are easily accessible. The existing templates types in WebPublish are, among others, a freehand template, a news item template, an event template, a forum template and link list template. The freehand template uses a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, which makes it simple and easy to create beautiful content

Image Archive All imagery that is to be accessible for use on the website is uploaded to the Image Archive within the tool. site. This is extremely useful when an image is to be removed from the site as it shows where broken links have or will occur as a result. The upload process is simple and easy and the images can be saved in several different sizes. It is also possible to do some simple image editing, like cropping, rotating and flipping, during the upload process in the tool. The images can then be tagged, which allocates keywords to the files, for easy reference and connection to a news item page or event page containing the same keywords. Taking images from the Image Archive and using them on the website is simple. The archive is structured with multiple folder levels so to maintain order among the files. For every image in the archive, there is a list of where that image has been used on the Document Archive Many websites use documents that are linked from various pages within the website. WebPublish has a built-in archive, which simplifies document management for the project. The Document Archive uses folders and subfolders to maintain an organized structure and to facilitate searching for specific files. To link to a document from a page on the website, it is as simple as entering the Document Archive and selecting the appropriate document. Attached to each document is a list of where that document has been linked to within the site. Additionally, as the whole tool is web-based, it is possible to access the files from any computer with an Internet connection.

Banner Management Banners are the image links or advertising that many websites utilize to display feature material. It is quite simple to link an image to a page (internal or external), document or news item. It is also possible to determine in what order images will load. If banners are to be used on the website, they need to be included in the layout template by the Administrator. Dynamic Loading Function Dynamic content is connected to other pages within the site. This is where a section on a page contains information that is loaded from a sole source. This can be used where, for example, contact information, images or links are connected with the homepage. It allows for pages to be interrelated in the site hierarchy, by working as a co-worker page. This way information can be automatically loaded into several pages by being connected to the co-worker page. How information is connected between pages can be determined by selecting the function on each specific page it is to be loaded on. If you want several subpages to inherit the connection, it is possible to choose this too. Multi-language functions Many websites are created in several languages. This can be managed with WebPublish in two different ways. The first is to connect pages in one language to the corresponding pages in another language, and then you can switch between the two, both on the published website and within WebPublish, by using a language link. Alternatively, where some elements in the layout do not work across all languages, such as logos or slogans, you are able to make a copy of the main template and customize it for the other language. This template copy will maintain the same page structure as the other respective language pages.
