1 Radmap Drawings HOW-TO GUIDE PIERCE This dcument is designed t train cmmunity cllege users f the Career Pathways Radmap Web Tl thrugh: the steps f initial lg in t the Web Tl; creating, editing and managing Radmap Drawings; and understanding hw t btain embed cde fr sharing drawings nline. WELCOME! 1 2 Lgging In 1.1 G t Type yur full address, e.g. username@schl.edu 1.3 Type yur Passwrd 1.4 Click Lg In. The Dashbard is Displayed Upn Lgin 2.1 In the tp-right crner yu will find cnfirmatin f yur user name, have access yur accunt prfile, change yur passwrd, and lg ut. 2.2 The Dashbard prvides access t resurces such as recent site updates, highlighted features, links t autmated frms fr reprting a bug r requesting a feature, and nline training materials fund under RESOURCES: Tutrial n the side navigatin bar. Frgt Passwrd? Click Reset Passwrd at the tp f the Lg In page, Type yur full address, Click Submit t receive a temprary passwrd by . Guest? Dn t have an accunt, but want t dem the site? Click Guest Lgin frm the Lg In page, Fill ut the infrmatin frm and click Lg In. 3 Click Radmap Drawings frm the Side Navigatin Bar 3.1 Yu will nw be viewing the list f Radmap drawings assciated with yur accunt. 3.2 At the tp f the list are three (3) filters that set the criteria fr the list f drawings: Organizatins, Users, and Occupatins/Prgrams. Use these filters t explre Radmap drawings by clleagues, r drawings at ther schls. 3.3 Yu can als use the Search feature t search fr a drawing by keywrd, r a user by name. 3.4 Scrll up t the tp f the Organizatins filter, click [Shw All] r use yur muse and the CTRL key n yur keybard t select r deselect multiple items in the list, t quickly filter the drawing list displayed beneath the filters. 3.5 At any time, click the icn fr my drawings t restre yur default settings. The drawing list will update t reflect nly wrk yu have persnally be invlved in creating r editing. 2 4 Creating a New Radmap Drawing 4.1 At the tp f the drawing list, click the icn fr new drawing t create a new Radmap Drawing fr yur rganizatin. 4.2 Select an Apprved Prgram Name frm the drp-dwn list. This will be yur drawing title unless yu prvide an Alternate Title. If "Nt Listed", select "Nt Listed" frm the drp-dwn list and prvide an Alternate Title. NOTE: This feature is t help avid typgraphical errrs and maintain cnsistency in the radmap titles. This list was taken directly frm the Oregn Cmmunity Cllege Viewbk f Apprved Career and Technical Educatin Prgram, January As new prgrams are apprved they will be added t this drp-dwn list. 4.3 Alternate Title: If the prgram name yu need is "Nt Listed" (in the apprved drp-dwn list), yu can manually type yur desired prgram name here. Yu can verride the display f the Apprved Prgram Name in the drawing title bar with a custmized title here. Type a shrt and descriptive title fr yur drawing, such as "Accunting", "Game Prgramming", r "Culinary Arts - Fd Service Management". D nt add yur Organizatin's abbreviatin t the title, r the wrds "Career Pathway", as these are autmatically added by default. 4.4 Yur Organizatin name is cnfirmed beneath. 4.5 Click Create. 4.6 Yur new drawing and Versin 1 has nw been created. Yu are nw viewing the blank drawing canvas (grid) t start designing and creating yur Radmap Drawing. 4.7 Yur rganizatin name/abbreviatin, the Career Pathways lg, and drawing title are autmatically placed in the drawing title bar at the tp f the drawing canvas. T edit the drawing title, click the Drawing Prperties icn next t the drawing title in the VERSION tl bar t the left. Changes t the title will affect the entire drawing, nt just a specific versin. 4.8 Right-click the drawing canvas fr a menu f tl ptins. Objects will be added t the same lcatin that was right-clicked: New Bx, Line, r Arrw NOTE: DO NOT use the Line r Arrw bjects unless abslutely necessary fr yur design layut. Lines and arrws must be manually aligned with bx bjects, and are discuraged. Users shuld use Cnnectins fr ease f layut adjustments and ADA cmpliance. Cnnectins mve with bx bjects, and can translate the relatinship f bx bjects in text nly views f these drawings. We will g in t these in just a minute. Grid Shw Grid, Snap t Grid, r Edit Grid Size 4.9 Create tw new bx bjects, and mve and hrizntally resize the bxes s that yu can practice using the design and editing tls utlined belw. When selected, bxes are highlighted with a blue frame, with left and right blue cntrl pints. Click and drag either pint t expand/retract bx width. Bx height is determined by cntent. 3 4.10 Right-click bx bjects t: Edit Title - this enables an in-place text editr fr the bx's title. Click utside the bx t save changes. Titles default t all CAPS. PIERCE Edit Cntent - the bx's cntent editr will pen in a ppup windw with a WYSIWYG (What Yu See Is What Yu Get) editr fr text entry and frmatting: apply heading styles; create bullet-lists; justify text; create custm table layuts; include hyperlinks t nline dcuments, webpages r ther published Radmaps edit Surce cde (HTML) r CSS fr additinal frmatting; spell check click OK t accept changes, r X t cancel Clr change the bx clr; assciated cnnectins will update t the new bx clr. Start Cnnectin Here starts a dynamic cnnectin between tw bx bjects. End Cnnectin Here (displayed if Start already initiated n ne bx) - end a dynamic cnnectin between tw bx bjects. Once clicked, a cnnectin arrw will autmatically appear cnnecting the tw bx bjects. Duplicate creates a duplicate, with all bx and cntent frmatting f the riginal bx Delete permanently deletes a bx bject (with cnfirmatin) r use the DELETE key n yur keybard Right-click ne bx and click Start Cnnectin Here Right-click the ther bx and click End Cnnectin Here. Slide the starting and ending pints n the bxes t adjust the layut and right-click the cnnectin bject fr a new menu f custmizing ptins! 4.14 Right-click cnnectins menu: Start Pint r End Pint Tp, Bttm, Left, Right Orientatin Hrizntal r Vertical Segments 1-Seg Line (Straight), 1-Set Line (Diagnal), 2-Seg Line ( L ), 3-Seg Line Clr change the cnnectin clr independent f the assciated leading bx Aut Psitin restres default cnnectin t best straight line rientatin Delete permanently deletes a cnnectin (with cnfirmatin) r use the DELETE key n yur keybard Experiment with Cnnectin Segments, and Starting and Ending Pints, t custmize yur layuts and present yur infrmatin with intentinal design Use clrs frm yur rganizatins clr palette cnsistently thrughut yur Radmap designs. Fr instance, bxes fr Certificates are always light blue, Degrees are always darker blue, Emplyment/Career Optins are always green, etc All changes are saved autmatically. There is n und feature utside f the cntent editr Fr best design, print and embedding results, design yur Radmap Drawing t fit t ne (1) page in a prtrait layut. D this by keeping all bjects within the bundaries f the drawing title bar. The Web Tl des nt currently supprt landscape layut r multi-page printing. 5 TOOLS All f these tls are available t yu under the TOOLS menu (left-side navigatin) n the drawing canvas r Versin Settings page when yu are editing/viewing yur POST Drawing, r versin settings infrmatin. 5 Lcking a Drawing 5.1 Frm the TOOLS menu click the lck icn t prevent changes t a specific versin. This is ideal when yu are cllabrating n a drawing, r want t cmpare versins withut the risk f making accidental changes, and yu are nt ready t publish. 5.2 The icn will autmatically update shwing that this versin is nw lcked, and it cannt be un=lcked. Yu must cpy it t a new versin t make changes. 6 Cpy this Versin 6.1 Frm the TOOLS menu click cpy this versin. A pp-up bx will appear. 6.2 Fr Drawings at Yur Organizatin, yu can: a. Cpy this versin as a New Versin t the existing drawing The next available versin number will be added in yur drawing list b. Cpy this versin t a New Drawing, which cpies the existing drawing as a new drawing template (identical drawing) at yur rganizatin. Prvide a new drawing name befre clicking OK. A new drawing and Versin 1 will be created and laded in yur screen t edit. 6.3 Fr Drawings at Anther Organizatin, yu can: a. Cpy the drawing as a New Drawing fr yur rganizatin. Edit the new drawing name (Occupatin/Prgram) befre hitting OK. The drawing will be added t yur drawings list and Versin 1 will be created. NOTE: If n new drawing name is prvided when creating a New Drawing, the riginal drawing name is used and the wrd cpy is appended t the new drawing name by default. 6 7 Print this Versin 7.1 Frm the TOOLS menu click print this versin. This will render yur drawing fr printing with yur brwsers print menu. 7.2 Set yur brwsers print settings t "print backgrund images" s that legend symbls will print prperly. 7.3 Select print preview frm the File menu t ensure it will fit t ne (1) page, in prtrait layut. 7.4 Change print size frm "Shrink t Fit" t a fixed percentage r scale if drawing preview shws an undesired layut. 7.5 Click Print t print t yur netwrked printer. 8 Publish this Versin 8.1 Frm the TOOLS menu click publish this versin, and click yes r n t cnfirm. Yu will autmatically be taken t the Drawing Prperties page where yu can view the versin histry fr the drawing, and have access t the published URL and embed cde s that the Radmap drawing can be publicly accessible. 8.2 Published, and previusly published, versins can n lnger be edited. Cpy it t a new versin t make changes and publish, r re-publish previusly published versins. 8.3 Once published, links t the drawing will always pint t the currently published versin. 9 Unpublish this Versin 9.1 Frm the TOOLS menu click unpublish this versin, and click yes r n t cnfirm. Yu will autmatically be taken t the histry fr the drawing. Drawing Prperties page where yu can view the versin 9.2 Once a drawing is published it can be un-published. This is ideal fr test drawings, drawings that users dn't want shared publicly, r prgrams that are n lnger being ffered, but shuld nt be deleted. Once unpublished, public links t previusly published drawings will return drawing nt fund until a new versin is published. Unpublished versins will remain lcked, and can n lnger be edited. Cpy it t a new versin t make changes. 10 Embedding Radmaps There are several reasns yu wuld want t embed Radmap Drawings in yur rganizatin's web pages rather than simply linking t them. 7 Yu can track visitrs using yur standard analytics sftware, since visitrs will still be visiting pages n yur website 10.1 Basic Embedding The standard way t embed radmaps in yur webpages is by using the "embed cde" prvided in the smething like this Drawing Prperties page fr Radmap Drawings. This cde lks <div id="pathwayscntainer" style="width:100%; height:600px"></div> <script type="text/javascript" src=" </script> Cpy and paste this cde in the area f yur website surce cde that yu want the Radmap t display. The embed cde gives yu the flexibility t easily adjust the width and height f the Radmap n yur web page. NOTE: t avid scrll bars appearing n the page, yu shuld adjust the width and height fr each drawing Basic Embedding withut JavaScript If yu dn't want t use a <script> tag t embed the drawings, yu can alternatively use an iframe. With this methd yu lse the URL-tracking functinality f the system. The cde prvided in the Basic Embedding instructins includes a snippet f Javascript which reprts back t the server the URL f the page embedding the drawing. This iframe cde is actually written by the javascript methd abve. <iframe width="800" height="600" src=" framebrder="0" scrlling="aut"></iframe> NOTE: If yu chse t embed drawings by using an iframe, we request that yu als include this bit f Javascript which will reprt the page URLs back t ur system.
