1 The Celina ISD Home of the Bobcats CISD School Calendar Cast Your Vote For the CISD Calendar The Celina ISD Calendar Committee would like your feedback regarding proposed calendars for the school year. A survey is now ready and available on the CISD District website to receive your input. The survey is available in English and Spanish will only be accessible until Monday, February 9 th. Campus News Check out the latest happenings around the District! Lykins Benefit Come support the Lykins Benefit on Saturday, January 31 st! The major differences between the two calendars break down as follows; Calendar A Thanksgiving Break starts on Wednesday for a total of 3 days. Last day of school is May 26 th. Calendar B Thanksgiving Break has the entire week off. Last day of school is June 2 nd. Academic UIL Results from the Academic UIL competition for Grades 2-5. Congratulations! 2 Campus News: Elementary Intermediate & Middle School TEAM LYKINS What: Lykins Benefit Where: CHS Cafeteria When: January 31 st Time: Doors open at 5:00pm. Food is served at 6:00pm. Marcy Lykins teaches at Celina Elementary. Several years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and successfully fought that battle. She was just recently diagnosed with cancer again and has picked up the fight once more! Please join us in support for Marcy s fight! The benefit will include a BBQ dinner, live and silent auctions and great entertainment! Get your tickets early for this special event!!! Celina Elementary hosted a Parent Involvement night that involved live animals. Everyone that attended had a great time and learned about the characteristics of the animals displayed. Celina Intermediate welcomed students and their fathers to their Donuts with Dad breakfast, which was very popular and even had a few grandfathers that stepped in to enjoy the morning with their grandchildren. The campus also hosted an Immigration meeting for The Junior High students competed in the UIL Academic Competition held on January at NCTC Gainesville. Results will be listed in the next edition. Determination is the campus character trait for the month. Students are encouraged to show determination in all areas at school and at home. our Hispanic parents updating them on the new regulations required. CIS is also looking forward to hosting Muffins with Mom on February 12 th from 7:00-7:45am. The Celina Middle School students competed in two different UIL Academic contests. The 5 th grade competed at Hilltop Elementary in Argyle. Results are listed on pages 3-5 of this newsletter. The 6 th grade competed in the UIL Academic contest held at the NCTC Gainesville campus. Results will be listed in the next edition. Campus News: Junior High & High School Celina High School 10 th, 11 th, & 12 th graders are embracing their new Ipads. Their teachers are creating lessons that center around project sharing and collaboration. The student body was treated to a showing of the Spring Musical South Pacific. We have some very talented students in Celina ISD! 2

Celina Middle School: Ashley Fisher, Shana Kriechbaum, Cathy Nabors, Megan Noland, Kay O Dell, Tammi Renfro, Leanne Thompson Attention: Celina High School Parents and Students Effective: Tuesday, January 27th On Tuesday, January 27 th, TxDOT closed the main entry to Celina High School as part of their expansion of Preston Road. The main entry is expected to be closed until the middle of March. Parents and students are advised to use the south entrances off of CR134 and the north exit off of CR105 as alternative traffic patterns during this period. Please refer to the alternative traffic pattern located on the Celina ISD website. 5
