After starting 2016 with a dominating win over Montreat in Appalachian Athletic Conference play, Reinhardt will travel 25 miles south to take on Kennesaw State in an exhibition game for the Eagles. 2. Reinhardt has played against two other NCAA Division I foes this season in exhibition games. At Troy, the Eagles trailed by just five, 47-42, at the half. The Trojans would extend their lead in the second half to as much as 20, but the Eagles would claw back within 13 before falling, Against Tennessee State nine days later, the Eagles fell behind by 24 at the half, but the guests rallied to outscore TSU, 41-33, in the second half before falling This will be the fifth time that Reinhardt and Kennesaw State have met on the hardwood. The last meeting between the two squads was Nov. 23, 2011, a game in which the Owls were victorious, Corey Ricks leads the way for Reinhardt in scoring with 18.0 points per game. He went over 750 points for his RU career with 23 against Montreat. The Florence, Ala., native also scored in double-digits in RU s two D-I exhibition games earlier this season, including a team-high 22 at Troy. 5. Kennesaw State is no stranger to playing NAIA schools. This will be the third game against an NAIA opponent that KSU has played this season, with this being the second game that will count in KSU s overall record. Last year, KSU played an NAIA school for its first game of the 2015 calendar year, and in the season, KSU played and defeated Truett-McConnell out of the Appalachian Athletic Conference. 6 Kennesaw State Connections Most of the senior staff - and some coaches - in the Reinhardt Athletic Department has some sort of tie to Kennesaw State University. Bill Popp - Director of Athletics Played baseball at KSU for Chip Reese and Steve ivens. Former KSU record holder for career saves. KSU graduate. Was head baseball coach at Oglethorpe before becoming Head Coach/Athletic Director at Reinhardt in 2004 Became RU s first full-time athletic director in Named AAC Aathletic Director of the Year for Brady Weiderhold - Pitching Coach Played baseball at KSU for Steve ivens and Mike Sansing. Also coached with Coach Sansing. KSU graduate. Went on to become pitching coach at Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana State, and the University of eorgia, heling UA and LSU to the College World Series. Joined RU baseball s coaching staff in Valerie Peel - Coordinator of Athletic Operations raduated from Kennesaw State University in the late 1990s. Jason Hanes - Sports Information Director Worked at Kennesaw State from 9/10/07 through 1/13/12 as Assistant SID. Also served as radio play-by-play voice for KSU men s basketball road games for two seasons. raduated from KSU July 31, Joined Reinhardt Sept. 4, Was named AAC SID of the Year for athletic year. James Black - Assistant Women s Basketball Coach Served under Colby Tilley on Kennesaw State women s basketball staff for six years. Departed after season. Joined RU coaching staff for season. RU would win the AAC Women s Basketball tournament championship for the first time in Jeffrey Pourchier - Assistant A.D. Was head men s basketball coach at Southern Polytechnic State, earning his master s degree from the institution.
