Susan firstly apologised for not attending the forum, but she had been flying in from overseas. She commented that she had felt humbled when first approached as she has only been a member since On her first attendance at a BWi lunch forum she said she had felt welcomed and had wanted to join immediately which was the start of her passion for BWi. She hopes to offer BWi members a vibrant, contemporary association with value for money through interesting forums, lively discussion and new members.

Susan responded that the committee will look at outsourcing speakers, also look at some high profile speakers to encourage new members and increase the member database by at least members, with a re-structure of the membership benefits and guests. Mary also commented that Margaret May is not standing again so will she remain as Bwi s patron? Susan responded that her question will be put on the agenda for the committee to discuss. Susan further noted that for the committee to achieve what the members want is through feedback so she encouraged all members and guests to give us feedback. Susan declared there was no further business, thanked everyone for attending and invited the members for a drink in Breakers Bar. Susan closed the 2010 AGM at 3.10pm. President s Report I extend a warm welcome to all our members today and thank you sincerely for you continued support and commitment to Business Women Incorporated. This is our sixth AGM and I m delighted as the current President to be able to report on the activities of the past 12 months. At the outset let me thank my Fellow Committee Members for their efforts during the past year the progress BWi continues to make is a direct result of their dedication and support for our common goals. It is not always easy to fit additional tasks into busy working lives, and could not have wanted for a more talented and committed group. Your Committee for has been: Casey Thrift - Vice President Forums Jan Billett - Vice President Natasha Gray - Treasurer Angela Newstead - Secretary Fran Ward Emmerson Past President Robyn Burgess - Committee Lydia Mudryj - Committee Nicole MacDonald - Committee And we were joined by Susan Carter and Lisa Sommerville to fill the vacancies left by Casey & Fran earlier this year.

4 The vision of BWI is to support and inspire Gold Coast based business & professional women through forums & special events. The current committee has focused on these areas over the past 12 months with a view to continuing to consolidate on the good work and vision of previous committees for improving BWi for the benefit of Members. During the past 12 months we have provided education and inspiration opportunities for our members through our monthly forums. During a time of economic upheaval for business and individuals we have focused on the resilience that we, as business and professional women need in order to continue to be successful and further develop as professionals. These forums have included; Mentoring A powerful way to improve your performance with Margaret Stomack A Woman in Politics: Open & Honest with Margaret May Can you see your blind spot? With Mary Saunders For International Womens Day: An afternoon with fashion icon Paula Stafford Are hormones making you wild? With Sam Beau Patrick Support opportunities for women with Louise Gorman and Ruth Reilly Tales from the trenches marketing by a non-marketer with Susan Carter Fraud are you at risk with Natasha Gray, Sharlene Anderson and Angela Engel Green Marketing - Is Green the New Black with Dr Dale Miller This year we have offered new and pre-loved ways for our members to connect more informally, such as; Business Birdies Golf Day followed by Bubbles & Nibbles on the Green at Emerald Lakes IME Workshop Elements of Design with Robyn Burgess Christmas High Tea where we donated $500 from raffles to our chosen charity Headway And of course, Ice Breakers each month following the Forum As with all businesses, our financial viability is crucial. In addition to the vast amount of time and expertise provided by our members and guest speakers we acquire funds through membership, corporate sponsorship, grants and raffles. Our membership has remained supportive although perhaps as a sign of troubled times, numbers have declined slightly. Our foundation members have continued to support us into our sixth year and we thank them, and all our members for their continued support and belief in BWi. We currently have 3 corporate sponsors. We sincerely thank McLaughlins Solicitors, Worrells Solvency and Forensic Accountants and the Commonwealth Bank for their generous support. We also thank those who have sponsored Ice Breakers each month. Our raffles continue to assist our financial viability and BWI could not keep on without the generosity of donations. Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes this year, particularly to Suzanne Peers - Acclaim Airconditioning, Robyn Burgess - Erkib Solo and Jan Billett GCD Exhibitions for generously donating every forum, as well as Nicole McDonald Munro Accountants, Lydia Mudryj - Bell Legal Group, Lisa Sommerville - McLaughlan & Partners, Janelle Manders - HLB Mann Judd, Sophie Pearson - McLaughlins Solicitors, Shae Regeling - One Label Hair Design, Catherine Palin-Brinkworth, Rosy Jansen - Computer Training Options, Susan Carter Worrells, Roxanne Hoskinson - Alchemy, and my own company Profitune. In closing I commend my fellow (continuing & retiring) committee members for their focus and efforts during the past 12 months and I thank the Membership for your support during this time. Thank you Judi Reid
