By the time the auction is here summer will be fading into a distant haze with reflections of having too many ice creams, lazy days spent by the pool and the unwanted addition of yet another couple of inches on the waist! Focus is sharpened as the credit card bills fall onto the doormat highlighting essential spending at far away holiday resorts over recent weeks. A reality check is badly needed? What better time to get back to basics and re-focus on purchasing property again. Interestingly, if you buy a property at today s auction you will go on to complete the transaction in just four weeks, within the first week or so in October leaving plenty of time to do a spot of decorating and other D.I.Y. improvements and be ready comfortably for the seasonal festivities at the end of the year. In comparison, if you agree to purchase today through the more traditional method of buying through an estate agency office, it is pretty unlikely that you will complete the deal and move in before Christmas and quite possibly not until the new year! There is truly no faster way to buy a property than by auction and as always, we have a diverse selection of properties to suit all tastes and budgets. At our last London auction sale on 24 July we offered 56 Sutherland Street, London SW1V, a Pimlico house occupying a corner location, arranged on six floors and in need of complete refurbishment. After an intense flurry of bids in the room the property eventually sold at 1,130,000, under the gavel, and well above the guide price of 950,000.
