1 Important information about your travel insurance policy Helpful Banking
2 With effect from 21 May 2012 a number of changes are being made to your NatWest Advantage International and Gold Travel Insurance, which is provided by U K Insurance (UKI). Please read all sections of this leaflet carefully. It is important that you understand what your insurance does, and does not, cover so please keep this document with your insurance policy and take it with you when you travel. Summary of changes Policy section What is changing New wording Medical statements We are now able to provide cover for some medical conditions but you must call us to discuss your circumstances It is important that you read this entire section to ensure that you understand what level of cover applies to you. We must be informed of any fact which is likely to influence cover under any part of this policy. Failure to do so may leave you with no right to make a claim. Call us on to talk about your medical circumstances. At the time of opening the account or before you book a journey At the time of opening the account and before you book a journey, you can call us at any time to tell us about a medical condition. We will tell you if we can cover that condition for free, if you need to pay us an extra premium or if we cannot cover the condition and we will write to you to confirm what we tell you over the phone. You have to contact us before you book a journey, if you: 1. Are receiving in-patient treatment or are waiting to receive treatment; 2. Have been prescribed medication in the last 12 months, whether taking it or not; 3. Have been diagnosed or treated with a heart or cancer related condition in the past 12 months; 4. Have been given a terminal prognosis; 5. Are aware of a reason why you may not be able to go on the journey or continue with it; 6. Are diagnosed with any of the medical conditions below: A circulatory condition (problems with blood flow, including high blood pressure) or a breathing condition (including asthma); Any joint and bone condition; Any gastrointestinal (stomach) condition; or diabetes When you do contact us we can talk to you about your medical condition(s) and work out whether or not we are able to cover them for free, for an additional premium or if we cannot cover your medical conditions. Note that if you do not contact us in this way, your cover may not be valid if you make a claim. If we are unable to cover your condition, then we will not pay claims that are directly related to the excluded medical condition. After you book a journey but before you leave If you are diagnosed with a new condition, this insurance will cover you to: a) Cancel the journey if due to your newly diagnosed condition, you are unable to travel; b) Continue with the journey, as long as you are not travelling against medical advice.
3 Medical statements (continued) Eligibility You no longer need to have been a customer when you booked the trip, only when you were due to travel Children are covered for travel independently of their parents At any time you have this policy This policy will not cover you to: a) Travel to obtain medical treatment; b) Travel against medical advice. After you have called us Where we either agree to cover or decline to cover medical conditions, we will usually apply those terms for a 12 month period and at the end of this period we will send you a letter asking you to call in again, so that we can assess the cover for your medical condition(s) again. Our medical risk assessment system is updated frequently and we reserve the right to amend our medical risk assessment outcomes, so you may find that one year we might be unable to cover your medical condition(s) but at a later date we might be able to or that additional premiums charged may change. Eligibility a) You must be an Advantage International or Gold Account holder for the duration of your trip. b) There is a journey limit of 6 months in duration, except where the trip involves winter sports where the maximum duration allowable is 17 days. Additional cover can be obtained by calling c) All cover will stop upon closure of your Advantage International or Gold Account. d) Cover cannot be given after a trip has started. e) There is an excess applicable to some sections of this policy. This excess will be applied to each insured person for each insured event. f) You can add guests to this insurance. Please call g) The policy also provides cover for dependent children travelling without the account holder on trips organised by schools or recognised organisations that are supervised by adults. Definitions New definition Dependent children All children (including legally adopted, foster and step children) of the account holder who at the start date of the journey are aged under 18 years (or up to 23 if in full time education), living at the account holders home address and are unmarried or have not entered into a Civil Partnership. We will cover dependent children who do not reside permanently (or for the majority of the time) with the account holder, providing the child(ren) resides permanently with the other parent for the remainder of the time. Definitions Simplification of definition Directly related Refers to situations where the account holder or any insured person has previously suffered from the same medical condition or illness. Definitions New definition Excess An excess is the amount we will deduct from a claim. This amount is payable per insured person claiming, per claim registered. Where a single incident gives rise to a claim under two or more sections of cover, only one excess will be payable per insured person.
4 Definitions New definition Guest Any individual whilst travelling with an account holder during the period of the journey who lives within the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Gibraltar and for whom the appropriate additional premium has been paid. Definitions New definition Immediate family Your partner, Fiancé, Fiancée, Parents, Parents-in-law, Stepparents, Son, Son-in-law, Daughter, Daughter-in-law, Brother, Brother-in-law, Sister, Sister-in-law, Step-children, Legal Guardian, Grandparents, Grandchildren. Definitions Definition removed Journey definition removed please refer to Trip definition Definitions Changed definition Loss of limb A loss of limb is where it is permanently severed either at or above the wrist or ankle or total loss of a complete foot, leg, hand or arm. Definitions Changed definition Manual work Any work, which involves: Using, installing or maintaining equipment or machinery; building or construction work; caring for children in any capacity. Definitions New definition Medical advisor(s) A senior medical officer appointed by the assistance service. Definitions Changed definition Partner The person that the account holder lives with at the account holder s home address in a relationship, whether married or cohabiting, as if husband and wife or civil partners regardless of gender. Definitions Changed definition Permanent total disablement A disability preventing you from doing any work of any kind for 104 weeks and at the end of this period there is no reasonable hope of improvement. Definitions Changed definition Pre-existing medical condition Means when, at the time of booking your trip or opening your account, you answer yes to any of the Medical Statements on page 11 of this policy. Definitions New definition Redundant/Redundancy Any person being made involuntarily unemployed, who is 65 years or less and under the normal retirement age for someone holding that person s position, and who has been employed for two continuous years with the same employer at the time of being made unemployed. Definitions New definition Secure area The locked boot of a motor vehicle. This includes the locked luggage compartment of a hatchback or estate vehicle fitted with a lid, fixed tray or roller blind that closes off the luggage area behind the rear seats.

Definitions Changed definition (This is a clarification by addition of a space in U K Insurance here and throughout the policy; there has been no change of insurer) We/Us/Our/The insurer Means U K Insurance Limited (UKI), who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Registered address: The Wharf, Neville Street, Leeds, LS1 4AZ. Registered number UKI is a member of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Definitions Changed definition Trip or journey Means a temporary absence from your home address for at least 1 night: a) outside the United Kingdom (or Channel Islands, Gibraltar or Isle Of Man if you normally live there); or b) within the United Kingdom (or Channel Islands, Gibraltar or Isle Of Man if you normally live there), where you are staying in pre-arranged accommodation. In either case the maximum trip length is 6 months for any one trip, with the exception of trips that include winter sports, where cover is limited to 17 days in total any one year. Terrorism/a terrorist act. This section does not apply to section 8 - Medical and Emergency Expenses or to section 9 - Personal Accident except where nuclear, chemical or biological weapons/ agents are used. Death, injury, illness or disablement resulting from alcoholism, the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs (other than drugs taken under medical supervision and not for the treatment of drug addiction) or solvent abuse. Exclusion removed Exclusion removed 10. Air travel (other than as a fare-paying passenger on a regular scheduled airline or licensed charter aircraft). 11. Manual work or hazardous activities of any kind.

New condition gives a clearer explanation of what we mean by material facts New general condition 13. New condition reminds you to let us know about any medical conditions Bankruptcy/liquidation of any tour operator, travel agent or transportation company You must tell us about any claim as soon as reasonably possible. Any increase in costs caused by your delay in telling us will not be covered by this policy. You must also inform us if you are aware of any court order to do or stop doing something, order to attend court or impending prosecution. Every communication relating to a claim must be sent to us without delay. You must take all reasonable steps to prevent any loss, damage or accident. If you do not we may not pay your claim. It is a condition of this insurance that all material facts which is anything that might alter, change or influence the continuation of this insurance cover on the same terms, such as pre-existing medical conditions, medical conditions diagnosed before booking your journey, criminal convictions and possible participation in hazardous activities, etc are disclosed to us. Failure to do so may invalidate this insurance leaving you no right to make a claim. We reserve the right to not extend the policy. You must let us know of any medical condition as set out under Medical Statements on page 11.
