14 Community Planning Leadership & Design Charettes A critical and essential part of municipal planning is to engage the public in the planning and design process. This requires delicately balancing user group needs, site and project constraints, environmental considerations, project budget requirements and more. Often this involves leading public workshop, meetings or design charettes which provide outlets for the public to participate in aspects of the planning process. It is important to relate to the user groups and constituents and provide useful information that is easily interpreted and understood. Garnering public goodwill is tremendously helpful to the successful execution of a municipal project. For over 20 years Smith Planning Group has lead many successful public workshops and has become experienced in mediating and managing diverse user groups while keeping a clear focus on the tasks at hand. Smith Planning Group provides top quality presentations and presentation visuals to aid in the process. Recently Smith Planning Group has lead workshops for the following municipalities: City of Thomasville - Landmarks Multi-Use Trail City of Porterdale - Town Visioning City of Bishop - Town Planning Cherokee County - Patriots Park Oconee County - Heritage Park History Village STUDY OF STRUCTURES IN DOWNTOWN BISHOP
