1 Early Childhood Education and Care / Education Assistant Fall 2014 Textbook List The NLC Fort St. John Campus Bookstore will be closed June 30th to August 1st for inventory and upgrades. Please continue to send in your orders. Your orders will be processed and shipped when they reopen. Students who plan to order course texts from the NLC FSJ Campus Bookstore are strongly advised to order textbooks as soon as registration starts to ensure availability and sufficient time for delivery. Students may use second-hand texts. Students are advised to stay within one edition of the current edition begin used for the course, but please note that there may be significant changes when a new edition is published (most publisher websites will post a synopsis of new editions they publish). All textbook orders will be subject to 5% tax. All textbook orders must be received in writing. Students can use the Desire2Learn Sandbox to sell or purchase used texts. Please note that Northern Lights College and the ECEC/EA Office are not responsible for the condition or provision of second-hand texts. Before purchasing a used copy check if the Publisher's online features will be used which would require a new access code. Please do not sell your Cites and Sources text as it is required in every course. Students may also choose to order an electronic version (e-text) by logging onto CourseSmart at: Not all textbooks will have an e-version option, so please login to the CourseSmart website to see what e-texts are available. At this time, e-texts must be ordered directly from the CourseSmart website (not the NLC Bookstore) and a credit card is required. Textbooks ordered through the FSJ Campus Bookstore will be sent to the student directly from the bookstore. Course content, readings, instructor information, teleconference dates, times and tollfree phone numbers etc. will be posted on D2L. All textbook prices are subject to change, without notice. Texts returned within 20 days in new condition may be considered for a refund; providing it is in new condition and unopened. The ECEC and EA programs are excited to announce that beginning in September 2014 we will begin to use the Science of Early Child Development (SECD). SECD is an online resource that is required in some courses. It is a 3 year license that can only be purchased from the NLC FSJ Campus Bookstore. This license is nontransferrable and cannot be sold. If you are taking more than one course that requires SECD you only need to purchase 1 license. Page 1 of 8
