2 For academic credit purposes, the credits hours earned for each course in the program are based on the following formula: 15 clock hours of classroom or direct faculty instruction plus out of class independent work; 30 clock hours of laboratory activities; or 45 clock hours of externship. In addition, students will be assigned out of class independent homework per week; this out of class work will not count toward academic credits earned. Refer to the Homework and Practice Outside of Class for more information. For all courses excluding externship, a designated clock (contact) hour represented a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction within a 60 minute period, and may vary for financial aid purposes. All program credit totals have been rounded to the nearest whole number. Clock hour programs Clock hour courses are taught in four week modules. New class starts will occur every four weeks. For programs with 900 or more clock hours, the academic year is comprised of 9 four week modules. The number of modules in an academic year for programs that are less than 900 clock hours is calculated by dividing the program clock hours by 100 hours. For financial aid and SAP purposes, an academic year is defined as 900 scheduled clock hours. For programs less than 900 clock hours the length of the program is the academic year. The payment period is equivalent to ½ of the academic year for clock hours. Pg. 9: Add the following after the last paragraph under the Unit of Credit section One quarter credit hour is defined as: 10 classroom or direct faculty instruction plus out of class independent work; 20 clock hours of laboratory activities; or 30 clock hours of externship. P. 9: Add the following under Types of Work Outside of Class as the last bullet point Community Service Activities P. 10: Add the following before page 10 P.10: Remove the following courses under Business Administration Associate of Science Degree Criminal Justice Administrative Track Paralegal Track Page 2 of 7

Additional failed courses may be repeated without the substitution of the original grade. Under both circumstances, the College s SAP policy applies. Course substitutions will allow the original grade to become an RPT.. The RPT grade may have an effect on the GPA. Students who want to retake a course that was not previously an F grade may do so; however, the original grade remains and is counted towards their GPA. (Note there may be some financial aid implications). Students not eligible for course substitution may still repeat a course. Under course repetition the original and retaken courses count toward the GPA and completion percentage. P. 74: Add the following under Course Substitution / Repetition Policy: COURSE REPEAT POLICY A student, who receives a failing grade, must successfully retake that course to meet graduation requirements. A student may repeat the same course a maximum of 2 times. A student who unsuccessfully attempts the same course 3 times is dismissed from the school. In addition, a student who unsuccessfully attempts 3 consecutive courses is dismissed from school. Failed grades negatively impact a student s maximum time frame (MTF) and cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in accordance with the Grading Scale and Effect of Grades on SAP. When Page 6 of 7

7 a failed course is successfully retaken, the original grade may be changed to an RPT per the course substitution policy. The RPT grade counts as credits attempted and negatively impacts a student s maximum time frame (MTF), but does not affect the CGPA. Students will be charged for each course repeat on a prorated basis in accordance with the tuition and fees schedule outlined in the Enrollment agreement. Page 7 of 7
