Rugged, brick-shaped mobile computers of the time were being deployed in factories, distribution centers, warehouses, and retail stores where task workers used the computer s barcode scanner and physical keypad to enter data that kept supply in sync with demand ultimately keeping the wheels of mission-critical operations rolling.
