The unlawful use, pssessin, r distributin f alchl r illegal drugs n campus is prhibited by federal and state law. Emplyees wh use, pssess r distribute alchl r illegal drugs n campus will be subject t disciplinary actin as set frth in the Cllege's plicies, cllective bargaining cntracts, and civil and state laws. This prhibitin extends t any persn n Cllege grunds, whether he r she is a member f the Cllege cmmunity r nt. Minnesta Statute defines "alchlic beverage" as any beverage cntaining mre than ne half f ne percent alchl by vlume. Emplyee Sanctins may include but are nt limited t: Referral t law enfrcement agencies fr prsecutin r charges Subject t disciplinary actin, up t and including terminatin f emplyment. Emplyees with alchl r drugs prblems may be referred t the Emplyee Assistance Prgram r elsewhere fr assessment and/r cunseling. Pssessin: All Schedule I, II III, r IV drugs except 42.5 grams r less f marijuana. Penalty: 0-5 years, 6 mnth mandatry min. if prir drug felny; up t $10,000 fine. Schedule Drugs I. Herin, LSD, mescaline and peyte, amphetamine variants, marijuana, ther hallucingens. II. Opium, mrphine, cdeine, methadne, ccaine, barbiturates. III. Anablic sterids, pium, cdeine, mrphine, barbiturates, ther narctics, stimulants, and depressants. IV. Barbiturates, benzdiazepines, chlral hydrate, ther narctics, stimulates and depressants. V. 3 Alchl Vilatins Minnesta has many statutes which regulate and cntrl alchl us and misuse. Fines and penalties are given n the basis f minimum requirements and prir vilatins. Sme crimes and vilatins are as fllws: Driving under the influence (bld alchl cntent.08) First ffense: $700 fine, max. 90 days in jail, revcatin f drivers license min. 30 days. Secnd ffense: (within 5 years): $3000 fine, max. One year in jail, revcatin f license min. 90 days. Persns under the age f 21 Misdemeanrs: Cnsumptin and pssessin unless in parent r guardians hme, purchase r attempts t purchase alchl, entering licensed premises, misrepresenting age. Aiding Minrs Grss Misdemeanr: T sell, furnish r give a minr alchl, t induce a minr t purchase alchl, t lend r permit use f license t a minr. Health Risks Alchl: Damage t heart, liver, and/r pancreas, addictin, cma, death frm verdse, injury r accident. Marijuana: Damage t heart, lungs, and/r brain nerve cells, lung cancer, brnchitis, infectins. Depressants: (Alchl, Valium, Quaaludes, dwners, etc) Irreversible brain r nervus system damage, damage t heart, liver, and/r pancreas, cma, death frm verdse. Hallucingens: (LSC, PCP, angel dust, mushrms, etc.) Agitatin, hyperactivity, cnvulsins, death. Inhalants: (Slvents, aersl sprays, paint thinner, glue, etc.) Damage t nervus system liver and brain, heart failure, seizures. Narctics: (Cdeine, herin, pium, etc.) Respiratry arrest, cma, death due t verdse. Sterids: (Rids, juice, d-ball, etc.) Acne, liver and kidney damage, heart disease, gallstnes, kidney stnes, liver cancer, imptence and sterility in men. Stimulants: (Ccaine, crack, uppers, Ritalin, preludes, etc) Headaches, depressin, psychsis, cardiac arrest, cnvulsins, cma, death. The abuse f alchl and drugs has a way f creating turmil, nt just with the law and with nes bdy; abuse als can create havc with emtins which leads t a variety f prblems. Additinal Risks Many students cnsider drinking t be nrmal and respectable, but many peple frget that the abuse f alchl can cause serius physical and mental prblems.
